Book Description
The thing that can make or break a manga is the expression of machines.automata. Those anime-like whirring and thwacking mecha sounds create real excitement. In this book, the basics from the first two books in the series are used in expressive techniques to create outrageous imaginary automata, cars, motorbikes, explosions, fires, imaginary animals, ocean waves, clouds and other effects.

Backgrounds, mecha's, and manga creation.......2004-11-23
A complement to the earlier editions of this series, this book teaches you how to draw mecha's (daily machines), nature and animal characters, rounding off on how to put together a short story. There are helpful tips such as time-savers when drawing effective backgrounds even if there is less detail. The book is geared towards the aspiring mangaka, showing how drawings begin in sketches, inked, and toned in a step-by-step manner.
All in all, this book is more for the person interested in drawing manga. Not recommended for the average learner who just wants to draw manga style and not interested in creating a manga.

I loved this book the moment I cracked it open. Lots of great tips on how to draw houses (inside and outside), trees, clouds, water, rocks, and all sorts of nature things that I couldn't draw before. I highly recommend this book to any artist. Some drawing skills are needed for this book to be very effective, though.

Must Have.......2007-08-23
If your doing weddings or want to start, this book is excellent. It will get you thinking outside the box.
Wonderful.......2007-07-09
It truly provides you great techniques and shows you how one can really take the best photos in a wedding
Worth every penny, even more........2007-06-08
This trade seems to be flooded with newcomers, and there's a number of authors that are taking advantage of them with publications of all kinds that are high on promise, yet weak on content. This book is NOT one of them. Profiling the techniques and personal philosophies of the trade's top photographers, it offers the Zen of great wedding photography. Inspiring, educating and one of the best stimulators to the creative mind available on the subject today. This is a top notch book with much to offer, even to the experienced professional. A refreshing change, and truly a high-dividend investment to any wedding photographer, regardless of experience level.
Very good book, especially for someone who has never done weddings or done only a few........2007-03-03
This book has good layout and detail of the photos included. Even though most of the pictures were taken with Nikon cameras, the subject doesn't change, it's still based on shooting weddings.
It starts with the pre-wedding planning and finishes with the album and it's design. (As most of the wedding photography books are) It's a fast read and has some good photos to learn from.
If you were an assistant to a photographer, you probably know more than this book covers, but it's a great start for anyone who's just begining.
Buy it for the pictures!.......2007-01-30
I really loved this book and read it avidly from cover to cover. However I found it pretty light on "technique" To my mind statements such as "it is a good idea to have a selection of white, silver, gold, and black reflectors" or "as your groups get bigger keep your depth of field under control" are a little broad and far too basic to be "technique"...I guess I expected something a bit more technical, though as I write this it seems overly picky. Never mind, it made up for that with the beautiful images, and it was a very interesting read, but it was more of a what you could do than a how to, if you get my meaning. I mean if you don't know which depth of field you should use in a group you probably shouldn't be photographing someones wedding!!
But again it gets top marks for looking at the unstaged philosophy of wedding photojournalism and backing that up with beautiful appropriate images.

The Photobook: A History - Volume 2
ASIN: 3832791620 |
Book Description
Elliott Erwitt personally selected this stunning collection of work, two thirds of which have never been published before. The generous format of the book and large number of double-page spreads allow you to admire the master's technique and the artistry up close. Every image is photography at its most ebullient and life-enhancing and each reflects the scope of Erwitt's perceptive and eclectic eye. Here is a fitting tribute to this Magnum photographer who has shot such Hollywood legends as Marlene Dietrich and Marilyn Monroe, yet whose delight in everyday irony has captured many witty moments, including his famous portraits of people and their dogs. The full range of Erwitt's genius on display in this magnificent volume including photographs of Kruschev and Nixon in Moscow in 1959, Tehran in 1967 and a tender moment at a wedding in Israel in 1962.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent!.......2007-08-09
The pictures talk for themselves, and they're given their full importance. It's filled with whole-page pictures, which is good, because you can really focus on them and make your own guess or interpretation, and then find out more about it in the back, but also has a bit of a down side, considering that the book is really heavy, so it can get a little tiring if you have to constantly check. Nevertheless, I willingly did.
the perfect book.......2007-01-09
not difficult reviw this book...is perfect : no number in the page , and one of the best Magnum potographer , and good price.!
more is less.......2006-12-22
having just received this book I very quickly came to the conclusion that the "design" is a serious impediment to using and enjoying the book. First of all the weight, size and bulk make it impossible to enjoy with any degree of comfort - and at normal 'reading distances' the double page spreads require the head to roam around the page. Secondly, many of the images across double pages have their effect ruined by the spine. Many of the double page spreads are grossly over enlarged - some are rather out of focus to start with. Anybody interested in Erwitt would find much in these pages to enjoy, and indeed many of the images are of great quality. Sad that the "designer" has strove to acheive the wow factor associated with a slab of book on a bookshelf, rather than actually try to understand the elementary aspects of using and enjoying a book.

