Small Lofts - Big Dreams.......2007-04-05
Good book for dreaming and for ideas to adapt to your home. Since these are small lofts instead of cavernous spaces, you can get some great ideas for small space living, whether in a loft, an apartment or condo, or a small house. A treat for the eyes, too.
Great pictures and ideas.......2007-03-07
I am remodeling my small loft, and this book has photos of many cool ideas. A lot of them are expensive and many more would never pass code in most U.S. cities, but the concepts helped me visualize how different materials, colors, and techniques might look in my space. I wish it had more floor plans and information about costs.

Customer Reviews:
from a "wow that's neat" perspective..........2006-07-16
I picked this book up because loft spaces are very similar to the inside of my home and I'm always interested in decorating ideas and what other people do with their own personal spaces.
I looked through this book over and over again, read all the text, etc.....
If you are the type of person that goes into a shop just to look around, you'll like this book... I thought the photography of all the spaces was awesome. But then again, I'm not a photographer so I'm not too judgemental when it comes to things like that. There are a lot of different styles in the book, although "everything" obviously isn't represented.
With design books and remodeling books being as expensive as a lot of them get this book has a good price and a lot of ideas in it.
A boring, unoriginal and pretentious waste of money........2006-01-18
I like to browse books such as this to find creative decorating ideas. I'm not a huge fan of minimalism but appreciate it when done well. There are key elements of Simplicity and Practicality in minimalist design that appeal to many. However, I often find minimalist design to be pretentious when it lacks these 2 elements. All that is left is starkness and coldness with no grace. Such empty minimalism often seems to be favored by people who think a shocking starkness is somehow intellectual. According to my too long social experience, these people often turn out to be boring pseudo-intellectuals desperately trying to make themselves appear interesting to others. Unfortunately, I found this whole book to be exactly that. I was looking forward to sitting down in a comfortable chair with a fresh cup of tea and enjoying at least some nice artistic photos. I was very disappointed to find no original creativity anywhere in this book. Some of the architectural ideas were nice but not especially attractive or original. At least, nothing jumped out at me, just your humble lover of beauty and creativity but not a trained architect. I keep a personal scrap/ memo book of creative design ideas and I got not even one out of here. I wish I could at least say the majority of the photos were enjoyable to view, but I can't. Many of the subjects were pretentious and vapid; some even crossed over into stupid. For example, there are a couple built-in baths featured that were designed by/for pretentious idiots IMHO. As a Californian who lived in Japan for years and is part Japanese, I have seen and bathed in more than my share of baths and hot tubs of all types, indoor and outdoor. I am sure Bajamon's owners ended up rarely using them. But my favorite subject in this book is a Brussels loft, the second set of photos in Bajamon's visually mundane book. It was the only high point in this book since it was the only loft that got any reaction from me at all, positive or negative. In it, I counted 3 modern art renderings of Mao, one big enough on which to have painted the Battle of Waterloo. The big Mao is in a vivid red. I guess this is to signify communism or possibly rivers of blood. I was intrigued and tried to delve into Mr. Bajamon's reasons for this choice and positioning near the beginning of the book. Was this a sophomoric attempt to make his book appear interesting and intellectual? Or was he trying to make a political statement to us readers by his choice of one of the most efficient mass murderers in history (tens of millions dead through starvation and execution seems efficient to me) as a fashionable interior decorating feature? Well it worked! However, I don't want to be an obvious plagiarist of this decorating device. In my head I reviewed other equivalent subjects from modern history such as Hitler and Stalin. I'm going with Hitler. I have some software that allows me to scan in photos and then alter them into artsy, Warhol-esque pictures a little like the Maoist ones in Bajamon's instructive photos. I think I will hang them in my dining room. Frame them in brown frames to signify the brown shirts. I hope my guests will appreciate the deep intellectual thought behind the choice. I'm sure the whole room's welcoming and fashionable milieu will be good for everyone's digestion. Wonder how many guests the owner of the Brussels loft will re-entertain if he changes his art from Mao to Hitler. Oh, that's right. It's illegal in buy Hitler art in Europe. You book authors, publishers and decorators out there better be sure to pick the right mass murderers for decorative purposes in the right countries at the right times in history. Frankly, it offends me that a publisher decided this book was worth the trees needed to print it. And that applies even if the Maoist fashion statement hadn't been included.

Book Description
Books such as In Memory of Myself and Poste Restante, not to mention a position as head of the eminent Fotoskolan academy in Stockholm, made Christer Stramholm one of Sweden's most influential twentieth-century photographers. He differed from his colleagues in other ways, too--for instance, he didn't mind being the subject of a photograph himself. In fact, he enjoyed it. Stramholm passed away in 2002, but these portraits of him by some of Europe's finest photographers, including Lars Tunbjark, JH Engstram and Anders Petersen, live on.

Book Description
Shortly after lunch on January 8, 2006 I decided to set up a camera on a tripod and take some pictures of myself to see whether I could create an updated headshot of myself and avoid the expense of an appointment with a professional photographer. After a few unsuccessful attempts, my session with the camera took a different direction. I quickly accumulated more than a hundred pictures of myself, not a single one usable for my original purpose. The resulting book has since become an underground new-age self-help sensation. If you read this book carefully, I guarantee that your life will change for the better, or your money back!
Customer Reviews:
It Really Works!!.......2007-07-29
Never before has an Amazon book inspired me to submit a review. I did as the author advised and read this book very carefully. My life immediately changed for the better. To date only underground readers have profited from this book. Now that it is available on Amazon, the lives of bus readers will be enriched. Thank you Frank and Amazon.

