Nate the Great and the sticky case.......2003-05-28
It was an incredible easyreading book.Nate the Great is called by his friend to find a missing stamp from his stamp collection.Onthe way he finds some wet clues and finds the stamp in a wacky spot. What I liked about the chapter was that Nate's dog gives him the last clue to solve the mystery. What I didn't like about the story was that the mystery was absolutly dreadful.
Sticky Clues.......2000-02-01
Claude asks Nate to help him to find the missing stamp from his collection. He used some sticky clues along the way. This was an exciting story because Nate found the stamp in a very surprising place!
Fun to Read! Easy to Start With!.......1999-04-15
Nate the Great is a Great Detective! This book kept us interested! We liked when the dog had the shoe with the stamp on it! The Dog's name is Fang. We liked that the dogs were characters in the book. We recommend this book to other people!

Dinosaurs in the Bible!.......2007-09-05
I love that I can read a book about Dinosaurs to my children and not have to edit out the parts the evolutionists have manipulated into so many dinosaur books. This is a wonderful book for Bible believing families with children who like dinosaurs!
A miraculous book! I can't praise it enough!.......2007-08-12
This book is an excellent choice for parents who want to teach their kids that marketing material written by late bronze-age shepherds is the fundamental basis for a science textbook, in fact, for ALL science textbooks. Those kids will be well-prepared for careers in the competitive world of 4th century technology. Should those kids go on to an AP Biology course or, shudder, college, they will have to un-learn the entire contents of this little tome, but no mind: they will understand that their faith rests on contradicting the work of thousands of real scientists over the last hundred years. If the material in this book were correct, the author would be in line for a Nobel prize. Too bad. It is not only grossly misunderstood and misrepresented science, it is also lame theology. This book will appeal to a fraction of poorly-educated literalists who want their kids to follow in their footsteps; enlightened Christians, Catholics who accept evolution, and members of other denominations will want to look elsewhere for explanations of why the dinosaurs are no longer traipsing through the Garden.
A book that challenges .......2007-04-18
Even though I am a Christian, I was afraid that this book would be very right winged to the point that it would make far fetched claims. However, I am very happy to say that that is just not the case.
If you are looking for a book that QUESTIONS as well as CHALLENGES the claim to "know it all, fact-finding scientific theory of our day", than this is it. Finally, a book that presents the process of HOW modern day scientists come to their conclusions, as well as showing HOW mistakes in the evidence can be easily made. One example in the book is how the author describes digging up bones is like trying to put together a massive jigsaw puzzle and how the bones of one skeleton can be mixed in with the others. Or even worse, finding a skull of a skeleton 3 or 4 miles away from the skeleton they are trying to complete! Even when more than one set of skeletal remains are close to one another, it's obvious that the smartest and most skillful person can make a mistake and claim the bones belong with the wrong set. Why don't they mention these kinds of mistakes in classroom textbooks?
Unfortunately, we live in a time where evolution is taught as TRUTH instead of THEORY and IDEAS and we are warping young minds by not presenting the WHOLE truth by stating that evolution is a THEORY as well as explaining how difficult a task it is for those digging up the bones and how they don't always get it right.
This book is very much down to earth and is not making false claims. Another thing I like about the book is how it mentions that the dinosaurs are God's creation. It is geared more for ages 12 and below.
If you are looking for a book that challenges the evolutionist theory and encourages children to think for themselves instead of believe everything they are told, then this is the book. However, if you are looking for a book that tries to get kids not to think on their own, and believe everything they are told, then look for a classroom textbook on evolution. By the way, evolution IS a a belief system. We all have to believe in something, the question is "What?".
EXCELLENT KID FRIENDLY RESOURCE.......2006-08-31
I have used this book with many children and it is fun to read. Even though it's written for children, there is enough "meat" in it to give parents some food for thought. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Science fiction start to finish........2006-07-16
This book presents as fact that humans and dinosaurs lived on the earth at the same time, that g-d placed all animals on the earth at the same time, and that scientist are all a bunch of crackpots trying to defame Christianity.
If you want to believe that the earth doesn't rotate 1 Chronicles 16:30 or that bats are birds Leviticus 11:19, please go right ahead and use the Bible as a science textbook. There is no need to produce evidence that scientist are wrong when you have faith.
