Painting Better Landscapes.......2006-10-01
On my feedback I had entered the feedback for the wrong book, my apologies, please. This book does have a lot of great information and gives details using great techniques.
Painting better landscapes.......2006-08-22
Well written text, for advanced artist as well as the beginner. Kessler explains her topics very well. She uses a lot of earth tones in most of her paintings, but any artist can adjust the color range to suit their taste.
ESPECIAL PARA ARTISTAS AVANZADOS - SPECIAL FOR ADVANCED ARTISTS.......2006-03-09
This book is marvellous to improve your painting, so much be raw as(like) advanced, but specially it is useful if you go time doing(painting), I believe that it is orientated specially to excel yourself in what already you do. It makes you see the technology(skill) to continuing, since you start inspiring by a photography and its interpretation, the combination of used colors, the best composition, depth, the way of planning with the paintbrush, and many recommendations more rides to excel yourself in already doing a time behind, since it is my case. Advisable for all.
I WARN FOR AMAZON.COM: I am Spanish and a fact of less than a special paragraph to know the publications in my language. All the books that I have bought had been enjoyed by me more if they were translated into the Spanish. THANKS.
Paainting Better Landscapes.......2006-01-31
A very good explanation of design components for landscapes, i.e., what canvas sizes mean, how to set up the composition, nature's colors, etc. She has a "formula", which makes her paintings all look very similar, but the information she reveals is worth the read. I have referred to it again and again, for ideas and help. The only criticism is of her work itself - I found it boring, constantly repeating themes and subjects and styles. But aside from that, it is a great resource, especially for a rookie, who hasn't yet gotten their act together..
A great landscape painting book.......2005-08-10
I have been painting for years and a friend recommended this book to me. It has served a great source for understanding the particulars of landscape painting in oils. I ended up buying it for another friend of mine. I provides an excellent underlying approach to painting. Would recommend it to anyone beginning in landscape painting.

"If it bleeds, it leads" -- the cynical battle cry of today's tabloids -- might easily have been the motto of Arthur Fellig, the freelance photojournalist better known as Weegee, who cruised the streets of 1940s New York in the wee hours of the morning in search of the sensational. His pictures of children sleeping on fire escapes, blood-splattered corpses on sidewalks and amorous couples on the beach -- as seen in this reprint of his first book -- reveal that Weegee, unlike his latter day counterparts, had heart and soul. He also had a cockeyed sense of humor, as evidenced by his captions and camera tips.
Book Description
For Naked City, his first collection, Weegee cruised the streets of 1940s New York in the wee hours in search of the sensational. Lewd, louche, licentious but always brimming with life (except when brimming with death), Weegee's photographs have endured decades of modern art criticism and are again enjoying a much-deserved cult revival.

Big Apple's snapper.......2003-08-12
Weegee knew what kind of photos the editors of the New York daily tabloids wanted, in-your-face gutsy black and whites to capture the reader's imagination over the breakfast table. He always delivered too. This reprint of his 1945 book captures the energy of the Big Apple and yet there are no shots of skyscrapers. Instead the (mostly) ordinary folk of the city are shown getting on with their lives and deaths.
Many of the photos are taken at night, a Weegee trademark. Inside buildings he used infrared film so he could shoot in near blackness and capture his subjects displaying emotions they would hide, had they known a camera was about. Out on the street he captured the latest human tragedy in stark close-up with a blinding flash of his Speed Graphic camera.
The contents of this book are an amazing selection of photos but I was very disappointed by the reproduction, so only three stars. As far as I can tell, the photos have been scanned from the 1945 book rather than from original prints. The paper is coarse which doesn't help the reproduction either. This looks not much better than a book of photocopies. Far better I think to go for Miles Barth's 'Weegee's World' (ISBN 0821226495). Although it does not have every photo from 'Naked City', the 250 included are printed as duotones on glossy paper, I particularly like this book because it shows many photos as original un-cropped prints. For instance, in his famous photo, 'The Critic' the three bystanders to the left of the two socialites are usually cropped out but here you can see how great the original was. This book also has three excellent essays about Weegee and his influence on other photographers in the Forties.
How they lived...and died.......2000-02-05
A fine selection of Weegee's unposed, spontaneous vignettes of life in the city, at least, as it was in the 30's and 40's, equivalent of today's TV "fuzz and the wuzz". His accompanying commentary, unghosted and punchy, mirrors the b/w images; snappy, to the point. The paper stock used here is cheap, but then, these photos usually appeared in the morning paper...in a time when there were newspapers.

Wild and Crazy Vegas Guide!.......2005-08-05
This book proves that Norm Clarke is the "go to" guy for anything and everything that has to do with what's in or not in Las Vegas. It is so much more than a guide, although it has lists for must-see resorts, hottest nightclubs and the Strip's best shows. It is also filled with fun facts on Vegas history, wildest wagers, and famous local characters. Not all of his statistics are accurate (Mickey Rooney only got married 4 out of 8 times in Vegas, not 8 out of 8, and he married Ava Gardner in Ballard, CA, not Sin City), but I still recommend this book as a great source of information.
Vegas Confidential: Norm Clarke!.......2005-04-09
This is a great book for anyone coming to Las Vegas. It covers everything from where to go, what to do and where to go to be seen. The in places and the hottest night spots, everything that makes Vegas, Vegas. If you are planning a trip to Vegas and want to know the ins and outs, here is your guide for the most up to date information on our city.

