This book is great for architecture students. I ordered this book not expecting too much of it, but it's really great. It has a lot of photos and detailed drawings. It's also a hard cover book. It's been very useful.

A comprehensive guide for lighting design.......2000-09-14
I am an interior designer who designs solely commercial spaces. The world of lighting has always been fascinating to me, and since I received only a basic education on the subject, I need a little help once in a while understanding how it works. This book is the best I've seen on lighting design. It has color photos of lighting in action, then includes details illustrating how each fixture was constructed and what materials were used. I have adapted and revised several of these details for use in my own projects. The book has really helped me to become more knowledgeable about lighting and its impact.

This book is an excellent resource for those in the design business. Great details and sketches give information on how designs and special features of very famous places were achieved. This book has great visuals of all those extras that make each space unique. A must see!

The report is comprehensive, somewhat technical, but limited to one country. The data used is about 10 years old, which is old in the fast moving micro-finance sector.

The revolution occurring in finance for low-income people refers to commercial microfinance—the delivery of financial services to the economically active poor on a large scale through competing, financially self-sufficient institutions.
Lessons from Indonesia, volume 2 of The Microfinance Revolution, examines in the Indonesian context the principles and practices of commercial microfinance that were explored and analyzed in volume 1.
The first country to develop profitable microfinance on a large scale, Indonesia is home to the world's oldest and largest commercial microfinance institutions, as well as many others.
The book examines many financial institutions, with a special emphasis on Bank Rakyat Indonesia's microbanking system, which in the mid-1980s was transformed from a failed subsidized credit program to a nationwide commercial financial intermediary that now profitably provides microfinance services—savings and credit—to more than 20 million people. Commercial microbanking remained stable and profitable in Indonesia even as the country's financial system collapsed during the recent crisis. This volume shows why, and offers crucial lessons for developing countries everywhere.

The last twenty years have seen a transformation in the availability and use of credit among the less prosperous - though perhaps not the least prosperous - strata of Southeast Asian societies. Historically Southeast Asia was seen as afflicted by a complex of debt-related problems: high levels of indebtedness; lack of savings; general scarcity of cash; high interest rates; widespread debt-bondage due to the great demand for credit and the high interest rates; and a need for advance payments in order to initiate commercial transactions. Colonial and early post-colonial governments had only limited success in displacing private moneylenders and other informal credit providers. In the 20
th century, the formal financial sector began to reach small borrowers on an unprecedented scale. In the international league table of microfinance penetration rates, as measured by the number of borrowing clients as a percentage of the total population, four of the top six countries in the world are located in Southeast Asia. Today credit is available to ordinary Southeast Asians at lower cost than ever before, and at the same time bank accounts are fast replacing gold, livestock and gift-exchange as forms of saving even in remote areas.
This book, written by experts in relevant fields, deals with the modern or formal part of the microfinance sector. Contributions also look at informal moneylending, rotating savings and credit associations (ROSCAs), cooperatives, pawnshops, shopkeeper credit, advance crop payments from traders before the harvest, and other traditional types of lending.
Of interest to an interdisciplinary readership, this book presents an analysis of microfinance-related issues in a variety of Southeast Asian settings.
