Book Description
In this richly illustrated book, Richard Osterberg provides a thorough look at the sterling silver utensils which have entranced collectors throughout the years. The perfect complement to the crisp linen, fine china, and elegant crystal of a well-set dining table, sterling silver flatware by many of the most renowned makers and in the loveliest of patterns is pictured here. While sterling silver patterns can be simple or elaborate, this book makes clear that all of them are beautiful. From delicate berry spoons to poultry shears, bouillon ladles, and carving sets, individual place settings and serving pieces are organized in chapters to make matching your pieces an easy task. A newly updated price guide and helpful research charts are included for use with your own collection.
Customer Reviews:
Gorgeous "coffee table" book.......2005-08-29
This book is full of absolutely beautiful photos of (mostly old) American sterling place and serving pieces. Its strength is to help identify unusual pieces that people today don't have a clue about. Not very useful for identifying patterns, unless you happen to stumble across a photo of a pattern whose name you are seeking. Patterns are not indexed, but types of pieces are. The price guide (e.g., $30 to $85 for a teaspoon) is absolutely useless. Interesting form to photocopy to use to keep track of pieces you acquire.
Informative Book on Sterling Flatware with Great Pictures.......2002-09-28
I could not be more pleased with this book. It contains page after page of beautifully photographed flatware and contains the history of numerous popular patterns and the great number of pieces available in the various patterns, including the rare and unusual pieces.
Sterling Silver Flatware for Dining Elegance, 2nd Edition.......2001-09-12
I could not be more pleased with this book. It is 204 pages of excellent photographs and descriptions of many patterns, along with a history of the unusual pieces and their original uses. The price guide is just *one* page in this book and is meant only to provide a range. Such a guide would be out of date as soon as published, and it is not realistic to expect it to be current or definitive. (It may have been better left out!) This is the finest book I have seen for a serious silver flatware collector.
STERLING SILVER FLATWARE For Dining Elegance, 2nd Edition.......2000-01-20
Lovely pictures and good descriptions for use of various pieces of flatware.
The "Price Guide" is totally useless! Examples: "Dinner Forks $45-110" "Teaspoons $30-85" "Macaroni Servers $295-1250"
All pieces are priced and listed just this way. Listing such a dollar range with no patterns or manufacturers mentioned, makes the price guide of no value.
Book Description
A sumptuous collection of luxurious sketches and watercoloursa must-have for anyone whose heart has been stolen by the City of Lights. From the looming grandeur of Notre Dame to the quaint back streets of Montmartre, no detail of the city escapes the warmth of Moireaus brush.
Customer Reviews:
Beautifully captures the City of Light.......2007-06-17
Fabrice Moireau's watercolors and sketches bring the City of Light to life, and vividly captures the atmospheric city with its teeming cafe life, historic buildings, and new constructions. The book is divided into several segments covering the historic center, Northern Paris, Eastern Paris, Southern Paris, Western Paris, and the Gazetteer provides additional information of some of the prominent buildings featured. Moireau's paintings and sketches are accompanied by Mary Kelly's impressions of Paris, and both perspectives provide a wonderfully warm portrait of the City of Light.
If you like voyage sketchbook ..........2007-05-12
... then you'll love this one. For the sketches of the Parisian scenes are wonderfully well-drawn. Sometimes you'll be amazed to find out the "spots" that you didn't pay much attention on while you were there. Also, It captured all different moods..... and you feel like you are visiting Paris AGAIN!
A beautiful little book!.......2006-02-25
A grand book for travelers to Paris or those already in love with the "City of Lights"!
CORRECTED REVIEW Paris Souvenir.......2004-05-22
A "Paris Sketchbook," captures Paris superbly. Walk again down the streets of Paris, sit in a cafe, or in a paris garden, or wonder again at Paris buildings and architecture. It is all there and captured beautifully my Mary Kelly's precise and spiritual prose, with Fabrice Moireau's water colors of Paris. The pictures and prose combine to be more like a musical piece, one reads and then "hums" like a tune from time to time. If one is looking for that special gift or souvenir of Paris, this is it. Enjoy Paris again and again, or tanalize those who plan a visit to Paris.

