Book Description
Many years of cumulative research has been conducted on the usage of fiber-reinforced composites for biomedical application, but no one source exists where this topic is dealt with systematically. This book addresses polymer composites applied to bioengineering in a comprehensive manner.
For potential applications to be successful, full advantage must be taken of the materials properties and the manufacturing techniques to meet the needs of biomedical application. This book focuses on fiber-based composites applied to bioengineering. It addresses three main areas. First, it presents a comprehensive survey of biocomposites from the existing literature in various medical applications, paying particular attention to hard-tissue-related implants. Second, mechanical designs and manufacturing aspects of various fibrous polymer matrix composites are described. The third area concerns examples of the design and development of several medical devices and implants using polymer composites.

Book Description
Successful characterization of polymer systems is one of the most important objectives of today's experimental research of polymers. Considering the tremendous scientific, technological, and economic importance of polymeric materials, not only for today's applications but for the industry of the 21st century, it is impossible to overestimate the usefulness of experimental techniques in this field. Since the chemical, pharmaceutical, medical, and agricultural industries, as well as many others, depend on this progress to an enormous degree, it is critical to be as efficient, precise, and cost-effective in our empirical understanding of the performance of polymer systems as possible. This presupposes our proficiency with, and understanding of, the most widely used experimental methods and techniques.
This book is designed to fulfill the requirements of scientists and engineers who wish to be able to carry out experimental research in polymers using modern methods. Each chapter describes the principle of the respective method, as well as the detailed procedures of experiments with examples of actual applications. Thus, readers will be able to apply the concepts as described in the book to their own experiments.
* Addresses the most important practical techniques for experimental research in the growing field of polymer science
* The first well-documented presentation of the experimental methods in one consolidated source
* Covers principles, practical techniques, and actual examples
* Can be used as a handbook or lab manual for both students and researchers
* Presents ideas and methods from an international perspective
*Techniques addressed in this volume include:
*subbul:* Light Scattering
* Neutron Scattering and X-Ray Scattering
* Fluorescence Spectroscopy
* NMR on Polymers
* Rheology
* Gel Experiments

* Takes account of the latest information emerging from biophysical projects
* Reports on novel therapeutic strategies
* Presents an advanced-level overview of mechanisms that regulate a variety of processes in organisms ranging from bacterial to whales
Customer Reviews:
Biology in Physics.......2000-08-01
Bogdanov has written about biological processes from the viewpoint of a physicist. The ten chapters may be read in any order to obtain an intelligent introduction or review for any of the topics, which deal with the electrical nature of life, the functioning of muscles, respiration, circulation, and so on... The presentations are clear, light-hearted, even funny on occasion -- a great and unusual accomplishment for a science text that does not talk down to its readers. The book is well illustrated and clearly written, although the text occasionally becomes a bit convoluted. This may be the result of its translation from Russian. The author provided a very thorough and up-to-date set of references for skeptics as well as for those who wish to dig deeper.

Good Book.......2004-10-10
T. S. Wing "bookworm" (Down Under) Reads a lot of books on Douglas Haig.Seems he/she hates everyone British.
The common curse of mankind, - folly and ignorance.
Expensive rubbish.......2004-09-13
This is probably, next to Terraine's biography, the worst revisionist nonsense on that incompetent, Douglas Haig. In it, Haig's idiotic human wave assaults are said to be the only sensible tactics, his staying miles behind the front as the only sensible way to conduct war, and his intrigues as fot the greater good.
Pure, unadulterated crap.

Book Description
The Abomination of Desolation in the Gospel of Mark argues that the appearance of the Abomination of Desolation is the trigger launching the end time for Mark's community which resulted in the construction of the gospel and set in motion the imminent coming of the Son of Man. The author clarifies the claim that the event lying behind this phrase is the destruction of the Jerusalem temple by the Roman commander Titus in 70 C.E. The main point of the book establishes in an unprecedented manner that verse 14, along with verse 26 constitutes the dual focus of Mark 13, and that Titus is the historical referent in verse 14, based on the last twenty-five years of Markan research. This conclusion arises from the demonstration that the possibility of flight in Judaea after September 70 C.E. exists, and provided a rationale for Mark's expectations of that period. The author points out that Mark connected Titus' act with Jerusalem's destruction and Jesus' execution in the same place, by the same political power, and endowed with theological significance. Therefore, a model of the past based on an event in Jerusalem provides an efficacious parallel for Mark's eschatology.

Book Description
Rev. Martin's original plan was to preach through the Gospel of Matthew word by word, verse by verse; and to do so from a new, fresh translation from the original language. Preaching through the Gospel, with all of its references to other books of the Bible, and in its own history, is an ideal way for a preacher to give his people a thorough understanding of the inspired Scripture. It wasn't long before the idea of a huge sermonic commentary came up. And then came the idea of some interim books. This book is the fourth (and maybe the last) in the "interim" series. What will eventually come to pass, Lord willing, is a 3500 page commentary, with a new translation of the text, of the Gospel of Matthew. It will be published in (probably) six volumes. In the meantime this book, Abomination of Desolation, is published as a stand-alone book. The three previous ones are: The Beatitudes and the Lord's Prayer, The Sermon On the Mount, and Jesus On Divorce. Abomination of Desolation is a thorough exegesis of chapters twenty-four and twenty-five of the Gospel of Matthew. It explicitly follows the text of what Jesus Christ told His disciples while on the Mount of Olives before His crucifixion.