Book Description
A rarely seen look at answering the questions associated with these "terrible lizards" from a creationist perspective.
Internationally known author and speaker Ken Ham brings a "new way of thinking" to the table for Christians, emphasizing that in order to properly understand our world we must first look at Scripture. By going to the Bible first for answers, we begin to understand that the dinosaurs were alongside man from the beginning.
Complete with stunning, computer-generated illustrations of dinosaurs, this book promises to be a mainstay of any family library.

To all the reviews here that resort to "name-calling" and "Christian-bashing", instead of addressing specific points made in the book: Me thinks thou doest protest too much!
Silly.......2006-02-14
Geez I am so glad this non-scientist put it all together for us. Funny that he figured it out when all of those scientist who have been respected and hard-working professionals in the field for life (with a PhD) have just made a mess or it, or worse, been sneaky and misleading the public.
Folks, evolutionary biologists are not conspiring against free thinking or religion, or leaving out testable options. Rather, if a scientist could come up with a non-conventional view and get it published in a peer-reviewed journal, they wouldn't be ostracized---rather, they'd be offered tenure at Harvard.
Christians should be outraged by this crap. Makes religious people seem like silly want-to-know-nothings that put their fingers in their ears and say la-la-la whenever facts and science are discussed. This way of denial and construction of embarrasing fantasy doesn't have to be the only option for the religious-minded.
Ken Ham puts out the truth, whether you want it or not........2005-12-25
"the close-minded, vain beliefs that most Christians harbor. anti-intellectual"
Who is the one with a closed mind? sounds obvious to me.
Give us students the freedom of choice, I don't want one idea forced on me. be it evolution or creation, the danger is having only one idea. What the Catholic church at one time abused perverting christianity for its own powers and control, this is now being done by evolution and those closed minded thinking by forcing one theory. there are only 2 options, the earth created itself, or someone created it. give me my freedom of choice. Thank you.

Highly Rocommended -- Educational, Entertaining & Refreshing: A Fantastic Book!!.......2007-08-31
Across Time: Mystery of the Great Sphinx by author O.J. Harp III is a refreshing surprise. It tells the daunting tale of a group of people who bravely travel back and forth through time in an effort to discover their true identities, correct some mistakes of the past and reinforce some timeless principles into their present existence.
Dr. John Steel, a Clinical Psychologist and recent Ph.D. graduate is happy with his present life. He still, however, has no memory of his childhood since he, as a pre-teen, mysteriously found himself by the Potomac River with nothing and no one to validate his existence. Deep down inside he knows that something is very different about him - a difference that goes way beyond just his childhood.
As the story unfolds, Dr. Steele slowly unlocks the keys to his past, unveiling a destiny unlike anything he could have ever imagined. Other main characters include Mutshat Ma'at, a police cadet and the long-lost love of Dr. Steele, Dr. Christopher Jones - a minister and philanthropist (with a past of his own) and students Eddie Richardson and Victor Carter, of the I Have a Dream Charter School.
Unbeknownst to this special group of people, they will all soon be caught up in a battle stemming from their past lives as Nubian warriors and Kemetic royalty from Ancient Egypt who are being pursued by an ancient tribe, the Anu and an evil, legendary Pharaoh who is seeking world domination for all ages to come. The help of some psychic practitioners, human geneticists and super-intelligent robots are enlisted along the way as these valiant trailblazers transcend the barriers of space and time, defying even the laws of gravity. When all is said and done, lost identities are discovered, true love is found, lessons of justice, morality and truth are learned and, best of all, good triumphs over evil.
This book is a great read and is by no means for the faint of heart. A lot of historical, scientific and even paranormal information is covered in this novel, and I found the supplementary sections, i.e., the fact, prologue and glossary sections of great and necessary value.
It can be enjoyed by all readers, regardless of age. Some parts cater to a younger audience, making it relatable in today's language while at the same time fostering a desire to learn more about history including prehistoric times, Egyptology and slavery.
For the more mature audience, it offers a different, more spontaneous reading experience. It speaks to the adult mindset through themes of romance, the discussion of art and travel and by dealing with sociopolitical and religious subjects such as cloning and reincarnation. I personally identified with the emphasis placed on the beauty, power and mystery of the Black race.