The Art Of Seeing 2.......2004-06-14
I really enjoyed viewing The Art of Seeing 2, by Reuters. Coming from a journalism point of view, the photographs in this book are stunning! The book truly does capture some of the most significant moments in recent history. The photos range from important sports and celebrity moments to symbolic or historical political statements.
Since the photos are taken from an agency that shoots primarily photo journalistic photos, some people may not appreciate some of the photos. The true beauties of these images lie in the capture of the moment and emotion and truth. I really enjoyed many of the political and war photos, very in your face. Some of them were shocking, taking me back in realization and touched me at the same time. In a solely artistic sense, the pictures had a great sense of composition and lighting however they are documentary. This is definitely not printed to act as a fine art book, more of just a collection of incredible pieces of journalistic work. The book definitely demonstrates the talent pool found in the world of photo-journalists.

excellent photojournalist book.......2003-07-02
an excellent photojournalist book with a very good edit
The absolute best of photojournalism.......2002-11-07
Let me start this review by saying that I am *not* a photojournalist. I am an art photographer, and unlike these people at Reuter, I take weeks or months to perfect a print when they need only hours (although I am limited my darkroom availability at my school). So, I was judging this book not as a photojournalist book, but as a serious art photography book, since that is what I know.
That being said, this is an EXCELLENT art phorography book. I picked up this book to look at in Borders after being fascinated by the cover photography, which is more of an art photograph than anything. It was absolutely beautiful, with human faces blocked by simle white masks, and only black in the abckround. I didn't know this was a photojournalist book, I thought it was art photography. So, being so in love with the cover, I sat down and looked through every single photograph. About 1/5 of the book is sports photography, and I am not at all into sports, so I didn't much like those sections, but the rest more than makes up for it.
All of these photographs are greatly crafted and precise technically. There are beautiful ones like the one on the front, hillarious ones, ones that look unbelievable (I'm thinking of one with a skelton model about 50 feet high raised out of the water in a lake looking at a huge "book of life" that's actually an opera stage. I thought it was a digital piece of art at first!). The best, and most moving photographs in this book however are the war photographs. These are very, very hard to look at, but they show you what war is really like, the things you don't see in the regular news media. You see bodies burned so taht the yellow fat and muscles show. You see a body hunched over a railing with almost all of his back blown off and scattered about him, where you can see straight into the empty cavity of his back. You see a man shotting another man in a gutter. These are not fun to look at, but tehy are important, give such impact that the breath is knocked out of you several times.
This book is not for the faint of heart, but it is one of the best photography books I have seen. And to pay $[money]for a 200 page hardback is a real deal. Buy this book, if you can stomach teh ahrsh war photographs you won't regret it! And even if you can't, there's plenty of other, easy to view, excellent photographs.

Book Description
The adventurers visit the beach, but there's no time to relax - Pokemon can be found everywhere! Maron disappears in the water to help a Horsea. Who will tell Armondo and Pikachu that she's safe?
Customer Reviews:
Very funny!.......2000-11-22
This comic is about a girl called Amber who wants to be a Pokemon Master. Most of the time, Amber is out catching all the Pokemon she can, but today Amber and her friends decide to take a day off from Pokemon catching at the beach. This book had some really funny parts, such as this one: Amber shows up on the beach wearing a bikini, but the boy that she's got a crush on doesn't seem to notice. Amber's Pikachu comes up to Amber's crush and says something to him, and he says, "Yes, I noticed what she's wearing!" For some strange reason Amber's crush can understand Pokemon language, but I don't know why. The part of the comic that I thought was hysterical was this part: Amber dives underwater after a Horsea, and when she has trouble breathing, the Horsea puts something in her mouth that lets her breathe. Now that she can breathe and talk underwater Amber gives the Horsea a BIG hug and says, "Thank you!! I can breathe! I can breathe!!" Unfortunately, Amber was hugging the Horsea too tight, and she was making it hard for him(Horsea has a crush on a mermaid, so I'm sure Horsea's a boy)to breathe, and he says, "I can't." I thought that was very funny! Also, the other comics are funny, too. For example, when Jigglypuff was making a Christmas present to give to someone at a big Christmas party, she decided to give someone a pressed flower. Jigglypuff gently put a flower in between the pages of a book, then slammed the book shut! I thought that was very funny, too! However, there are somethings about the books that even I don't like. Mainly, Amber and her crush. I don't really like Amber because I think she's kind of annoying. Not only that, she's really hyper.(My aunt's Daschund puppy has less energy than Amber!) And the reason why I don't like Amber's crush is that he's kind of headstrong. I mean, when Amber got in trouble with a Tangela,(a Pokemon that's completely covered in blue vines) Amber's crush didn't have a fire Pokemon, so he decided to cut the vines off of Tangela!(Luckily, Amber stopped him)I think this was totally uncalled for. I mean, Tangela has feeling in it's vines, which means that if it got it's vines cut off, it would be the same as cutting off one of its fingers or something like that! Aside from the annoying characters this book is really funny, and I think a lot of people would enjoy reading it!
Great pokemon comic.......2000-08-23
This is a very good comic book. I love the pictures. They are drawn very well and nicely. I think the story is a little bit weird. The story is about Maron seeing a horsea and helping it. Maron dives deep into the ocean. After quite a while, she sees a mermaid with a crown. She starts worrying, because seeing a mermaid was really strange. Maron's boyfriend, Almond was still on the beach with her pikachu. They waited and waited, but Maron didn't come back up. You will have to read the comic to find out what happens next, because I really encourage everybody to buy this if they are a pokemon fan or a japanese manga fan. It would be a great gift for children. I would recommend this book to girls more, because it's about funny stuff and sometimes about friendship.
Overall, This is a great book but I didn't give it five stars, because the book does not have as good a storyline as I expected.
I really think this book is at a very reasonable price. I really encourage pokemon fans to buy this book.
Have a fun time reading this book.
