Book Description
Portraits not only capture a likeness, but offer for generations to come a glimpse into the subject's life. Sounds like quite a challenge. But with Ann Kullberg's help, it's not as difficult as one might think to create lifelike colored pencil portraits.
Using her own beautiful portraiture for instruction and inspiration, Kullberg walks artists through the process step by step--from basic information about materials and techniques to two demonstrations that show how complete portraits come together from beginning to end.
Readers will also find Kullberg's secrets for making their portrait come alive, along with 17 mini-demos that make it easy to paint realistic features, hair and clothing.

Colored Pencil Portraits: Step by Step.......2007-09-14
This book is equally useful for beginning colored pencil artists through more advanced portrait artists. It is a must read for beginners, as I am. Author Anita Kullberg begins with basic colored pencil techniques, composition and the all-important skills of using light, dark and mid tone values. Then, she leads the reader through the step-by-step techniques of painting skin tones, facial characteristics and realistic hair. By the time I painted my second portrait using Kullberg's techniques described in this book, my painting was believable and recognizable. Far more important to the amateur, I really liked my work! The book is indexed for an easy search for content and Kullberg's "Hints" are real gems. This is a great reference book in addition to the tutorials.
Best book on colored pencils ever!!!!.......2007-08-08
This book was spectacular. The author and artist is absolutely amazing. When I found the book I had no idea how to blend and make skin tone with colored pencil being a black and white pencil artist, but I was able to read her instructions and use them to make my first colored pencil portrait and it looked fantastic. If you are an aspiring portrait artist and you want to learn colored pencils, this is a book you can't do without!
Colored Pencil Portraits: Step By Step.......2007-07-31
This book got me started on colored pencil, it was my very first introduction to the medium. Ann Kullberg through her enthusiasm is incredibly motivating- with carefully thought out step by step techniques and beautiful paintings to show you exactly how she achieved each effect. She goes through every process of creating a portrait in colored pencil starting from a blank page- learning the tools; to composition; right up to the business of selling your work. Ann is also very humble and took the time to answer all of my questions personally when I wrote her a letter. It was because of this and the great joy I got from working through her lessons I went to one of her workshops. She is a patient teacher who will not hesitate to help another-sharing all of her secrets. Ann Kulberg is of great strong moral character and a master of her trade. I would recommend any product she has created.
Colored Pencil Portraits: Step-By-Step .......2007-05-14
This is a wonderful book. It is very informative if you want to learn to work with colored pencils. I recommend it to any bidding artist!
If you can attend her workshop-do it!!!.......2007-04-17
I just attended her portrait workshop for 3 days & can tell you that this gal is the real deal! She's genuinely gifted & has such a wonderful & bubbly personality! I had attended a workshop 2 yrs. ago from a different cp artist & vowed not to go to any more until I decided to go to Ann's (whose workshop I wished I could've took in 2005 instead of Arlene's). This book will help you so much!! I am used to doing colored pencil with the scumbling method which takes forever!! Ann has developed the most amazingly easy technique that is so much faster & looks just as good if not better!! I think the only bad reviews must be by her ex! Ha! I want to attend the 2nd workshop someday that goes with her 2nd book. I have her CDs that go with her books & CDs of her online magazine for colored pencil. All are so helpful!! Her method & books will help even the worst of artists I believe! Thank you Ann for all of your help!!

Speaking of images, this word expresses precisely the essence of the art of quick sketching like no other can, in that portrait sketching is all about capturing a discernable likeness of the subject in lieu of an exact photographic imagery.

Its contents reveals in condensed form the secrets and applicable techniques of quick sketching, developed from decades of successful experiences by the artist and author. Benjamin Jackson, is an artist of international repute as painter, illustrator, designer, and teacher his repertoire is prolific in each category. So much for the formalities as previously promised to avoid rhetorical redundancy, lets get busy the very moment this standing or lay flat portable combo book and easel is in your hands, which includes: (1)PRERENDERED SKETCHES IN BLACK AND WHITE AND ETHNICALLY TINTED PAPER. (2) CHARCOAL PENCILS IN WHITE AND BLACK. (3) FLAT KNEADED ERASER (4) STUMP FOR SHADING. (5) 12 BLANK TINTED PRACTICE SHEETS. (6) TRANSPARENT WIPE CLEAN VISUALZATION PRACTICE SHEETS.

BAD CHOICE!.......2007-02-13
This is a poor excuse for a book! It has a couple of pages of [...] "how to draw a head" instructions. The rest of the book is just sketches of portraits. You could get a MUCH better book than this to learn portrait drawing. Save your money! I sent mine back for a refund!

Book Description
An introduction to maritime prints, drawings and watercolours which is written for experts and enthusiasts alike. The text includes a historical survey tracing the development of marine art and exploring the technique and subject-matter of the pictures.

