A Rich & Entertaining Read!.......2006-08-31

Chock full of interesting and little known facts about one of the greatest architects in America, the author offers personal insight into several of Hood's greatest projects and also how the man's mind worked. The intimate details of conversations and relationships with the people that Hood worked with round out a very enjoyable reading experience. Highly recommended, even if you are not interested in architecture.

Humorous, entertaining reading about GW's presidency.......2004-10-29

If you want to have some laughs and enjoy reading, then this satire is a must. It is lucid, easy to read. It gives several instances which I cannot believe are not wholly inaccurate. We know that most of us in the 1970s would not have known precisely where these (Iraq, Afghanistan) countries are in this world of ours. So, it is no wonder that Dubiya considers appointing someone Ambassador to the Bermuda Triangle (p. 21). I myself had not owned a foreign car till late in my life primarily because now the multicorporations own companies all over the world. The book talks about 'foreign policy' and Dubiya says he does not own any Foreign Cars! Living in the Texas hill country famous for its informality, one can imagine the confusion about the use of a small spoon (p.84). A similar joke exists with regard to the use of bowl water for rinsing fingers after the main course with another community leader. Those of us who live and work around the Beltway in DC know the tentacles of Halliburton Company which gets a thrashing about milking Government dollars (p.28). Ray Hood has done a wonderful job and hope the book gets a wide reading soon.

Dubbya's Wing ... a funny take on the Bush Administration.......2004-10-08

Readers will find plenty to laugh at in this humorous take on the Bush Administration. Mr. Hood captures Bush's bumbling, dysfunctional administration in a most humorous manner. The depiction of Colin Powell fantasizing putting Bush in a straight jacket is funny -- and sad at the same time; funny because straight jacket constraint is probably the best way to put an end to the controlling ways of Bush and senior members of his administration and sad because one realizes that this administration has paralyzed our contry by controlling its citizens with fear. Bush wondering if Condaleeza Rice and Al Sharpton's use the same hairstylist is hillarious. Mr. Hood must be applauded for this book!

Great book with 659 illustrations and biography of Norman Rockwell written by Christopher Finch. Rockwell's life span (1894 to 1978) is depicted in his paintings and illustrations including Saturday Evening Post, Boys Life and portraits of the United States Presidents of his time. He captured the every day events and human expressions in his unique style that is very heart warming. This is a true classic.

This book is great. The author talks to Norman Rockwell's widow several months after Mr. Rockwell's death and her words are enlightening. The author travels to two of Mr. Rockwells home towns and speaks with people who posed for many of the pictures.
It was heart warming reading this book while looking at the nearly 100 pictures the author describes in detail.
