I loved it!! and i am not a big reader, but let me tell you...he can keep you page turning throughout the whole book!!!I wish he would write more books like this(not into thrillers)

Easily the worst book I've ever read.......2007-07-18

This is my first Amazon review, but I'm compelled to write it. If I can save just one person from reading this dreck, it will be worth the effort of writing this review.

I'd never read a James Patterson novel before and therefore went in with no preconceived notions. I assumed I'd like this book, as it came recommended by someone whose literary judgment I trusted (a mistake I won't repeat). Ack - the writing! Terrible, truly infantile writing. In all seriousness, a mediocre high school student could do better. At least the book was loaned to me rather than purchased. I'm astounded that not only has Patterson been able to make a living writing, he's in fact become fabulously wealthy. It's a pretty sad commentary on how little we expect from authors.

It's been some time since I read this book, but I don't know if I'll ever erase from my brain an execrable passage that went something like, "She gripped the carousel horse with her thighs as it went not just up and down, but also around and around." Blech. And there are plenty more where that came from. References to pop culture sprinkled throughout were likely meant to seem hip but instead came off cheesy and made the author appear desperate to sound relevant and cool. I felt like I lost precious brain cells in the few hours it took to read this.

I have no objection to fluffy books, though I don't make a steady diet of them. However, I do demand good writing. If you value your time even a little, do yourself a favor and take a pass on this book.

Great read!.......2007-06-18

I really, really enjoyed this book. It was very emotional, in fact, I don't think I've cried so hard reading a book or watching a film. I was literally sobbing by the end.

I felt I knew most of the characters in this book by the end, proving Patterson is a wonderful writer. I connected to Suzanne and Matt and their love for each other and for their son.

I didn't quite seem to know what to think of Katie. I didn't feel like I knew enough about her to feel bad for her when she got dumped by Matt. I was constantly comparing her (Matt's girlfriend) to Suzanne (Matt's wife) and sometimes it was difficult to really feel bad for Katie, dispite the constant interjections about her life and her feelings in the story. I guess I was a little upset the she though Matt was cheating on his wife with her. She knew he had a wife and she still got with him.

In the end I guess Katie was redeemed, however I still felt uneasy with her. The story makes you learn to love Matt, but Katie is a different story, I guess that's why I only gave it four stars!

This book is emotional and really expresses the love of most of the characters. It's a quick read so there's no reason not to read it! :)

James Patterson in a change of genres, has written the most wonderful book. I've meant to leave a comment on this book for years!

I took this on vacation with me and meant to read a little bit a day while on the beach. Instead I started it one evening after dinner. I didn't stop until I was finished. If you want a good tear-jerker, this is the book for you. I don't think I've ever cried as much over a book in my life. The ending felt like someone close to me had died.

I won't go over the synopsis again. It's been done over and over above. I just wanted to say that this is a wonderful, marvelous book that I couldn't put down!

beautiful love story.......2007-05-19

This book is filled with the true meaning of love. It is so enjoyable and brings to my eyes both the first time I read it and now. I can't say enough about the author's writing ability, no matter what his stories are. My husband and I enjoy all his books, but Suzanne's diary...was truly my favorite.

Depressing Story!.......2005-05-26

I figured anything written by James Patterson has suspense and edge-of-your seat entertainment. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting when I picked up a copy of SUZANNE'S DIARY TO NICHOLAS, but it was definitely not this! There was no suspense at all in this book, and at times it was just a weepy attempt to draw out the reader's emotions.

Katie Wilkinson is a book editor who is experiencing heartbreak. Matt, her boyfriend leaves her without any indication that things weren't wonderful between them. But he does leave her a gift, hoping it will explain his quick departure. The present is Suzanne (his first wife's) diary that she kept for their son, Nicholas. At first angry, Katie doesn't understand why Matt wants her to read this very personal recount of his first love's life. But she begins to read hoping to find something in there to make her understand.

Although it's difficult for Katie to read Suzanne's words of love, she continues to read. She learns that Suzanne had a heart attack at a young age that caused lifestyle changes. Through these changes, she meets Matt, a neighbor in Martha's Vineyard where Suzanne moves to reduce stress. Katie reads about Suzanne's love for Matt, their excitement over her pregnancy, and their devotion to Nicholas.

While reading I felt like a voyeur, like I was reading Suzanne's diary along with Katie and it was something so full of emotions that it should have remained private. The bouncing back and forth from first person to third person narrative by Patterson was not an easy transition at times and was confusing.

Although the character development was extremely well done, I didn't like SUZANNE'S DIARY TO NICHOLAS. To me, the plot was an attempt to pull the heartstrings and force the reader to feel emotion. Instead of feeling empathy for all people involved in this story, I felt depressed. If I had known that this book would have been so much of a downer, I would never have read it.

However, with that said, I do have to say that the ending did surprise me. It was definitely a twist that I didn't see coming. I wouldn't recommend this unless you are in the mood to cry!

Suzanne starts a diary for her baby. She tells him about meeting his father and her life in general. The diary falls into the hands of a another female who is in love with a girfted writer. Who is Suzannes? she wonders. She discovers Suzanne is married to the man she is in love with. Buts whats the story? whats in the end? Grab a box of tissue when you read this its a definate tear jerker!

I got this book from my sister who knows I like to read James Patterson. I started reading it, and it got really good. James Patterson knows how to capture a reader, and knows how to tug at the heart. I've read some of his mysteries, and I now know that he can write romance as well. Keep up the good work!!

Love, mystery and a story that will warm your heart. "Suzanne's diary for Nicholas" is one of the best romance stories I have ever read. This is truly a different turn for James Patterson, from his usually action mytery stories such as "Kiss the girls" to a story of love and lost. I would suggest this book to all who aren't afraid to feel and cry. For this story will capture your heart and many others as well.

A great books for teens........2003-01-15

If you like love and trust, but you also love treachery, then this is the book for you. In the beginning you understand how the character's lives are and what they're going through. Also understanding when your married and just finding out from a little diary that your husband was already married with a wife named Suzanne and a child named Nicholas. After you get done with the first part of the book, one day Suzanne tells her husband she's going to the store and was taking Nicholas. Then a few hours passes but they never come home. You have to read this book to find out what happened to them.

This book was so awesome. I am not a fan of mystery, but i decided to give the author a try. I could not put the book down. I luved how it switched from Katie to Suzanne. It was so beautifully written, it makes you want to laugh and cry. This is wonderful and a perfect high school level or older. It's worth buying! I wish there was a sequal because this was fantastic!

I am not a big reader as I never seem to have the time, until my mother gave me Suzanne's Dairy for Nicholas as a Birthday present, and what a present it was.. I picked it up and read it in 4 days which is a record for me as it normally takes weeks for me to read a book... I can't imagine anyone not loving this book, and indeed you'll need the tissues..... Do something nice for someone you love and go buy them a copy of this book and pay special attention to how you juggle the five balls in your life :-)
