Microarrays are a tool for monitoring gene expression levels for thousands of genes in parallel. This technology is very useful since patterns in the gene expression can be used for molecular characterization of phenomena that range from disease states and response to stimuli to the differences between cells of different types. The amount of information obtained from one microarray experiment can be large. These large amounts of information present new challenges in the areas of data storage, management, and analysis by biologists who are not accustomed to dealing with this much data. Also, the software used for data analysis is usually written by mathematicians and statisticians that have a minimum of training in biology.

This book addresses some of the issues faced by researchers who are beginning their first microarray experiments. It covers various aspects of designing and analyzing the results of microarray experiments. Microarrays are not limited to the study of gene expression, but this remains the most common use of the technology and therefore is the only use of arrays discussed here. This book attempts to explain the underlying concepts and principles routinely used in analysis of gene expression data. The book should be accessible by statisticians, computer scientists, and students of bioinformatics who want a grounding in the types of analysis currently used to study microarray data.

The book begins with an introductory chapter which is followed by three major chapters. As with any technology that has the capacity to detect small changes in a highly dynamic system, the underlying experimental design and the manner in which an experiment is conducted is critical for obtaining high quality data. Chapter two addresses these issues. The raw data from microarray experiments are images that must be transformed and organized into gene expression matrices. These transformations are the subject of chapter 3. Finally, in chapter 4, the common methods used for analyzing gene expression data matrices with the goal of obtaining new insights into biology are discussed. The book does a pretty good job of providing the reader with a general understanding of the nature of microarray data and how it can be analyzed. It was never meant to be a reference book or a comprehensive review, just a gentle introduction.

Well written, short explanations but nevertheless understandable.......2005-07-06

Certainly, this book can not give a complete description of microarrays, neither from an experimental nor a theoretical side. Nevertheless, the issues presented and discussed provide the reader with a solid basis for more advanced studies.

In my opinion, this book is well written, the explanations given are descriptive and understandable and its overall organization is plausible. I recommend this book as an introduction for the analysis of microarray data, because it provides a good overview of existing methods in this field. A warning: This does not mean, that all these methods are thorougly expained! It just provides an overview!! If you want to learn, e.g., clustering methods, you should consult another book (probably no other book about microarrays but a decent book dealing only with data analysis in general or clustering methods...)

Fascinating Analysis of Alien Data in Light of Scripture.......2007-07-24

I read this book with great interest. It is a page-turner that does not disappoint. The data that author gives concerning ufo's, aliens, and encounters of the third kind are quite eye-opening in this text. The author draws possible connections to these alien sightings with the information given in the Bible concerning demons(fallen angels) and spirit-beings. Although I do believe the author's sincerity in this text, I am of the opinion he is wrong about the motives behind the appearances of these beings. Not to spoil the book, I'll suffice to say that the rapture is not taken into account as a possible motive for the demonic deception and appearances.

Think about it. Many times did (Chariots), or UFO's as we now call them, appear in the times of the Old and New Testament.

Ezekel's wheel in a wheel. Elijah's whirlwind. Enoch was translated or in Star Trek terms, was transported. It was a UFO that hovered over Isreal's and Moses' cloud by day, and fire by night. Moses encounter speaking to a bush of fire that didn't burn which was simply a plasma energy or laser amplifier used to transmit voice. It was a laser writer that wrote the 10 Commandments in the rock.

Why did the mountains tremble, shake, and appear to be on fire when God appeared on them. It was an energy force created by a large vehicle. Why the Ark of The Covenant seemed to have electrical current strong enough to kill you if you touched it without using wooden insulators. The Ark of The Covenant was an energized battery and communication device. How did the Red Sea open up and then closed at the right time. UFO technology.

Jesus said, "If these hold there peace then the very rocks will cry out. How could rocks of the earth cry out? They already do. Everything that exists has a frequency in which it vibrates and can be measured, whether it be sound, light, solid, or liquid. Atoms have Quarks, and Quarks are what makes the particular piece of material. It is the molecular and atmic sub particles that vibrate in all matter.

DNA was taken from the marrow or rib of Adam to clone a female version of himself. Why was Adam made of the elements (dust or minerals) of the earth? So he could be comaptable with his environment.

Satan, or Lucifer as he once was known, thought himself smarter than God. He wanted to take on the same or greater notoriety of God and make himself higher than God. But Satan forgot he was a created being. His eyes became bigger than his brain. His treason was treated with excommunication from heaven because he left the pure science and knowledge that God intended for all creation. Satan met up with a blast of energy many times stronger than any energy force mankind has ever seen or ever will see. Jesus said, "I beheld Satan falling from heaven as lightning." In other words Jesus was describing the energy force that was so powerful, that after the dust and smoke cleared, Satan woke up on the opposite side of the Universe at speeds faster than light.

Hell is not in the center of the earth, as we think in terms. Hell is located on the very southern end of the universe opposite of where God is which is in the most Northern end of the universe. Hell is sometimes described as "The Place of Outer Darkness". In other words, Hell is totally void of light and exists in absolute darkness.

Moses asked God to let him see him face to face but God told Moses it was not possible. God put Moses in a cave and passed by the cave exposing only the back side of Himself to Moses. Why? Because the energy field around God is so strong that He had to shield Moses from it so as to not kill him from exposing him to the extreme energy levels.

Why did the Angels instruct Lot and his family to get behind the mountain in a hurry and not stop to look back? Because mountains will shield you from radiation and the light flash from a nuclear blast. It reduced lots wife to ashes or a (pillar of salt). Why salt? The two cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were located near the Salt Sea and the tremendous heat from the nuclear blast caused the saltwater to vaporize and was carried with the nuclear wind and it fused to her body much like the ashes that were found on the victims of Pompe.