Insider's Guide to Sin City.......2004-09-16
"1000 Naked Truths" is an indispensable pocket guide for your next trip to Las Vegas. This book has insider tips for getting the most of out Sin City, whether you are on a budget or not. If you are raring to purchase a $1000 dollar martini - Body English at the Hard Rock Hotel is the place to go. At the other end of the spectrum might be the Double Down Saloon. Norm Clarke also takes the guess work out of where to hang to see the most outrageous celebrities and provides detailed scenarios for the ultimate bachelor parties. He also supplies a very handy list of the "top 10 places to propose" and "the top 10 oddest jobs" to be found in Las Vegas.
It is a very cool book, one that will provide ample intel about "what's hot" in Vegas right now and the best part is that after a short reading of it, you can seem to be as connected as Norm is.

Tick The Nacked city.......2006-10-31
The Tick is about a super hero whos power is invulnerabiliy. Tick meets up witha girl named Oedepis who used to be a ninja. Together they try to destroy th ninja community.
Oedepis is running away from a gang of ninjas and she climbs up onto a roof. On the roof she finds Tick. Tick takes down all the ninjas that are following Oedepis.
Tick The Nacked City is a good book if you like a little action but you wanna laugh.I thought it was a pretty good comic book but I have read better comics. If you have something sad on your mind this will cheer you up. Tick does stupid but funny things in the comic. This book showed me that not all comic books have to be all action.
Funny, but is it really for young adults?.......2002-11-23
I was given this as a sort of 'gag' gift, since I was a fan of both the cartoon and the brief live action television show. I will say that this 'graphic novel' contains all the sly humor and off-kilter characters that appeared in other mediums. How can you resist that big blue guy and female characters named 'Oedipus'? Also, the whole ninja component was wonderfully satirical, and I loved Paul the Samurai with his 'killer loaf'.
A Great Collection of The Tick.......2000-02-14
Even if you do not like comics, you will enjoy this. It tells the tale of a mysterious blue stranger who breaks out of a mental asylum to fight crime. Joined by his sidekick Arthur, the duo face many strange people and adventures in the good fight. Reprinting the orginal series' 1st 6 issues, it's an enjoyable, offbeat experience for both kids and adults.Spoon!
Forget the Young Adult category, this is for everyone!.......1998-07-30
I'm not into the comic book scene, but there's something irresistible about the Tick (and Arthur and the others). There's nothing complex about the Tick, and I think that's what appeals to me. You can just sit back and laugh your butt off. Don't miss the spin-off characters who have their own collections, especially Man-Eating-Cow.
SO FUNNY!!!.......1998-06-04
You will laugh your socks off!!

Book Description
According to UN research data, by 2030 half of the world's population will be living in slums. Meanwhile, in Durban, residents of Forman and Kennedy Road settlements risk arrest and police violence to protest forced eviction and demand clean drinking water and sanitation. The statistics are not supposed to talk back. This issue of Mute, largely sparked by Mike Davis' claim that in the megaslums Muhammad and the Holy Ghost have superceded Marx, considers another view of the world's burgeoning 'naked cities'. Where the populace are refugees without rights or basic amenities, are new forms of political action emerging? Texts by: Amita Baviskar, Iain Boal, Anna Dezeuze, Michael Edwards, Melanie Gilligan, Anthony Iles, Demetra Kotouza, Penny Koutrolikou, Josaphat Robert Large, Félix Morisseau-Leroy, Kevin Pina, Richard Pithouse, Benedict Seymour and Rachel Weber

great stuff.......2001-07-04
The Tundra comic strip often exhbits the sheer brilliance one normally associates with Gary Larson. I can't beleive that none of the nationally circulated newspapers have picked up on this. I own a few of Chad Carpenter's books and they're all hilarious. I really suggest buying at least one of his books.
A funny, light hearted comic book.......2000-07-21
Although hard to know it even exists, this is a very worth the search. Now that I've read Tundra II i plan on buying Tundra, Tundra III and the triolgy thing. I am a big fan of comic books and have all of the Garfield's, Calvin and Hobbes's, Far Side's, Dilbert's, Zits's, Over the Hedge's and For Better or For Worse's. I am working on finishing my Peanuts collection. All of these comic books are so worth my time and Tundra is a very pleasing addition. A great bathroom book if you ask me and that is mentioned on the back. Yes, definately worth buying.

I can't believe this cartoon isn't published nationwide. The humor has a blend of some of the best of Far Side with a touch of Calvin and Hobbes along with a big helping of originality. For anyone yearning for a good humor fix, this book is it...