Book Description
The Cottington Archive reluctantly announces that more information about the infamous Lady Cottington has surfaced: a scrapbook compiled by the fairy smasher herself of her correspondence with luminaries such as Queen Victoria, Annie Oakley, Igor Stravinsky, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Andrew Lang, P.T. Barnum, and more. All about fairies, these hilarious letters contain everything from wisdom to suggestions to chastisement. Lady Cottington has made notes in the margins not to mention smashed fairies throughout (will she EVER STOP this nasty habit?!). And the fairies...ah the fairies...they too have done their part, sprinkling magic and mayhem throughout.
Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Letters, a facsimile reproduction of Lady Cottington's original volume, combines the nutty artistry of the first two Lady Cottington books with delightful novelty components. Containing "actual" letters, invoices for "spiritual services," a fairy Valentine, an invitation from Alice Liddell to tea, and more, this newest interactive addition to the Lady Cottington series is the most innovative to date.
Customer Reviews:
nice artwork and intresting writing.......2007-09-22
I enjoyed the artwork in this book. And the creativite that went into the letters.
A Wonderful Tribute to our Friends the Fairies.......2007-09-08
My daughter and I love reading about fairies and this book was delightful. It is creative and beautiful to look at.
Faerie Wonderful.......2007-01-12
This book is so nice I bought one for my mom for her birthday! Of course it was part of a huge stack we took to have Brian Froud sign - which makes it even more sweet! Very funny reading and the drawings are just fabulous!
Such fun! Such artistry!.......2005-12-30
I am a big fan of Lady Cottington's work, and this is another great installment in the series.
The artistry is amazing - the amount of work required to not only paint (or "squash") the fairies is immense, but then to paint a "mirror" on the opposite page, and have it look like a fairy really was pressed between the pages - I can't even begin to imagine how much work it took!
The authors clearly had fun putting this together. Although there is no "plot", you get a sense of a story - Lady Angelica is plaqued by fairies, and is also missing her mother, so she writes letters to famous people and collects the responses, with further tauntings by fairies.
The books is extremely amusing! There were moments when I laughed out loud - for instance, on the inside back cover, there is a list of the letters and their authors, as well as a short bio on the author. W. S. Gilbert is described as being "...the very model of an English playwright/lyricist."
One of the most Unusual, Original and Unique book I have ever had ! .......2005-09-21
This is a must have for Froud fans, this book is so incredibly imaginative. Kind of a pop-up, pull-out 3-D for adult faery lovers. Totally unexpected silliness (even for Froud), also the same touching sweetness as with all the Cottington Books, Sweetness you say, a book about Squished Faeries? YES! believe it or not, very touching, I was quite surprised when I read the first Cottington, and it has continued on with this latest release, but with special little seals, envelopes to open and read, such fun, and almost like you really are seeing into some other person personal past life. That's why I so carefully opened and removed the content of each little envelope, it felt like they may crumble away with age. I really was taken with this book as you can tell. But then don't take my word for it see for yourself. This book is special!
Customer Reviews:
Shrunken Faries.......2004-03-13
This book is a beautiful shrunken version of the "Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book". It is an exact replica only about 1/8th the size of the original, which is something to be aware of if purchasing for yourself. This book makes a great gift book for almost anybody, the story is comical and the art work breathtaking.
Just like the original bigger version!.......2003-06-27
This is a great book. I got is as a gift, although I already had the bigger, original version. It's cute, the cover and all the pages are exactly the same, just shrunk down. A great gift for a fairy lover

Artistic tour de force from Brian Froud.......2007-02-22
Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Letters Upright Desk Set is a cut above the average set of illustrated notelets on the market. Brian Froud's fairy art not only exhibits an outstanding command of colour, line and composition but also bespeaks a unique sense of humour and character. The five subjects are each repeated three times for a total of 15 notelets with accompanying envelopes and are presented in a very attractively decorated sturdy millboard case - just the gift for any lover of Brian Froud's imaginative creations.
Book Description
The perfect place to keep lists and record ideas. Features pressed fairies throughout plus a ribbon bookmark. 128 lined pages.
Customer Reviews:
So cute!.......2007-01-05
This journal is well-constructed with high quality paper and binding. Each page has some kind of fairy on it, which takes up some of the writing space but not an obtrusive amount. It has a ribbon to mark your page.
This is an actual journal to write in.......2006-02-22
This is not another installment in the Lady Cottington's series, nor should it be confused with "Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Journal (Hardcover)". This is an actual honest-to-god journal. You know, one you write in. With blank pages. Well, the pages aren't actually blank - they are lined. And have some of the squashed fairy art/stickers from other books. Plus, out of 128 pages (according to the product info), there are only 13 pages that repeat over and over and over.
