Love it!.......2007-09-08
I have been searching for months for the right baby book and my mother and I found this one. It has everything that you could dream of from all of the firsts to the little things that we sumtimes forget. It has a great binding and is great for a boy or girl. My cusion is getting ready to have her first child also and I plan on this being the book I get for her. The only draw back is that it doesn't have a lot of room to write about the 2nd- 5th birthday but I plan on creating a scrap book to go with it so if you want to be able to add more about those birthdays try to be creative.
THE baby book of all baby recording books!.......2007-04-26
I had this book for my son and bought one for my second son this year. It's such a perfect size and contains the right amount of recording pages from year one through school grades. You can't go wrong with Susan Branch ~ her artwork is so charming.
An amazing keepsake.......2006-07-05
This is an amazing keepsake book. When I first read through this book I was so moved and touched by the kind, gentle words and poems. This book is so warming and beautiful I recommend it to everyone who's looking for an amazing memory album. It's just wonderful. The words and illustrations are light in color but meaningful and to the point. I am sorry I couldn't get one for my other two children.
I Have One For Each Of My Six Kids.......2006-06-27
My mother gave me a copy of this book for my first child born in 1994. I am a little picky about things such as baby books and I loved this one. The illustrations are darling. The pages have little quotes and drawings in the corners. The author gives some pages with specific things to write about and many empty pages for whatever you want. I have just received my sixth copy for my last child. I love this book. I still pull out my now twelve year old's book and read it. It has congratulation cards, birthday cards, his first teeth, locks of hair, his birth announcement, and those of his siblings stuck into it,- yet there is still a little space to write a little something more.
You will enjoy filling this wonderful book for your bundle of joy!.......2005-11-08
i bought this book for my baby boy and i've got to tell you all, you will not regret buying it. from the very first day you found out you were pregnant, to the time he moves inside your tummy, to the day he/she gets born, info. about their weight length through different stages to teething, favorite food, foot and hand prints..etc. no kidding, YOU'LL love this book. i've bought also "winnie the pooh keepsake book", wasn't as good as this one though. it's the best so far :)

Whimsical and Sweet.......2007-04-14
This book by Susan Branch is indeed a quaint keepsake. It`s filled with easy recipes, quips, quotes, and fun stories. I especially like that each page is unique and pleasing to the eye. With her own whimsical artwork and hand written style, I found it most enjoyable!
Lovely Gift Book.......2004-05-22
This is a beautiful book to give at a bridal shower or as a wedding gift. There are wonderful drawings and the quotes and sayings are lovely. I especially love the "advice on marriage":
When you marry him, love him
After you marry him, study him
If he is secretive, trust him
If he is sad, cheer him
When he is talkative, listen to him
When his quarrelsome, ignore him
If he is jealous, cure him
If he cares naught for pleasure, coax him
If he favors society, accompany him
When he deserves it, kiss him
Let him think how well you understand him
But never let him know that you manage him.
Susan Branch is the best.
This book is absolutely Romantic!!!.......1999-05-07
This is the first book I have bought by Susan Branch and I could not put it down. Her ideas are so wonderful. In fact - I am going to buy every single one of her books. I love the quotes and sayings. There are so many wonderful ideas to share with your spouse. A definite must have.
Very creative and romantic.......1998-11-02
This keepsake book is a great gift idea for someone who has recently gotten engaged or as an anniversary gift. It has adorable illustrations and the lists are actually useful (traditional anniversary gifts).
Very romantic and filled with wonderful ideas!.......1997-09-05
I used this book for Valentine ideas for my husband. The steak and potato recipes are divine!
My husband loved it! This makes a terrific wedding shower gift, or just a fun b-day present.
All Susan Branch books are wonderful and this is one of her best!

Enchanted by the luminous colors and ever-changing lucidity of glass, artist Donatella Zaccaria resolved to transform her drawings into translucent mosaics. Her lovely creations shimmer across the pages as she conveys her passion for glass to the reader. She explores all the basics--tools and materials, cutting, welding, design planning, and leading--in the framework of five step-by-step projects, also touching briefly on the fused glass and collage techniques. A photo gallery of 40 more pieces presents lamps, hangings, frames, boxes and candleholders to further spark readers' imaginations; a dozen more works of true stained glass art by the author and by a stained glass painter show us where the medium can go in the hands of the masters. Another dozen pages offer patterns ready for photocopying, for those ready to move on to more advanced levels. --Amy Handy

