This third and final novel in Roberts's Irish trilogy is the story of Shannon Bodine. Shannon's life is rocked by an emotional earthquake when she learns the identity of her real father. Obeying her late mother's last wish, American Shannon travels to County Clare, Ireland, to meet the sisters she never knew she had. Warmed and comforted by the bond that grows between her and her sisters, her heart is lured by the charm of the Irish countryside and tempted by the attraction of horseman Murphy Muldoon. Murphy takes one look at Shannon and knows that she is the woman he's waited for all his life. But Shannon is a practical woman. Will she open her heart and mind to the timeless, magical bond that connects them? Or will she reject fate's plan and leave Murphy to return to her life in America?

My favorite in the Triology.......2007-09-14
I guess this is my favorite because I was already familar with the characters. I love how the sisters (Maggie & Brianna) are a huge part of the story in this book although we learned so much about them in the other two books.
The romance between Shannon and Murphy is the kind that Irish legends are made of. Fiery and Mystical.
Nora Roberts.......2007-09-11
has many trilogies and I was happy to get this and recommend these books to anyone who is a fan of hers.
Born in Shame: Trilogy #3.......2007-04-11
Having read the 1st 2 books of Nora Roberts' "Born In ... Trilogy" I was frustrated at being unable to locate the 3rd in the series in a couple local bookstores. Luckily, Amazon came thru. Nora Roberts always does a great job of sharing an indepth look into her characters with her readers. In this series, we emerse ourselves in the lives of 3 very talented sisters, their dysfunctional Mother, surprising Father, and the lucky men who become their husbands. I looked forward to the book and was not disappointed!
good read.......2007-01-20
What better way to pass a cold, winter than by curling up with a good book? The "Born In" trilogy by Nora Robertss is an excellent way to do just that. You won't be diapointed.
Fast paced and rushed.......2005-07-18
To read Born in Shame, the first two books in the trilogy should be read first, or at least Born in Ice. It was Brianna who found the letters to her father and instigated the search for the writer. Had Brianna not done this, Born in Shame would not have been written.
Anyway, the reader is immediately thrown into Shannon Bodine's high style life. From the beginning, she's very stubborn and single minded. After losing both parents, finding out her father really was not her father, and that her mother had an affair with a married man, sends Shannon to Ireland to explore her newfound roots. Here she meets Maggie, who she constantly bumps heads with, Maggie's husband Rogan, sweetnatured Brianna and her humorous husband Gray, and Murphy Muldoon, long time friend of the Concannon sisters. I felt that the story was very rushed. Shannon makes hardly any effort to stalmate Murphy's actions towards her. They're sleeping together before you know it. And then suddenly, she comes to her senses in the last chapter and doesn't leave Ireland. Who'd have thought?
Book Description
People magazine declared that "[Nora Roberts] is at the top of her game," and there's no greater evidence of that than these three novels. From the horse farms of Virginia to the rugged beauty of Montana to an island off the coast of Georgia, these novels showcase Nora Roberts's talents for intense drama, vivid characters, and fast-paced suspense.

Love all of Nora's romance books.......2007-02-25
You can never go wrong with a Nora Roberts romance novel and this is just one more great one in the list.
beware small type.......2007-01-15
i haven't finished reading even the first of these three books, but I am struggling to read the small, serifed type. I don't usually have any problems reading normal type, but something about the font and size of the type, combined with the large book is making this read a bit of a struggle for me.
So far, really like the characters and very typical Nora Roberts writing.
Very Good Reads.......2007-01-14
If you are an avid reader as I aa and a Nora Roberts fan too, you can't beat these three great books combined in one volume.
I am certain that you will enjoy these three earlier works by Nora Roberts.
Great vendor.......2006-11-14
This book was in great condition. The delivery was fast. Thank you for your prompt attention.
True Betrayals/Montana Sky/Sanctuary.......2006-08-31
Truly a great grouping of three story lines. Each one kept me on the edge of my seat and reluctant to put down until I completed it. Descriptions of location and events put you right there. I can't wait to read more of this author.

Book Description
When Tony Valentine, a master at catching casino cheaters, jets to Las Vegas to look for his missing son, he lands in the middle of a dangerous turf war between rival casinos. Valentine’s longtime pal then taps him to figure out how an amateur won $25,000 at his blackjack tables. But the job is full of land mines. For starters, the suspect bears a strong resemblance to his late wife. Upping the ante, a dead stripper is found with Valentine’s calling card–and her grief-stricken policeman boyfriend is vowing revenge.
Yet in a city where barracudas wear pinstripes, and reality and illusion shift depending on the neon light, a greater threat maneuvers through the streets: an all-new breed of criminal with an agenda propelled by fury that will shake not only Valentine, but the city of Las Vegas itself.