Great book to give a skeptic.......2004-01-28

Ignore the guy calling this science fiction. This book makes a credible and documented case for the existence of UFOs (whatever their nature) almost better than anything in print, and I say that as the OWNER of a UFO bookstore in Roswell New Mexico! It also represents the Genesis 6 paradigm in an easy-to-understand and consice manner - again better than any book in print. I've given it to two pastors who were "wowed" and glad that I carry(ied) it here. I've sold many of course, and am disappointed that it is out of print. I am "on them" to reprint it, or to let me, so if they approve the project, contact me if interested in publisher authorized copies retyped by me, if Amazon is completely out, and the company does not reprint it. Try Mike Heiser's Facade which is really my overall best recommendation, but always find it hard to choose between these two books. I recommend both regularly to people who just want to know "if I'm only going to buy one book, what must it be?" Whether you begin your UFO reading with Omega Conspiracy, or end it, it's a must-read.

Great, for Science Fiction that is.......2002-10-19

Humanoids? Extraterrestrials? If you are interested in science fiction, this book is great. But if you are interested in the fulfillment of Judeo-Christian prophecy, you would be well-advised to look in the "Our Customers' Advice" section above, and read the book the is recommended there. It is truly great and reveals the meaning of real prophecy.

On the back cover of the Omegy Conspiracy, Isaac Newton is quoted predicting that biblical literalists would now be claiming they know the true meaning of prophecy. He was right about that. But as for the "end times" nonsense, Newton was just as wrong about that as the literalists are. And Thomas and Hutchings, while no doubt well-meaning, also guessed wrong, even though their take is quite different.

The truth is that when enough people get the message from the Spirit of Truth (which Jesus said would come to guide us unto all truth and show us things to come), our world will begin to be transformed. Bad leadership will fall from power. Myths will be shattered. False beliefs will be dispelled. Conflicts will be resolved. Divisions will be mended. The people will be empowered by the truth, and realizing that we are all equal joint heirs to God's new "kingdom" to come, we will begin to create a "new world" here on earth. That's what real prophecy foretells, and I pray that more people will get the message so we can start progressing toward a positive future, rather than being afraid of it.

SENSATIONAL & THOUGHT PROVOKING.......2002-10-06

I must tell you that I read this book almost ten years ago. I loved it then as I do now and find that it is even more relevant as the years pass. After reading the book, I called Reverend Thomas and chatted with him. I wanted to get him booked on Maury, Oprah or Montel and no one was interested. It goes to show that no one really wants to hear the truth. The book is fascinating, thoroughly.

I have read a lot of books and watched a lot of documentaries about the Biblical Prophecies, End Times, Armaggedon, etc. but this book still gave me a lot of new discoveries!! It's really amazing!! If there's 10 stars, I would definitely give it that rating. The author researched a lot. You can tell because what he/she wrote on the book, are the ones we have seen in different documentaries all around the globe. I admit that at first it's a little confusing. The Reincarnation is new because I am a Catholic, but the author clearly showed that Jesus indeed belived in Reincarnation. He even presented Bible texts regarding Reincarnation. This book is really trustworthy. I know God has a purpose why He let me read this book. There are a lot of controversies, but at the end the reader will realize that it's all connected. The words in this book are like pieces of the puzzle. At the end you'll learn the UNIVERSAL TRUTH. The texts are based from the Bible, History, Current Events, Scientific breakthroughs etc.!! I strongly believe in the writer. I know deep in my heart that God revealed the mysteries to the author. No person or writer can originally think of the revelations at this book. Besides the writer always remind the reader that it is God who revealed him the informations. He is very humble. Honestly I am thinking of ordering more copies and giving it to my loved ones and friends... Unsure about this one.......2007-09-07

I have to admit I stopped reading this about half way. I do plan on finishing it soon though. So far a bit too much talk about "Karma" and "reincarnation" I am having a difficult time deciphering exactly what this person's stance is in regards to these pagan religions. I don't believe in reincarnation and believe it's not Christian. This author does do an interesting job of using some scripture to support what he/she is trying to say but some I think is misplaced. Truely I am undecided about this book. I have to say it started out pretty good and interesting though. Perhaps I will finish it and post more thoughts then. Right now I believe it is a mixture of truth and error.

The author writes with passion and heart. This isn't your typical work of nonfiction. The author isn't afraid to approach controversial subjects with some of the most original revelations to ever be put into print. He/she brings forth fresh ideas that would open the eyes of the most enlightened person, while maintaining a down-to-earth conversational tone that anyone can access. The writing is both eloquent and well researched. You must read this book!

If you are looking for a book that will stimulate deep thoughts, this book is for you. If you are simple minded it will probably be over your head and you will recieve nothing for your time. Don't be afraid, it is not religious Bible thumping material. It is more like thinking outside the box. It nurtures your thoughts and you will never go higher than your own thoughts.

Close Encounters of the Absurd Kind.......2005-05-02

In memory of the late Douglas Adams ...Sacrificing a frozen chicken from the supermarket to a supernatural deity, taking your pet penguin to the local pub to keep him from getting bored, and spotting Satan wearing a bra and handcuffed in the back of a police car are all suspiciously normal activities on a primitive planet that has not even been properly surveyed yet because the planetary surveyor was a derranged lunatic who called himself the Grim Reaper, just prior to going really mad and dying his hair pink in an effort to remember his own name in the morning.