Good basic instruction -- best for lamps.......2005-11-03
After I began taking a stained glass class, I ran to the library and the bookstore. My instructor is good, but he's only one opinion. I must have looked at a dozen books -- but this one didn't quite make the cut. I might pick it up in the future, but it isn't in my must-have pile.
Like many such books, there are three sections: basic techiques, projects, and a gallery that shows what you can do (but offers no instruction -- just an ooh-ahh opportunity).
The weak part here is the basics. There's nothing wrong with them, but other books have a lot more meat here.
On the other hand, this book is superb at some tasks that get short shrift elsewhere. There are ten pages of instructions for making a Tiffany lamp, including 23 photos that illustrate the steps. I'm just in the process of learning how to do this, in my hands-on class, and this book is giving me a good idea of what's involved.
However, Stained Glass Crafting -- which also has a short intro to glass fusing -- has very few projects. It's more of an extended "here's what you can do with stained glass" overview than an illustrated instruction.
It's a nice book, but it shouldn't be the only one on your shelf.
Nice variety of projects.......2000-08-17
I enjoyed this book for the variety of projects included. Some of the tools and techniques appear to be those used in someplace other than the U.S. It is listed in the catalog as a hardcover book, but I have seen it in softcover at a local chain bookstore (after I had already paid hardcover price.) It is one I refer to fairly often. A good book, but probably not the absolute best for an inexperienced first-timer. For that, I recommend Stained Glass Basics.
Aprendiendo.......2000-04-14
Me interesa la técnica de los vitrales, y creo que este puede ser el inicio de una gran pasión

Finally, some recognition..........2005-01-11
Although the greatness of Rob't. Williams has been admitted by a few so-called "legitimate" art critics, it's high time to admit the genius of people like Von Dutch, Ed Roth, Gene Winfield et al. Kustom Kulture is artistic democracy in action, "The People's Art." This is an attractive book, with much information and great art. If you are even the least bit interested in this subject, this book's for you. I give it an A+.
Roth and Dutch live on.......2000-06-08
I have followed the work of Ed Roth and the late "Von Dutch" since 1953. The word Pioneer doesn't even begin with the work these men have done over the last 45 years. Dutch started the trend of "Free Form" pinstriping, along with painted "figures" and some very unique "Flame Painting" back in the 1950s. Roth started building some very unique vehicles, way ahead of their time. He called himsef a "speed striper" which was a rapid form of pinstriping i,e, "no following around with fine details" yet the work was quite good. This book shows the best examples of both Roth and Dutch, and contains photos that we all thought were lost years ago. "Von Dutch" (a.k.a. Kenneth Howard) was a very underrated man, who was filled with talent and skills that would revel most of today's artists. It was a tragic loss when he died a very lonely man. Roth did a Video of Dutch in the late 1970s, which really showed the "methods to his madness."
I personally have given a tribute to both these men by building a copy of the sign painters box (made in 1919) given to Dutch by his father. Roth has pinstriped a few of these for his charity auctions. This book is a treasure to the art of pinstriping and the "Kustom Kulture" movement.
And excellent read for the "hot road" generation.......1998-08-26
While being a big fan of "Big Daddy Roth", I still appreciate his hot-rod artwork. Shortly after finishing the book, I gave it to "Big Daddy Dean Paulsen", the man who taught Ed Roth everything he knows. Paulsen was pleased to know his understudy is still alive and well.
An eye-poppin hot rod adventure!!!!.......1998-05-14
If you ever wanted to learn about the masters of hot rod art, this is a good place to start. While not the difinitive history of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth,Von Dutch or Robert Williams, this book delves into the rude awakenings of this all American art form. A damn good read.(I just looked at the pictures!!!!)

Good book with less photos than you might expect.......2007-02-28
I really like this book, although I would like to see a lot more photos of cars in a book that focuses on the aesthetic qualities of custom cars. The author successfully argues that kustoms are an art form and then proceeds to analyze various styles of custom cars in relationship to various styles of high art. Good stuff! As for the photos, the most refreshing thing about them is that they are not the same dozen famous kustoms that you've already seen in every other book about custom cars.
Kulture Kids.......2006-03-06
An exhaustive (and exhausting) cross between a fan-rave and a dissertation examining the history and pop-ological intricacies of the brief but very influential rod-and-custom period in America.
Although it is chock full of details and insights into the subject one wonders who exactly it was written for. It often seems much too highbrow and academic for the average kid or gear-head, and I'm sure most academes wouldn't be seen reading anything with so many "purdy pichures". You're left with the impression that it in fact began as a scholarly defense (always check who the publisher is) which, once it appeared to have legs, was tricked out with some chrome and kandy kolors to help find it's way onto American coffee tables.
Still it is well worth having to glean ( for practiced speed readers ) ever more minutia about an era that always spawns endless nostalgia for fans, and eventually, a true sociological and anthropological exegesis for 22 century rustmites.
Street Rodder Hall of Fame Pick.......2002-04-27
Just want to let everybody know that Jerry Weesner of Streetrodder (June 2002) picked Cool Cars, High Art as a Hall of Fame selection with only three other books on the art of customizing.
Blue Collar Art on Parnassus.......2002-04-24
This handsome book is an unusual treatment of its subject for sure. There is a bevy of color photographs to satisfy the aficionado--and to make it an ideal gift for any car-crazy friend. But what I find most striking is the author¹s truly unique take on the car as an art object. Obviously comfortable with the demands of current theoretical discourse, he seems purposefully to prove that the obscurantism that bedevils so much academic prose today is merely self-indulgent. He has helped me grasp much more than just the beauty of the customized car. Readers (and especially teachers in a number of disciplines) will appreciate Prof. DeWitt¹s cunning explications of a Williams poem, a Picasso collage, a Futurist sculpture, and a surprising number of movies and TV shows to support his insights into our car culture.