1
The most desirable women in Las Vegas didn¿t live there. They lived in southern California and worked as dental hygienists, aerobic instructors, and nurses. They lived regular, nine-to-five lives. Then, on the weekend, they flew to Las Vegas¿usually on Southwest, because it had the most flights¿got off the plane, and became different people. Their names changed, and so did their hairstyles and their clothes. It was as if a magic wand had been waved over them, although the change was anything but magical.
They became strippers in the gentlemen¿s clubs that hung on the periphery of the Las Vegas Strip. They paid the club owners two hundred bucks a night and made the money back in twenty minutes from drunken men wanting a friction dance. On a good night, they took home a grand.
It wasn¿t that these women were more beautiful than the women who lived in Las Vegas. Vegas was filled with knockouts. What made them different was that they weren¿t used to being treated like garbage, which was how most women in Vegas got treated. No, these women still had dreams. They lived in la-la land, and it came through on their faces every time they smiled.
Her name was Kris, and she danced at the Pink Pony.
Lieutenant Pete Longo of the Metro Las Vegas Police Department had met Kris while responding to a call about a fight. Normally, he would have let a uniform deal with it, only the prospect of seeing naked women dancing against a backdrop of sporting events projected on a colossal screen had propelled him into action. That, and not having to see his wife for another hour.
The fight was between a drunk and a bouncer, and it was over Kris. The drunk was a big, corn-fed kid from the Midwest who¿d trapped Kris in a VIP booth. She was naked save a G-string and looked scared out of her wits. Petite, blond hair, great figure, and her own breasts. Not the prettiest woman he¿d ever seen, but damn close.

Somewhere in the middle...look for another book with 5 stars........2007-08-24
I read Sucker Bet by James Swain as well and I must say he brings good stuff that can be great. However, ending is such a "Hollywood" formula that I cannot give 4 or 5 stars.
As with other book by James Swain, he starts off great so he will suck you in but at the end, it fizzles.... and disappoints.
If you have nothing else on your reading list, pick it up and read it but don't expect an original ending.
You'll be turning those pages rapidly.......2006-08-05
This entry in James Swain's Tony Valentine series is stuffed with character, action, plot, a subplot, Oedipal conflicts, and as an extra added bonus, tips on gambling scams.
Valentine, the retired Atlantic City cop turned gambling consultant to casinos, is one of the great new heroes in the thriller genre.
The dialog's crispy, you'll care for the characters, you'll forget lunch, you'll forget dinner.

Loaded With Entertainment.......2006-01-02
Loaded Dice was very entertaining. During the five days that Tony Valentine(the protagonist)spends in Las Vegas, he discovers a scheme that cheats a casino, is accused of murder, has a short romance with an addicted gambler, saves his son, and gets involved with terrorists. Tony did all the work and I relaxed. This is a very easy read and there is lots of interesting information about methods of cheating at games. I recommend this book.
Some repetition.......2005-12-24
But worthwhile none the less. The author shows a growing confidence and the readers follow.
FIRST-CLASS LAS VEGAS CASINO THRILLER.......2005-11-23
Tony Valentine is probably the greatest detective when it comes to spotting gambling cheaters. A retired cop, Tony now works as a gaming consultant in Florida who is retained by casinos across the country to identify grifters and the imaginative methods they use. In "Loaded Dice" he travels to Las Vegas to demonstrate a new computerized cheating device to casino execs and to locate his son who went missing while attending a class on card counting.
Once in Vegas another casino owner, one of Valentine's friends, pleads for help to figure out how con artists are cheating at his blackjack tables before his casino goes under. Smack dab in the middle of the scam is a beautiful woman who reminds Tony of his late wife and attempts to lead him off the trail. In the meantime, Gerry is still missing and Valentine is frantically trying to find him and save his friend's casino from bankruptcy.
There are lots of twists and turns in this thriller and the pages fly by quickly. James Swain's writing style is full of energy and draws the reader into the story. I am not a gambler, but I still found Swain's technique of describing the casino operations and the scams perpetrated by cheaters to be interesting and entertaining. Swain is great at giving his characters life and it's easy to start believing they really exist. The book is jam-packed with drama and suspense, but Swain still manages to add humor to his characters and makes it is as fun as it is thrilling. And finally, he gives Valentine and his son Gerry emotional depth. There is an underlying theme of hope and forgiveness between them and of getting a second chance in life.
"Loaded Dice" is a superbly upbeat and engaging novel. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a mystery or an action thriller. But I warn you... reading this novel will turn you into a James Swain fan!

