Very Interesting Story.......2007-10-08

I really enjoyed this book! The characters are easy to like and I was completely engrossed in the plot about how loves endures even after death. Some twists and turns make the story interesting and I loved reading about the author's perspective on the after-life. The book stirred real emotions and I found myself reaching for the tissue box on multiple occasions. Very entertaining and highly enjoyable!

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. The combination of the past, the present and the 'in between' introduced some fascinating possibilities into the lives of the characters.

There are some interesting twists and turns as Raziela Nolan (Razi) seeks to follow the life of her beau (Andrew O'Connell) subsequent to her untimely death in the 1920s. As part of her journey of discovery, Razi becomes involved in the lives of Amy and Scott some 70 years after her own death.

This is a novel about love, understanding and compromise which tests the boundaries of time, grief and death. In this, her first novel, Ms Domingue has provided a splendid novel to be read and revisited.

Mystical, but the air maybe a tad too thin.......2007-09-02

After your demise imagine hanging around 'between' able to observe and even interact on a ghostly plane with those you knew in life. The book is beautifully written- an amazing first novel. A 4 because though some of the main characters such as Raziela were well drawn, others just didn't speak to me. There didn't seem strong enough foundation for the serious problem that seemed to just crop up between Scott and Amy, or for the resolution of same. I will say that Ms. Domingue can write great love scenes when so many authors fail with love scenes that are just icky or ridiculous. Ms. Domingue has written a truly unique ghost story. This book should be on best book lists.

A romance novel...without the BLECH........2007-08-29

Once in a while, a book will choose me to read it. I happened to pick this up on a bargain table for 4 dollars and figured that even if I didn't like it, it was still only 4 dollars.

Best damn 4 dollars I ever spent.

Ronlyn Domingue's debut novel is magical and hypnotic. There is just no other way to describe it. Raziela Nolan is a unique and powerful protagonist, her voice becoming warm and familiar after the second page. The characters become your friends, relatives, brothers, and sisters. You laugh with them, cry with them, bleed with them, and worry about them as if they were right beside you. Domingue's mind-blowing descriptions and poetic prose put you within the action, feeling and seeing with the characters. The parallels within the story, along with the shift between the past and the present, keep the reader engaged and curious, hopelessly attached to the book until the punctuation of the last sentence. The ending will leave you breathless, grasping your chest in awe and sorrow, grateful for having had the experience but longing for more.

Just as Razi will never forget Andrew, or a single solitary moment of her breathing life, I will never forget a single page of this beautiful, expertly crafted work of literature. Read it, I promise it will change your life.

I loved this book, set in the 1920's and present day America, it had everything I love in a good book: romance, heart ache, loss, passion, adventure, and history.

I give this book 5 whoppin' stars. It's the first in the series and each sequel is equally entertaining. Loved it. Fremont is wonderful and endearing. The setting and atmosphere are exquisitely depicted. Highly recommended.

I stumbled upon this book while browsing at my local university's book sale. I'm so happen I found it. What a gem! Fremont Jones is a great protaganist - spunky, daring, irreverant, intelligent, and charming.

I picked up this series while waiting for the next Laurie King - Mary Russell book. The story has a strong lead character - Fremont Jones - who leaves her stuffy home in Boston and sets up a typing business in San Francisco during the time right before the big earthquake. The books are funny and well done. Thumbs up!

Caroline Fremont Jones is a college educated Bostonian in the early years of the 20th century. Her father has recently married a woman that she dislikes. That woman has her nephew in mind for Caroline's husband. She has vowed never to marry, so when her father and Augusta are on their honeymoon, she leaves for San Fransisco. She changes her name to C. Fremont Jones and starts a typing business. Things are going well, she has a new friend, a young lawyer named Justin Cameron, an excellent landlady, Mrs O'Leary, and a mysterious neighbor, Michael Archer.

Strange things begin to happen. A mysterious stranger with a resemblence to Edgar Allan Poe, drops off a manuscript to be typed. He seems to be afraid of something or someone. His tales are very strange. Then, a leader of the Chinese community, Li Wong, asks her to type a letter for him. Shortly afterward he is murdered, and his family needs the information in the letter, which has disappeared. Justin is becoming an infatuation, which Fremont doesn't want given her vow, and Michael Archer seems to be following her. Something is very wrong and she is determined to get to the bottom of it all.

This is a very good series. The time period and the characters are all very vivid. You almost feel that you are in the San Francisco of that time. The plot and mystery have many twists and turns and the ending is satisfactory. The next book should be even better!