Barris Kustom Techniques of the 50s: Top Chops.......2000-08-15
This book is a fair representation of showing someone the basics of top chopping. It shows the initial start and finish of their projects but does not show enough of the steps in between to even begin to learn how to do one yourself. It is a good book, however, as far as the variety of projects they show and showing you what you are about to get yourself into as far as difficulty of a project.

Energy Leaping From the Pages.......2000-11-10
Stunningly beautiful, clean and crisply presented. One hundred years hence, this volume will stand as an exemplar of the contemporary aeesthetic. Accessible yet challenging. Unreservedly recommended. (A true bargain at this price, too.)
Book Description

Here Jon shows you how to set up your shop, how to apply primer, and how to put on the final topcoat. In the shop sequences provide a hands-on look at a variety of projects from simple paint application to complex art work.
Customer Reviews:
Commercial for House of Kolors.......2007-01-07
If you use PPG paint, there's nothing there for you. They make painting sound so complicated that you'll want to take your car to a shop. Constantly mentioning supplied air respirators etc... When have you ever seen a painter in a scuba outfit? I know the fumes aren't good for you, but come on!
Good for beginners.......2006-11-10
This book is very interesting to the beginners who wants to know a little about advanced painting techniques. With excellent photos and details.
House of Kolor Advertisement.......2006-07-30
Overall the book didn't flow well. For instance, there were pictures on pages that the text didn't relate to. It did have some good tips but it probable should have been titled "How To Paint With House Of Kolor" than anything else. It definitely would have been better if he had used generic materials instead of House Of Kolor this and House of Kolor that.
OK, but not the best.......2005-10-07
This book contains some good information. Although, it is not put together well. It seems to lack focus and doesn't flow well. There may be a picture on page 3 and the author discusses the picture 5 pages later.
Nice for the intermediate painter.......2005-02-12
This book covers equipment, processes, and project planning very well. There is minimal "how to" for the novice, however. I'd definitely recommewnd a beginning painter start elsewhere, and move into this book.

An excellent tribute to Custom Car Builders.......2000-06-13
I have followed the work of George and(the late) Sam Barris since 1953. Their work set a trend for all custom car builders and owners. George has done a great tribute to many car builders by showing these terrific photos of many cars that we all thought were lost. As one reads thru the book, you begin to realize that these rolling sculptures are true works of art, and several of these vehicles have been featured in museums and art shows. One can thank George for having the ability to photograph these (K)custom cars during the 1950s.
Book Description
This showcase of George Barris hot rods and custom cars created during the swingin 1960s features images from Barris gold mine of archival color and black-and-white photography. George Barris remains the most visible and popular hot rod and custom car builder. His cars, museums, and special exhibits at car shows continue to draw attention, and thousands of hot rod enthusiasts enjoy looking at photos of his older vehicles. He is a hot rodding legend.

Firehouse has created posters for rock bands including Pavement, Pearl Jam, the Beastie Boys, Hole, and the Rolling Stones. Although the artists of the Firehouse Kustom Rockart Company, aka Chuck Sperry and Ron Donovan, have worked with numerous major rock bands, they have maintained their street credibility by furnishing posters for such events as Incredibly Strange Wrestling, which mixes punk bands and Mexican wrestlers. This book contains a rich sampling of their signature silkscreen technique that blends splendid artistry with impeccable craftsmanship -- an eye-popping collection of the rock and roll posters and ephemera that made this studio famous.

Schulz and Peanuts just get better and better!.......1999-02-19
While scrolling through the list of Peanuts books available through Amazon.com, I couldn't help but notice that NONE of these wonderful books has yet received any customer reviews. So let me be the first -- you will NOT regret buying a Peanuts book by Charles M. Schulz! In fact, my personal observation about Mr. Schulz is that his newer strips are even better than the older "classics"! This is a genuinely gifted person. Show your love and respect for "good ol' Charlie Brown" -- buy as many Peanuts books from Amazon.com as you can possibly afford! Your descendants will be profoundly grateful -- and you'll have lots of fun (re)reading them yourself!