Not Free SF Reader.......2007-09-03
After the crazy carnage of the first book, the only hope for the forces of good is the superpowered Celtic earth warrior, the Morigu. Will even he be enough? Probably not, given how this is going.
If you can read, READ THIS BOOK!.......2007-04-19
It's been 20 years since I received this book to read. After two years of painful searching (longing really), I was able to purchase it. This is simply some of the best writting I have ever read. It holds its own with the best. For eighteen years I have faithfully read this book a least once (sometimes more) each year. It just never gets tired. It's the only book that I've read that I can now open ANY page and get totally taken up in the story. Even knowing what is going to happen doesn't deter the authors crisp, detailed, gut wrenching writting style, and raw emotions this book will pull out of you. I thank my friend Steve for allowing me to read the book for the first time so long ago. This is a MUST read for any fantasy fan.
Want More.......2005-10-19
I love this book, along with the sequel Morigu: The Dead. This was some fast paced, large scale fantasy. But be warned, the series was never completed. From what I have been able to gather, Mr. Perry's publisher dropped him after the second book, and he has found work in Hollywood. Given the length of time now, I seriously doubt he will finish the series even if he was willing. It is a shame, since those who have read these books love them.
Possibly one of the best of the genre.......2005-03-29
I own both books. I hope for a third(and a fourth..?) This series presents a level of realism to an unreal universe. The characters, factions, events, and even the magic are presented in such a fashion that the story has a level of believability that is lacking in most titles of the genre. Without going into specifics, the characters and story undergo a large amount of change and development for such a short read. This is even more astounding considering the multitude of major players in the storyline. All in all, wonderful books. Just wish there were more (Hint, hint Mr. Perry)
Great Book!.......2004-09-15
I first picked up Morigu the Descrecration when I was 17 years old at an airport in St. Louis on a flight to Germany after completing basic training in 1986. I read through the entire book on the flight and spent the next three years anxiously anticipately the sequel. Unfortunately it was closer to 5 to 6 years before the sequel Morigu: The Dead came out but it was so worth the wait. This book combines the vast fantasy kingdoms and conflicts of Tolkien with the great fantasy characters of R.E. Howard and other greats. I absolutely love this setting and only hope that the final installment will one day be written.

This definitive guide to the history, symptoms, effects, theories, treatment, continuing research, and recent advances covers all that anyone who has been touched by this devastating illness needs to know to understand, treat, and live with it. Furthermore, this book details the tremendous strides that are being made in the search for the cause and the cure for CFIDS, and provides sufferers with the latest information on what they can do to best treat the symptoms they suffer from. For many of the victims of CFIDS, there are often more questions than answers. Here at last are the facts from the acknowledged expert.
Customer Reviews:
Chronic Fatigue Described.......2007-01-12
This is by far the best book I've read on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I've suffered with it for 30 years. Anyone who has it or knows someone who has it would benefit from reading what Dr. Bell has to say.
ring a Bell?.......2006-08-02
Bell's book is now an antique, but I suggest it if you really cannot get a dignosis of that mysterious, painful disease which, among other things, has virtually eliminated any possibility of sustained exercise; that is, provided you can get no meaningful diagnosis of it. Do not expect one. Possibly the most denied, derided, trivialized disease of the Western world, with absurd diagnostic criteria and case definition attributed to it, this ancient echo of reason is an isolated one.
A comprehensive guide.......2006-06-26
A good grounding in Chronic Fatigue Syndromes with a comprehensive guide into the syndrome. Suitable for medical practitioners and also the general public.
I would recommend it

BUY THIS BOOK FOR YOUR DOCTOR.......2004-10-27
Buy two copies of this book: one for you and one for your doctor.
Dr. Bell repeatedly makes the point that if the symptoms "don't make sense" it's because the doctor doesn't recognize what he's seeing, and not because the patient is imagining things.
He tells you (and your doctor) how to differentiate between CFS and look-alikes, such as depression, and goes into great detail about what *subtle* things the doctor should be looking for in a physical exam, things that might otherwise be overlooked because they're almost normal.
I've been quoting from this book since it was written, and expect to still be quoting from it (and using it to bash recalcitrant doctors over the head!) for another 20 years.
Brilliant and humane.......2001-07-15
A marvelous, humane, comprehensive look at the mysteries of chronic fatigue syndrome. Dr. Bell, perhaps the best medical writer I have ever encountered, takes on an immensely complex subject and sets forth in clear and concise terms what is known about CFS, what still isn't, what theories and treatments have been rejected and what theories and treatments are still under exploration, and where he thinks the future is headed. Most importantly, Dr. Bell clearly and decisively rejects the misguided notions that this disease is somehow the product of malingering or just a fancy word for depression, and offers encouragment to those who suffer not only from the disease but from the frustration of not being understood by their families or their physicians. I cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone with an interest in CFS.