Plenty of twists.......2002-02-26

This was the first book by Dianne Day I read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The early 20th century makes for delightful reading. I highly recommend this book to people who shy away from mysteries. This will change your mind.

As an avid collector and fan of erotic literature I have found many examples of these books published under different titles and as multiple books.... This one is a prime example as it was published as two seperate novels making this an especially delious read for anyone that enjoys fine erotic writings.

The writings of Anne-Marie Villefranche, in contract to Victorian erotic novels are that the plots and sub-plots are much more complex and character development of the French seems paramount ...

There are two books in this novel .. The first SECRETS D'AMOUR deals with Armand and Madelaine the wife of one of his friends. When one evening Madelaine brushes against him in a more FRIENDLY way than he expected the erotic story unfolds as Madeline decides to join that 'oh so French' group of women that decide they too will take lovers so as not to left behind by their husbands. This is a delicious story of love and betrayal.

The second book SOUVENIER D'AMOUR deals with Marcel and his love for the virginal Dany and the very beautiful but engaged Gabrielle .... Marcel has no trouble in allowing the women to have what they ultimately want. It's so delicious to read about women being the hunter without cheapening or shortening the excitement of the hunt.

The story is complex and bawdy enough to re-read it many many times ... Buy it before it goes out of print !

This collection excels at bringing the reader into the works. Anne-Marie Villefranche has done an excellent job at keeping the characters' relationships decidedly simple, yet dangerously complex.

These exercises were complicated and bizarre, and they didn't help me. I am a lifelong fitness expert, and have used a lot of different training programs. I am 35, in great shape, and these exercises actually made my head hurt! No fitness training program has ever given me a headache before!

I've purchased plenty of exercise videos and programs and this is the best. It is simple and can be done anywhere in short periods of time. I love Transformetrics because you feel the intensity of the workout quickly and do not have to purchase any equipment. I almost did not purchase as I have spent so much money on exercise videos and book to stay motivated, but I am very thankful I purchased this book. I injured my hip over 5 years ago and her program has been successful in helping me isolate and work that muscle. And I've tried almost everything to heal that muscle including pilates, physical therapy, electronic muscle stimulation, but these exercises have been the most beneficial. When she makes a exercise DVD, I'll buy it.

This book was astoundingly, and sometimes embarassingly, accurate. Her research is phenominal and original, the organization of the chapters could have been a touch better, but all-in-all, I think that every person into astrology, or married to someone who is, should own this book.

If you like this book, you might also like: Linda Goodman's Love Signs: A New Approach to the Human Heart (a classic!), or Ex Files: A Zodiac Guide to His Former Flames (a wonderful new find).

A good read, but hardly perfection.......2007-01-03

I enjoyed Ms. Bennett's writing style and I was very impressed with her ability to concisely describe the behaviors of each sign. Truthfully, I found the book very difficult to put down. However, her brand of psychology was less than inspiring.

I was also extremely disappointed when she wrote, "the Leo woman is almost always divorced as a result of failed expectations or of an incomplete awareness of her own behavior and needs. A seperation or divorce can teach her most of what she needs to know in order to build another, happier relationship." I found that to be a great example of what goes wrong when astrology is mixed with psychology. The perpective ends up being that if the female is just readjusted her relationships will work out. If she had replaced Leo with people she would have ended up with a statement that was just as likely to be true as most people are divorced because of a lack of self knownledge an inability to get their needs met with their partner.

In my own experiance I have not seen this as a the cause for the Leo females relationship problems. In fact, I know many examples of Leo women (and no I am not a Leo) who suffered or are suffering badly in their relationships because they are uncomfortable expressing their own qualities for fear that are unacceptable in a woman. I can think of one case of a Sun/Moon/Ascendent in Leo female who refuses to leave her husband after his repeated beatings because she thinks it is too selfish.

I think in the end she makes certain types of women feel guilty for expressing their own characterists. Leo women have a vivaciousness that is extremely attractive, and they are not more at fault for failures in their marriage than the females of any other sign whom Ms. Bennett seems to have had more compassion for. I would recommend A Knot In Time along with this book because by itself it does not suffice as a good source of female psychology.

Another problem with this book is that the author's explaination for all female sexual problems is that they are repressing their anger. Women maybe experiancing an inablity to orgasm for any number of reasons least of all repressed anger. Many medical conditions can cause problems with orgasming, not to mention that many women enjoy sex thoroughly and never orgasm. They are not all angry.

