Book Description
This is the first book to provide an in-depth presentation of photosensitive polyimides for electronic and photonic applications. The authors are leading specialists in this field from Japan, Europe and the U.S. From the Preface Aromatic polyimides were developed originally as thermostable flexible polymer films for space applications. Now polyimides have found widespread use in the manufacture of electronic devices and have been employed in increasingly diverse areas of electronics and information technology. In addition to their excellent thermal stability and high processability, a wide range of chemical and physical properties provided by molecular engineering makes polyimides highly versatile in the electronics and information industries. Lithography of polyimides is an inevitable process in using polyimides for microelectronic fields, and hence increasing research has been devoted to developing photosensitive polyimides, which make it unnecessary to use photoresists for patterning polyimides and diminishing markedly the number of steps in fabrication of various electronic devices. In addition, the development of technology of photosensitive polyimides is expected to play a great role in manufacturing photonic devices in the near future, when the design and control of hyper fine structures . . . including higher thermal stability and better processability would be essential.

Broadband Dielectric Spectroscopy
ASIN: 0841233357 |
Book Description
Beginning with a complete discussion of the fundamentals of dielectric spectroscopy, this book examines in detail the methods used in data modeling and in such specialized techniques as high-frequency dielectric measurements and thermally stimulated currents. The book covers applications in a range of polymeric systems including solutions, blends, and liquid crystals.
Product Description
Fundamentals of Press Brake Tooling provides insights into properly designing parts that can be formed using a press brake, and it will give the reader a basic understanding of what must be considered in selecting proper tooling, determining minimum machine requirements, using blank size calculations, and arriving at an acceptable bend sequence. Also included is a great deal of diverse information that will save time and money, and allow parts to be produced to a quality acceptable to the final user.
Customer Reviews:
Great reference for press brake operators.......2007-01-16
This book is the perfect combination of theory and real life applications for press brake operators. The engineering is well explained; not too simple, yet not above an operators head. Any operator who reads this book will become a press brake expert. Highly recommended for designers, engineers, and operators.
Good balance between technical and practical info.......2006-07-10
I can't speak to the needs of industrial users, but for the small fabrication shop operator this book is an excellent resource. The writing is a good balance between technical info and practical, plain english descriptions of press brake tooling design and use.
The first chapter is an overview of press brakes. That wasn't particularly useful to me. The rest of the book, however, is full of practical information. The design of dies is covered, along with considerations for forming different types of metals, and the causes/solutions for problems encountered while using a press brake.
This book contains all the info I neded to design my own press brake attachment for my shop press, along with designing and using dies for various forming operations.
Book Description
Revised due to new developments in the polymer area. This book contains a broad, unified introduction to the subject matter that will be of immediate practical value plus a foundation for more advanced study. New features include a discussion of liquid-crystal polymers, the Flory-Huggins theory, group-transfer polymerization, a quantitative treatment of Ziegler-Natta polymerization with three new worked-out examples and much more. Also, end-of-chapter problems have been added along with practical illustrations of the material.
Customer Reviews:
Great Book for Starting Out.......2000-07-26
This is an excellent book for the novice--concepts are introduced at a leisurely pace and considerable time is taken to develop them. The tone is slightly casual, and the book as a whole is entirely unintimidating and accessible. Advanced concepts are absent (hence the "funadmental" in the title) so if you're looking to advance your knowledge to the next level, you'd be better off looking elsewhere. This is, however, one of the only textbooks I've owned that I've been able to read large portions of in a single sitting; I don't want to say it's like reading a novel, but it is as close as you're going to get with a textbook on rheology.
Customer Reviews:
Fair book.......2003-04-09
This book is fair and easy to understand and practice. Generally, it is OK

Materials Science of Polymers for Engineers
ASIN: 1569902623 |
Customer Reviews:
Good textbook for undergraduate students.......2006-04-28
This book is a good textbook for undergraduate and practicing engineers who are not so familiar with polymer processing, as it is written in plain English and easy too read. The volume is compact.
Introductions of more advanced topics are also given, and differentiated by shading. This is a good idea. If you were interested in more advanced topics, then you could learn from literatures cited.

Book Description
Columbia University, 1968. Ann Drayton and Georgette George meet as roommates on the first night. Ann is rich and radical; Georgette, the narrator of The Last of Her Kind, is leery and introverted, a child of the very poverty and strife her new friend finds so noble. The two are drawn together intensely by their differences; two years later, after a violent fight, they part ways. When, in 1976, Ann is convicted of killing a New York cop, Georgette comes back to their shared history in search of an explanation. She finds a riddle of a life, shaped by influences more sinister and complex than any of the writ-large sixties movements. She realizes, too, how much their early encounter has determined her own path, and why, after all this time, as she tells us, I have never stopped thinking about her.
Customer Reviews:
Magnificent.......2007-07-14
The best novel I've read in 2007. Style, story, depth, character development, texture, humor and voice, all just great. I recommend this book for anyone who has lived those times or wants to get a personal feel what the 60's/70's were all about. Ms. Nunez has the gift of making the reader feel like it's just you and her in the room, and nothing else matters. I finished it in two days and immediately loaned it out to my circle.
What a great book.......2007-07-10
I loved it, very well written and honest. A gripping insight into the political turmoil of the late 60's. I couldn't put it down.
richly rewarding.......2007-06-21
I, too, considered the book a tad bit "tedious" at its outset. "Why am I reading this book when I could be reading others?" But something had me hooked. I am interested in the 60s, and I was very interested in the author's treatment of the effect of the sexual revolution on women; I myself felt part of that story (though I grew up in the 70s, not the 60s). I certainly did not mind the sometimes-"cipher"-like quality of the narrator: many Great Books have been written with such narrators. The crazy sister's letter to Mick Jagger made me laugh out loud. And the narration by the prisoner describing the end of Ann's life was the icing on the cake. I teach at a women's prison and could see so much of their reality in those wonderful pages. Ann--the radical roommate cum "lifer"--becomes a kind of tragic hero--and more; she becomes an icon of the paradoxes of 60s political philosophy. The author's interpolation of other voices and views on her, especially during Ann's trial, is convincing and provides balance. I can't imagine anyone critiquing the book as a political tract. Nonetheless, I cheered when Nunez subverted the traditional "American dream" line on Great Gatsby in the final pages. Her handling of form was deft and interesting.
A Good Read Especially If You Lived Through This Time!.......2007-05-29
This is an exceptionally well-written book. Ms. Nunez captures the time with great authenticity. I was in school during this era, and many episodes discussed in this book took place at my university. Characters are well defined as are certain situations. The level of Ann's commitment "to the cause" might be questionable to some readers. There were some passages requiring patience [rock concerts, drug use, etc.], however, the characters were so compelling that they captured my attention, and I read this through to the very end. I glad I did this since the writing is far above average!! It's worth reading!
A beauty.......2007-04-12
Sigrid's new book has been on my nightstand for three months under a stack of books that had queued before it. It finally reached the top last week. What a terrific book! It is intimate and fresh and fascinating, and I absolutely hated turning the final pages.
