Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

5 out of 5 stars Great view of Alchemy........2006-03-31

This book really helps one appreciate the wonderful view that those truly devoted to Alchemy had. Unlike the rather narrow view of most modern day branches of science, the Alchemist look to understand the whole. This little book helps one to appreciate that approach.

4 out of 5 stars Good overview.......2003-07-04

This is a great starter book for those that wish to skim the surface of what Alchemy (Hermetic Philosophy) is about. This book isn't lessons or teachings but rather a history and overview, rather accurate and unbaised in my opinion. Very well researched and good photos. Good first step book.

Book Description

According to evolutionary biologists, we are the minders of our genes. But, as Christopher Badcock points out in this book, it is only recently that evolutionists have realized that minders need minds, and that evolution needs psychology to fill the yawning gap between genes and behaviour.

Evolutionary Psychology assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, and concentrates on the fundamental issues raised by the application of modern Darwinism to psychology. Basic concepts of evolution are explained carefully, so that the reader has a sound grasp of them before their often controversial application to psychology is discussed. The approach is a critical one, and the author does not hide the many difficulties that evolutionary psychology raises. Examples include the strange neglect of Darwin's own writings on psychology, and the fact that no existing theory has succeeded in explaining why the human brain evolved in the first place.

The book is the first to give a non-technical account of remarkable new findings about the roles that conflicting genes play in building different parts of the brain. It is also the first to consider the consequences of this for controversies like those over nature/nurture, IQ, brain lateralization and consciousness.

Evolutionary Psychology is based on many years experience of teaching evolution and psychology to social science students, and is intended for all who wish to get to grips with the basic issues of one of the most exciting and rapidly growing areas of modern science.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent introduction that holds the attention.......2002-01-20

This was the first book on evolutionary psychology I read, and it was an easy-to-understand and engaging introduction that gave me the background I needed to tackle more difficult works such as _The Adapted Mind_. Badcock explains the history of the movement well, treats most issues with healthy skepticism, and explains natural selection in such a way that most readers, even those without preexisting knowledge of evolution, should find quite easy to understand.

That being said, I had a couple of problems towards the end of the book, Badcock's strange fascination with Freud being first among them. He takes some very interesting data on unconscious processing and treats it as evidence that Freud was right on about all the defense mechanisms and so forth. He also seemed too set on the goal of reframing the mother/fetus relationship as an "arms race", although this is a more minor criticism. If it weren't for the Freud apologetics, I'd give this book 5 stars.

5 out of 5 stars Fibber McGee and Molly brought to you by Johnson's Wax.......2007-03-18

Fibber McGee and Molly were a popular radio comedy duo of the late 1930s early 40s. This CD includes two radio shows from 1941 noted by another reviewer rather than those in the product description. Part of the charm for me is that the original commercials for Johnson's wax are included. The CD has excellent radio-level sound quality. One comical song is an ode to the radio sound effect man. Give yourself or a friend an authentic 1940s radio experience with this CD.

The CD is excellent but the product description is incorrect. 5 Stars for the CD. Less stars for Amazon

5 out of 5 stars Actual show titles.......2006-12-06

              The description of this cd is totally incorrect. Actually this cd has two shows to enjoy, not those shown;

Amusement Park 06-17-41 & Off to Hollywood 06-24-41.

Both are excellent, if you're a Fibber McGee & Molly fan.

I have owned this cd for a few years having purchased it directly from Radio Spirits. I was hoping to get new shows as stated in the description.

In the past, the Smithsonian collections of Old-Time Radio were packaged in boxes of cassettes or CDs with 3 radio shows on each but with slight abridgments on the CDs to meet the 79-minute limitation of that format. Later, Radio Spirits was good enough to issue new collections on both formats, giving each CD only two complete shows instead of three shortened ones.