Book Description
The wonders of Paris never fail to delight both visitors and inhabitants alike. Like many before him, artist Alain Bouldouyre, a long-time resident of the City of Lights, has been snared by the city's charms. My Paris Sketchbook documents his deep attachment to the capital, presenting a selection of sketches made over the past few years, all executed in watercolor.
Bouldouyre takes us on a very personal tour, visiting both the well-known and less frequented streets and sites the capital has to offer. My Paris Sketchbook evokes the true character of the city's particular palette of colors, its imposing historical architecture punctuated by discreet contemporary interludes, and the eternal romance and beauty of the Seine and its banks. This book will provide a treasured addition to the library for Paris lovers, while enthusiasts of watercolor will appreciate the artist's mastery of this highly popular medium.
Customer Reviews:
This Sketchbook Illuminates The City Of Lights!.......2003-11-16
No city touches my soul like Paris. She is the queen of old world charm, of romantic ambiance, bourgeois elegance and bohemian grit. Fine art and cuisine flourish here, as do sidewalk cafes, flea markets and Parisian attitude. The Pont-Neuf, along the banks of the Seine, is one of my favorite places in the world. Artist Alain Bouldouyre, a longtime resident of the City of Light is obviously another person who has been captivated by the delights of Paris. Monsieur Bouldouyre is an illustrator and the artistic director of Senso magazine.
This richly visual sketchbook, filled with Bouldouyre's elegant watercolors, brings the city to life, in all her glory. His sophisticated palette of colors and sensitive line brilliantly capture the historic architecture, contemporary street scenes, the beauty of the Seine and its banks. The Place de la Concorde is depicted at sunrise. Readers are given a poetic portrait of the various Arrondissements and their attractions at different times of day and night, in natural light and illuminated by streetlights. We are taken to the Louvre, the Opera and down less frequented side streets. Christophe Auduraud's narrative complements the illustrations. Auduraud is a film critic and novelist, and a past scholar of the Villa Médicis, the French cultural institute in Rome.
The book has a lovely flow to it. It is handsomely bound with a linen spine and a color-washed cover painting. The paper is a heavy cream colored, heavily ribbed stock with notes written in longhand alongside the vibrant sketches. If you have been to Paris, this is a wonderful remembrance. If you have never been there, Bouldouyre' watercolors capture the city's essence better than any photograph could.

Book Description
The enchanting City of Lights shines as never before--in watercolor! Previously, painter David Gentleman used his creativity and keen eye to evoke his native Britain. He now ventures beyond his own shores to express his passion for the beautiful city of Paris, with its leafy boulevards, Metro, Luxembourg Gardens, and "architectural survivors" of a time gone by. A palpable sense of history emerges in representations of the splendid seventeenth-century buildings and courtyard of the Marais and the Faubourg St. Germain, while he catches Paris's vitality in its vibrant café life.
"A marvelous watercolour guide to the splendours of the city."--The Sunday Times. "A satisfying and strongly personal celebration of the sights of Paris..."--Spectator.

An attractive, insightful look at my favorite city........2001-07-16
This is a superb look at Paris. First catching the eye are the gorgeous watercolor sketches of the city and its people. Then the text grabs one's attention... a carefully considered, affectionate and very personal description of a Paris thet is not only a repository of culture but also a vibrant, ever-changing city. A delightful book in every respect! I couldn't give it enough stars.

A command of language to die for.......2000-08-24
Exteriors is Ernaux for Ernaux fans - this is not a narrative but rather a collection of entries regarding every day life observed closely. This is also the first book I read by Ernaux - I was hooked by the writing style. Ernaux has the unusual ability to write prose that appears on the outside to be highly descriptive of the exterior of events. Yet in this careful observation, she portrays a highly interior response to the externals.
The description of the clerk in the shopping mall has remained in my memory for years as has her description of the changing landscape of transit stations. Few authors could make such details interesting, even fewer make them significant. Ernaux succeeds at both.