What I expected to be a dull, long and drawn-out history lesson actually turned out to be a virtual adventure. The author combined history, science and psychology and then cleverly blended in the imaginative elements of time travel, magic, wizardry and extreme science fiction in order to create this whirlwind tale of past, present and future ideas. A roller-coaster ride full of twists, turns, loops and tunnels, this novel goes beyond entertaining with enough substance to satisfy even the most ambitious thrill-seeker.
Across Time: Mystery of the Great Sphinx would be a great addition to the list of required reading for high schools and colleges across the nation. I recommend it highly and give it 5 stars.

As Went the Dinosaurs, So May We.......2002-07-27
Usually, whenever a mass-market science book is published, unless the author's name is Stephen Hawking, both its sales and impact are quite modest. Sometimes, however, the external world intrudes onto the public's consciousness and the topic of that text may become unexpectedly hot and salesworthy. I predict such an uplifting fate for THE GREAT EXTINCTION by Michael Allaby and James Lovelock, and the reason is February 1, 2019. That is the date that astronomers have recently predicted that there is a modest probability that an asteroid may slam into the earth, causing catastrophic climatic results.
It is generally accepted that the very long reign of the dinosaurs came to a crashing end some 65 million years ago when a six mile diameter asteroid collided with the earth off the southern coast of Florida. Allaby and Lovelock discuss the geological evidence for this calamity. They note the primary evidence is the world wide existence of a layer of iridium, an element that is not particularly abundant here but is common on asteroids. They describe the first moment of the impact: 'The sea blew up. Transformed into incandescent gas, the ocean leaped upward with a roar that would have been heard on the other side of the world.' They call this moment 'The Barrel of Fire.' This name is appropriate since the resultant release of energy would have equalled 5 billion Nagasaki-sized nuclear blasts. The destruction world wide had both short term and long term effects. For the short term: fire, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions. For the long term: nuclear winter, decades long darkness, complete destruction of most of the world's eco-systems. The proud dinosaurs, which had ruled non-stop for tens of millions of years, died out overnight. The tiny burrowing mammals that survived were the default new rulers, and from them evolved humanity. THE GREAT EXTINCTION is a must read for anyone who wants to know what could happen to humanity if by 2019 we have not yet learned how to delay, destroy, or deflect the oncoming cosmic rock. The mute fossilized evidence of the remains of the magnificent beasts that used to tread this planet ought to spur us on to meet this latest challenge to our briefest of reigns as lords of the earth.

The subject of this conference was the study of those nuclei at the limit of nuclear stability where the exotic decay mode of proton emission are energetically possible, allowing one to study nuclear structure and masses at the limit of nuclear stability. Topics covered in the proceedings include: experimental direct proton radioactivity measurements, spectroscopic factors and orbital mixing, beta-delayed proton emission, novel experimental techniques and new directions.
Book Description
Just in time, Dave Barry supplies the wholly original, much needed history and guide to the new American politics and its three capitals, Washington, D.C., Austin, and South Florida. No surprise: it's hilarious.
Understanding the urgent need for a deeply thoughtful balanced book to explain our national political process, Dave Barry has not even come close. Though he himself has covered many campaigns, run for President several times, and run for cover at the rainy inauguration of George W. Bush (the man will spare nothing for his art) Barry has instead outdone himself.
Below the Beltway includes Barry's stirring account of how the United States was born, including his version of a properly rewritten Declaration (When in the course of human events it behooves us, the people, not to ask "What can our country do for us, anyway?" but rather whether we have anything to fear except fear itself...) and a revised Constitution (Section II: The House of Representatives shall be composed of people who own at least two dark suits and have not been indicted recently.).
Dave also cracks the income tax code, explains the growth(s) of government, congressional hearing difficulties, and the persistent rumors of the influence of capital in the Capitol. Among other civic contributions, his tour of Washington, D.C., should end school class trips forever.
From the Hardcover edition.
Customer Reviews:
Hilarious as always.......2007-05-15
If you love Dave Barry, you'll love this book; very, very funny look at America's political system and how it really works, or in most cases, doesn't. If you're a Dave Barry fan but not into politics don't worry, Dave can make anything funny!
Listening to the CD makes the experience twice as humorous........2006-10-20
Dave Barry Hits Below the Beltway is funny for the Washington-themed humor. Add to this a section on the history of our government, a pinch of South Florida politics, and add the great, great narration, and you will laugh, laugh, laugh.