The latest entry, , holds only 10 cassettes or 10 CDs in the case with two shows on each. (The tapes are very awkwardly packaged, making it difficult to remove them if you are driving.) But though there is less material, there are plenty of laughs to go around. Mind you, there are already available Smithsonian collections with the same performers --"Comedy From the Golden Age of Radio," "Comedy Favorites," and "Showbiz Teams"-- but Radio Spirits has been careful not to duplicate anything from those selected for the earlier offerings.

"The Abbott & Costello Program" gives us two 1944 shows, the first of which is highlighted by a Who's-on-first-type verbal mixup over the names of dogs and the second of which has Lou revisit his old school in Patterson, NJ. While "The Amos 'n' Andy Show" might no longer be politically correct, we have two hilarious shows from 1951, the first of which is a gem of the "best laid plans often go astray" variety. The 1940 "Burns and Allen Show" entries are strangely weak. Could it be because they lack the familiar theme song at the start? The "Duffy's Tavern" 1949 samples are very funny, with special thanks to Sheldon Leonard in his usual tough-guy role and Charles Coburn as an aged cardshark. "Fibber McGee and Molly" never seem to change and these 1945 shows are pretty much as weakly plotted but energetically acted as the one offered in the other sets. "The Great Gildersleeve" is notable for being one of the earliest known spin-offs from another show. Unhappily it is just another example of how a man trying to run a family cannot run his own life. Only the women seem to have any sense, at least back in 1947 when these were broadcast. "The Jack Benny Progam" is always good and these two from 1946 are no exception. His confrontation with Fred Allen is predictably side-splitting, as is his confrontation with a surreal radio set.Dagwood Bumstead around, the ultimate bumbling head of the household has to be the lead in "The Life of Riley." Here William Bendix tries to do the right thing in the completely wrong way in both of these 1948 episodes.character of "Lucy" was well established way before she and Desi made television history. Here we have two 1948 airings of "My Favorite Husband" in which Liz's lies in the first and an April Fool's gag in the second naturally and predictably lead to disaster. And finally we have two 1955 examples of "Our Miss Brooks," one of which deals with vacationing with her heart-throb Mr. Boynton and the other with her thinking that Principal Conklin is down on his luck.

Again, these very popular shows have a great historical value in their celebration of the middle class family values that permeated the post-war and Eisenhower years and the assumption that Father did not know best--be he black or white, mind you--while the female was in every way superior. Such is the essence of comedy--and if you sometimes wonder why the audience is laughing as you hear these old-time shows, just examine what passes for humor today.

Don't let the suspiciously low price steer you away from this. It's a good little CD. The two classic radio shows are funny (including the "Who's on First?" bit) and the sound quality is surprisingly outstanding. If you're a fan of Abbott and Costello, you could do worse than give this a try.

5 out of 5 stars NOT a CD. This is #4 in the Print Series!.......2007-05-04

                    This was a great book!

In the first story, the Shadow, who was first an announcer on the radio before appearing in print, is pitted against a master criminal who has the nerve to announce his murders on the radio, for the entire city to hear! After a string of successful murders pulled under the noses of the police, the muder master announces his next victim will be The Shadow!

In the second story, The Shadow, and the REAL Lamont Cranston team up against a gang who recruit two new members for every one cut off, just like the mythic Hydra! This story not only has Cranston and the Shaodw working together, but also has Margo Lane's first appearance in print! A long running member of the Shadow's team on the radio, she finally joined him on the printed page!

My honest opnion of this book is that it is a great double-header, especially since it shows the Shadow is only human, just incredibly dedicated and disciplined. A wounded Shadow who keeps trying even when the odds are against him is SO much more impressive than a superhero who can't be hurt.

And please ignore the review where the person reviews a CD collection. This ISBN is for the BOOK, not a CD collection of Old Time Radio shows.

                    Get it, you'll love it!

1 out of 5 stars I did not like it.......2006-10-23

Boring. Includes the old advertisments--even more boring.
I listen to audio cds in my car.
This is a set of 20 cds.
Most of these were terribly boring, a few were OK.
The stop points for fast forwarding were few, and poorly placed.