Book Description
Don Corleone said it best-but these days, it's harder than ever to know how to act like a real man. Now, renowned actor and true-life man's man Frank Vincent--famed for his unforgettable tough-guy roles in such classic films as Raging Bull, Goodfellas, and HBO's The Sopranos--shows how any man can be all that he can be in love, work, play, and life, including:
-Getting the best women by being the best man
- Dressing like a champ
- Winning big money and big respect in Las Vegas
- Choosing the right song to set the right mood
- Knowing how to eat-and cook-like a man
- Movies that men will always love
- Selecting, smoking, and savoring a great cigar
Remember: if you want to learn how to be a man's man, you gotta learn from a man's man. And that man is Frank Vincent
Customer Reviews:
If you have $100K burning a hole in your pocket Frank tells you exaclty what to do with it........2007-07-21
A quick read book with a great list of songs, drinks, food, and places to stay in Vegas. Only if you have the cash to burn to purchase all the man's man accessories and dinners that Frank speaks of. Besides all the items to buy Frank does give excellent advice on how to dress and how to groom yourself. Which is a lost art and should be reinstated for most. Also the excellent interviews with other men's men were an inside look that most of us will never see.
3 stars only because it costs way too much to be a man's man!
None other than..........2007-06-18
I have to say Frank Vincent is one of, if not my favorite "Wise Guys" next to Tony Sirico, Vincent Pastore and others. I have seen him in many films, and even though he was not the star, he can still command the screen. I'm also glad he is finally getting his due, especially as "The Sopranos" fades into televison and film history as one of the greatest shows ever.
While he does portray a ruthless, heartless thug in most, if not all of the films he has appeared in, he still has the ability to express a human side and win the viewer's heart. In fact, he's the type of guy you wouldn't mind shooting the s88t with at the local pub.
In this book, he teaches the finer points of "being a man", but so much more than clothing and other adorments. It's about respect for yourself, others and carrying yourself in a positve way. In esscence, it's more than just "you". Definitely give this book a shot.
Is He Serious?.......2007-06-10
I couldn't tell whether Mr. Vincent wrote this book tongue in cheek or if he was serious. If it was tongue in cheek, then it was a very funny book and a real look at goombas who want to think they're players. If he was serious - wow! This is wild.
Perfect for girls who love a Man's Man.......2007-06-06
I've hated every character this guy has played but he sure writes a terrific book. Funny, sarcastic, informative . . . if your boy or man is a slob, a hippie, a beatnik, or any of the above, get him this book. He'll be whipped into shape in no time. And you will be writing Frank Vincent 'thank you' cards, believe me.
A must read for Generation X and Y's.......2007-05-25
While the book becomes impractical at times (most people don't "do Vegas" with James Caan), it is an excellent read and shows excellent values.
While not a traditional "self help" book, this book goes a long way to laying the foundation of what it measn to be a "man" without in any way being sexist. It allows one to "rediscover" respect: for yourself, for you "lady", and for others. While the book at times goes a bit too far in name dropping, it nevers does so in a self-conceited manner.
After reading this book, I felt a real desire for taking Frank Vincent out for a drink and a cigar. He comes across as a person you would just like to hang around with.
Book Description
America's favourite uncancelled show made a tremendous comeback with its fourth season in summer 2005. After a three–year hiatus, Family Guy returned triumphant, garnering a second Emmy nomination and rating in the top 5 most watched shows among viewers 18 to 34. After strong sales of Stewie's Guide to World Domination, and strong projections for Family Guy: The Official Episode Guide, we introduce to the reading public Brian Griffin's Guide to Booze, Broads and the Lost Art of Being a Man.
From the mouth of the Griffin's bon vivant pooch come words of wisdom––in English mind you. More than just the family dog, Brian is the most learned and eloquent of the family, with insights as sharp as his speech is slurred, and a wit as dry as his martinis. Within this mighty tome he waxes philosophic on unrequited love, the relationship between master and dog, the adult film industry, and just how hard it is for a dog to get a bone.
Customer Reviews:
Super Funny!.......2007-01-26
It's a quick and hilarious read. My favorite parts are the "guest essays" from Stewie and Peter. If you're a Family Guy fan, you'll love this book.
Hilarious!.......2006-10-19