As Dave Barry states, if he wanted this to be a real good book on Washington politics, he'd have to spend a lot of time in Washington. So this is not going to be a really good book!
The jabs at the US Department of Agriculture (not sure whether it should be permitted to call dried plums "dried plums"), the driving habits of older Floridians, and the Clintonian escapades are all fair game to Barry. And wait till you hear the attorney arguments in the 2000 elections!
Read it and weep... from laughter!
One of Dave's best, and that's saying a lot........2006-04-09
Not as funny as his "Book of Bad Songs" -- nothing could top that. Not quite as funny as "Dave Barry Turns 40", but about on a par with "Dave Barry is Not Making This Up". Definitely a book that you won't want to miss, if you enjoy Dave's irreverent style (and who doesn't?).
Nothing deserves to be made fun of more than U.S. government..........2005-12-29
Dave Barry once admitted to being a libertarian in an interview for "Reason" magazine, and nowhere more than "Below The Beltway" does his libertarian cynicism shine through. The commentary is just plain brilliant, besides being side-splittingly funny. Not a single D.C. institution escapes Barry's razor --Democrat or Republican, Congress, the President, the Supreme Court, or any one of the thousands of alphabet soup agencies that nobody voted for; all are deservedly skewered with just the right blend of satire, cynicism, outright nonsense and --most distubing of all-- actual quotes and references from real Federal agency "mission statements." Barry even openly admits that most of his material is made up on the spot --he even steers us to P. J. O'Rourke's "Parliament of Whores" for anyone who wants an even mix of humour AND verifiable fact-- but every so often he'll get to a part that He Swears He Is Not Making Up. And that's when the reader really starts to see government for the out-of-control, self-aggrandizing, eternally-consuming beast that it really is. I note with some amusement that some Amazon.com reviewers are taking Mr. Barry to task for his unrelenting attack on the silliness that is the Federal government, and it is those reviews that I can only conclude are either written by big-government apologists or actual Federal employees. As Barry himself says, only in Washington, D.C. is the phrase "Federal Worker" not considered funny. This book makes the WHY all the more obvious. Bravo, Mr. Barry, and keep making fun of the government for as long as there's juice in your word processor (or until Homeland Security forcibly shuts you down, whichever comes first). I have no doubt the self-important denizens of the nation's capital will continue to provide you with a never-ending supply of fresh material.
Slapstick in Modern Language........2005-10-03
The cover shows an irreverent funny man, and this book is written for macho men as he takes on any and everyone in the federal government from the president on down. It must be his New York years to make him look down on the important people who run the government in Washington, D.C. What he is forgetting is that the states elect those people and send them there -- at least, some of them.
One truthful thing, which other columnists and nonfiction writers won't admit: "I sat around and made the stuff up." His chart explaining how Social Security works is informative, and just might be true -- truer than he thinks. He hates old people, thinks they're more interested in having sex than those able to produce a baby! Has he looked around and seen all that skin young people expose now in today's way of dressing?
"To compensate for the lack of facts, I have included ... snide remarks." So true. Making fun of the words which came out of JFK's mouth into a parody "in the course of human events (that's Lyndon's thinking) it behooves us, the people, not to ask 'What can our country do for us. anyway?' but rather, whether we have anything to fear except fear itself" (FDR) -- the original phrase which moved the Sixties Americans came from a smart speechwriter.
It wouldn't hurt the privileged of today to consider what they can do for this country. Dave Barry does his best to keep people laughing. Being too serious about serious matter we can't do anything about only causes you to feel bad. Who wants that?
He should take on district, regional, etc. government offices, especially GSA, the glorified housekeeping department of the U. S. Govt. I've tangled with two in Tennessee who are tough old soldiers (one even had military training as a "Ranger" and now he spends his days worrying about how to get rid of pigeons). The other, his superior, in Nashville takes off to Louisiana, Florida, Mississippi (who really knows) to be deployed while leaving his Nashville office unattended. These are old men living off the government worse than welfare people.
"Hitting below the belt" doesn't mean his crude, bathroom humor and words; it's what the Baptist preacher did when he attacked the Methodist ritual of sprinkling -- then says that only Baptists will get into Heaven. Seems I heard some other group say that in the past. I wonder if even Dave would go there.