Book Description
How do you handle the crippling fear of losing your life after being diagnosed with cancer? What choices do you have when the recommended surgery will disable you for life? Where do you find natural healing remedies when medical authorities dismiss them as quackery?
Through the eyes of Richard J. Manley, cancer survivor, counselor and teacher, A Portrait for Healing answers these questions as Richard shares his experience using natural, non-invasive treatments to cure his cancer.
A Portrait for Healing is an emotional, yet factual, account of Richard's decision not to follow his surgeon's advice to have invasive surgery. Join Richard on his healing journey and learn:
· Holistic healing principles and practices
· How to understand and conquer your fears
· How to take control of your own healing
· The value of integrating spiritual, mental, emotional and physical healing
"(A Portrait for Healing) is a must read for all who are afraid of getting cancer, who have cancer, or who have had cancer.... It is the best resource guide for natural healing remedies I have seen." -- Bob Spears, Heartland Reviews
Customer Reviews:
Gripping!.......2004-05-04
There is a lot of useful information packed into this book for anyone facing cancer and wanting to find what has worked for others. I have used many of the excellent resources the author provides.
I read this book after my own much less perilous search for an alternative solution to cancer to see if the author had been lucky enough to find glyconutrients too. When I got into the book, I did not want to put it down and felt like I was right there beside him at every step. The author shares so candidly that by the end of the book, he begins to feel like a close friend.
Stay healthy, Mr. Manley, so you can write more books.

Book Description
This book contains Paul Davidson's contributions to the major debates of our times. It explains why differing presumptions about the nature of uncertainty leads economists to differing policy prescriptions. Also discussed are the relationships between uncertainty, international financial markets, and global unemployment, producing the most challenging problems for the twenty-first century. Finally difference between Old-, New-, and Post-Keynesians, all vying for Keynes's mantle, are explored.
Customer Reviews:
the greatest economics ever told.......2007-06-04
this book finally explains the economics of the real world and not the fiction world of classical economic theory. Read it and you will finally understand why politicans and mainstream economists manage to mess up the economic world in which we live.
Read it and learn what our economic policies should be to assure everyone has a meaningful job, without creating an inflatinoary bias in the economic system, while simulatenously requding the degree of income inequality.
Great work!
Davidson keeps repeating the same errors again and again.......2004-12-28
Davidson(D)repeats the same mathematical and definitional errors that appear, for instance,in his 1964 book,Aggregate Demand and Supply, that he coauthored with E.Smolensky.The errors that appeared in the 1964 book appeared earlier in books and articles written by Sydney Weintraub, who was Davidson's thesis chairman.Weintraub's analysis repeated the errors that first appeared in a 1955 Economic Journal article written by a self acknowledged mathematical illiterate named Dennis Robertson.Robertson was assisted in his article by Harry Johnson, who wrote a mathematical appendix based on the claim of Robertson that pp.24-30 of Keynes's 1936 book, the General Theory(GT),contained the major analytic core of the GT,as well as Keynes's major theoretical conclusions.Anyone who reads these pages(pp.24-30 of the GT) will quickly discover for himself that they represent an elementary introduction and outline which Keynes himself stated might be "unintelligible" until later chapters were covered. These later chapters are chapters 10,19,20,and 21 of the GT.The first error committed by Robertson-Johnson,and later copied by Weintraub and Davidson, was that the expected aggregate supply function,Z=g(N),was equal to pO,where p equaled the price level measured in wage units(p=p/w) and O equaled real output, which was a function of N,total employment.Anyone who has taken the first semester of calculus and analytic geometry supposedly can integrate(find the anti derivative).Such a person need only turn to pp.55-56,ft.2 of the GT(or pp.282-286)and integrate Keynes's derivatives to see that Z must be equal to P+wN,where P equals expected economic profit,w equals the money wage and N is total employment. In chapter 20,Keynes defines that D,expected aggregate demand,=f(N)=pO(or ,measured in wage units,D/w=(p/w)O)where p is an expected price. The second error made was that D=C+I.Of course,it is a simple matter to turn to chapter 10 of the GT to discover that Y=C+I,where Y measures current or actual aggregate demand. All of the crucial functions,D, Z and Y,were misspecified by Robertson and Johnson.Keynes's important aggregate supply curve,a locus or set of all D=Z intersections, was now conflated with the misspecified Z=pO function.Weintraub copied the errors of Robertson and Johnson and passed them on to Davidson, who then passed these errors on to a host of other economists over a forty year time span.Correctly specified and analyzed,Keynes's D,Z,Y model yields a general theory of employment:w/p=mpl/(mpc+mpi),where mpl=the marginal product of labor, mpc equals the marginal propensity to spend on consumption goods, and mpi equals the marginal propensity to spend on investment goods.Only if mpc+mpi=1 will the classical and neoclassical special case of w/p=mpl be obtained. If mpc+mpi<1,involuntary unemployment automatically occurs since the mpl/(mpc+mpi)ratio increases which requires that the money wage w increase so as to maintain the equality. It is impossible for labor as a whole to cut their money wage.Keynes's general theory is easily extended to include government, export, and import sectors.Letting mpg equal the marginal propensity to spend on public goods, mpe the marginal propensity to spend on exports, and mpm the marginal propensity to spend on imports.one obtains the following:w/p=mpl/(mpc+mpi+mpg+mpe-mpm).Incorporating imperfect competition is simply done by multipling each side by the appropriate demand or supply elasticity. It is now straight forward to give Keynes's general theory:mpc+mpi<=1.If mpc+mpi =1,then neoclassical theory becomes operational.Otherwise,it is not operational.Period.