This book describes how I feel so accurately it's scary!! Judith Bennett obviously knew exactly what she was talking about when she wrote this book. Bennett goes into meticulous detail and is usually right on!! This book answers a lot of questions you may have about yourself and reveals things about yourself you may have not even thought about or you've felt you couldn't put into words--a must for all women! I have given it to all my friends and they all agree this book tells the truth in detail. This should be required reading for men if they want to truly understand their women.

This book is so good I have already brought 4 copies for various friends and relatives! It is so accurate that my sister swear it is a woman's bible to understanding herself. It is truly a interesting read and I read it every 4 to 5 months to reinforce my own understanding about myself. Read it if you are open minded.

Astonishingly True !.......2001-11-10

I do not understand how exactly Astrology works, and I am more of a scientist, but this book which combines Psychology and Astrology provides the most true to life insight into the woman's psyche that I know of. All my relationships are testimony that Judith Bennett really knows what she is talking about. I greatly recommend this book to any man who wants to learn a little bit more about women, I recommend it to any man who really cares about the relationship with the woman he is involved with. It never failed me !

You Are More Than Enough is a wonderful and practical resource. It is an easy read filled with useful and sensible suggestions. A powerful book that would be beneficial in building a career or in life. It is an insightful, exciting and fresh approach to becoming all we can be. Ms. Moreo writes to women, but the principles would apply to men also. The illustrations are bits of her life that make it entertaining and realistic. I will make sure that my grand daughters have a copy.

The best part is that this is an INSTRUCTION Book. She deals in specifics about how to live the successful life YOU want for yourself.

Too many people these days are unsure about themselves. They suffer from a lack of self-esteem and don't believe they are capable of greatness. We are all perfect in our own way - although we sometimes need to be reminded of that. Even though we make mistakes occasionally, we are all human beings who deserve to life our best life. If you ever had doubts about your ability or questioned your belief in yourself, then you need to read Judi's book. In "You Are More Than Enough," Judi Moreo shares stories from her life - including her personal struggles and how she overcame them to find her own passion and purpose.

I knew Judi 30 years ago, when she owned a modeling agency in Las Vegas, Nevada. Knowing what I know now, I can't imagine how she handled so much responsiblity at such a young age. She has always strived to succeed and become successful. This book is the latest example of what someone with passion can do when they set their mind to it.

Wow! this book should be issued with every newborn for the family to us as an instruction manual for raising the kid. Read it to the child and give it to them when they can read. A powerful story and great advice.

Has some useful information.......2006-11-06

If you want to know more about Victoria Jackson and how she got her start, this is the book for you. She goes into her life history, and how she got started as a famous make up artist. While she may be extremely talented, this book falls short on technique on how to properly apply make up. I would suggest looking at a few other books before making a final decision on this one. She has an excellent primer on how to properly groom your eyebrows. Her suggestions for other types of application are very basic, and they are ideas you most likely have already read somewhere else.

Too much chatter.......2003-07-15

I wanted to buy a GOOD book to make myself up for my wedding. Victoria Jackson loves to talk about herself... lady this is not an autobiography. And the entire USEFuLL info can put in 10 pages maximum. The information is very basic, any woman who has been using makeup and reading articles in magazines will know. No Creative looks, and even for eyes just one way of applying eyeshadow is given. Nothing about highlighting or glitter... not even the smoky eyed look.... Plus all she does is advertise her products, how everyone loves them. A book is supposed to be objective not preachy. And info on tools is very limited too.

When I first saw this book, I didn't think I'd appreciate it because I already had a step-by-step makeup book and another would just be an extra. However, I was very wrong: not only is this book extremely extensive, including topics about kodak moments, hair, fitness, self-esteem etc., but it had the most amazing makeup tips! I thought I heard everything and had mastered the art of makeup application, but apparantly I hadn't. I always drag this book around with me because Victoria Jackson is *so* inspiring, and has tips for everything. EVERYTHING. It's not just makeup, it's about "making up" your LIFE. Plus, it's just a gorgeous book with great photography. If you're gonna own only one makeup book, this should be it.

The Best I've Seen So Far.......2003-01-06

Victoria Jackson's book is WONDERFUL! The chapter 'Mirror, Mirror' greatly enhanced my self esteem. I also love Jackson's tips for foundation application. Much more detail than I've seen in other beauty books.

Entertaining and Informative.......2000-04-19

An entertaining book full of fun and informative tips for makeup and lifestyle. Loved the before and after shots and the step by step instructions for makeup application and facial contouring. After 35 years I have finally learn't how to shape my eyebrows to suit my face.....that was well worth the price of the book. The great thing about this book is that is not just about makeup, it is about selfworth and being kind to yourself. Not just about outer beauty but about letting the inner beauty shine through.
