Book Description
This new and updated edition deals with all aspects of Monte Carlo simulation of complex physical systems encountered in condensed-matter physics, statistical mechanics, and related fields. After briefly recalling essential background in statistical mechanics and probability theory, it gives a succinct overview of simple sampling methods. The concepts behind the simulation algorithms are explained comprehensively, as are the techniques for efficient evaluation of system configurations generated by simulation. It contains many applications, examples, and exercises to help the reader and provides many new references to more specialized literature. This edition includes a brief overview of other methods of computer simulation and an outlook for the use of Monte Carlo simulations in disciplines beyond physics. This is an excellent guide for graduate students and researchers who use computer simulations in their research. It can be used as a textbook for graduate courses on computer simulations in physics and related disciplines.

Customer Reviews:
First in the marine series is a sizzler.......2007-01-18
Restoration specialist Ronnie never thought she'd set foot in the family's honky tonk bar again, let alone work there, but when her sister Crystal is murdered and ex-husband Eddie skips town, Ronnie finds herself in unfamiliar territory playing mother to niece Lizzy and waitress in a bar she hates which is run by the mysterious former marine Cooper Blacksmith, who is hiding plenty of secrets, including the fact that he is Eddie's half brother. The attraction between the two heats up from their first meeting.
Andersen's first in the marine series is a rollicking and believable romance with a mystery tossed in. Both are running from pasts that they'd rather not face, but can't help fall for each other in this sizzling tale.
Suspenseful and unexpected.......2006-03-06
I hadn't read any of this author's books before this one so I wasn't sure what to expect.I was thinking it would be a comedy but it's more of a romantic mystery and it worked really well for that. The heroine having to work the honky tonk she hated so much and the ex-Marine hero have a compelling, entertaining relationship.
Entertaining!.......2006-02-24
I enjoyed this novel. The interaction between the characters was believeable and humorous. The murder sub-plot was interesting, too. I had no idea who killed Crystal until the end. I look forward to reading more Susan Andersen books.
Best book I've ever read!!!.......2005-06-21
This book is honestly the best book I've ever read. It made you feel warm and fuzzy, yet mad and disappointed at times, but it ended with such a great conclusion. You couldn't ask for a better storyline. They should make a movie!!
Great!!.......2004-08-24
Highly recommended. One of my fav-rits! Looking forward to others in the series.
Customer Reviews:
Generic and Uninformative.......2006-05-30
I had read some positive reviews about Sparknotes novels, so I thought that this novel would both help my vocabulary and entertain me. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the cliched and predictable plot and characters. Not only did it feel like the writer had just taken a standard chick lit formula, changed some names, added a dash of SAT vocabulary, and forgot to add the vital cup of creativity. What disappointed me the most about the book was that it missed the common element in good chick lit- a protagonist the reader really cares about. The heroine, Francesca Castarelli, had little charcater development except the same tired teenage angst involving boys without the wit that usually accompanies it.
You may be asking why I'm so critical of an SAT novel. After all, it's just supposed to enhance vocabulary, right? It's not going to be a bestseller. Yet, the paltry definitions of the SAT words listed at the bottom attest to its uselessness. In some cases, the defintions are even wrong. For example, the word eclectic is defined in the book as meaning selective, when it means to selective or draw from a wide range of sources. The word suggest well- roundedness, not being picky, as the Head Over Heels defintion suggests. Many other defintions are misleading because the author has decided to cut defintions down to one to three words. The novel was also disappointed because, unlike the Marino Mission, another vocabulary enrichment novel, it had no exercises in the back to test your knowledge of the words so you could know whether you were actually absorbing any of the vocabulary.
So if you're desparate to learn vocabulary in less than two weeks and aren't picky when it comes to what you read, then I'd suggest buying it. It does have some moments of humor, but they are few and overshadowed by its thin and unoriginal plot.
A book for girls who like romance.......2005-12-19
The book is about two girls named Fran and Nikki, who are really good friends. The story of the girls shows the hardships for girls in high school. There are two main boys, Jeremy and Luke that have confusion with their feelings towards one another. Also, there is a conflict between the girls' friendship that needs to be worked out. I mainly liked it. There were parts that I didn't like, but they were small. The events that happened to Fran and Nikki are things that happen to most girls when looking for love, so you can relate to the book. While relating to the book, you can work on your vocabulary for the SATS or just for yourself. I felt that it was easy to understand. There are words that I didn't know but they were usually the bolded vocabulary words, which were defined on the bottom of the page.
HEAD OVER HEELS.......2004-06-07
This book was about this girl named Freancesca. She was 17. She had a complicated personality. She went to Colombus High School. Her biggest problem was this Luke because he was smarter then she was.
What I didn't like was the vocabulary because I couldn't pronounc half of the words. They didn't give good enough descriptions. What I did like was it covered a lot of stuff that happens in school.

Book Description
Beloved Christian psychologist Dr. James Dobson speaks honestly and openly about what love is and what it isn't, helping couples and dating singles understand the myths and reality of emotions. He addresses the joy and beauty of sex in marriage, and the destruction and heartbreak of sex outside of marriage. A true-or-false quiz, followed by brief discussions of each question and answer, emphasizes and explains the most common misconceptions of love. A learning/discussion section, containing questions and Scripture references to be used individually or in a group setting, follows the discussion on romantic love. Highlighted with callouts and a section entitled the "Interpretations of Impressions," this practical yet hard-hitting book ends with a poignant letter from Dr. Dobson to his beloved wife, Shirley.

Customer Reviews:
Loved this book!.......2006-02-28
This is book two of a series about a school inspector in Yorkshire and it is delightful. (You should read book one first if possible). I was first drawn to it because of my enjoyment of James Herriot's books but after just a few pages I was hooked on it for its own merits. Any one who is a parent, a teacher, or just a lover of children will enjoy this. It is a gentle story with a running thread of romance but the primary emphasis is on the children and the teachers in the various schools inspected by Mr. Phinn. He obviously loves his job and is passionate about helping children reach for the stars. I'm really looking forward to books three and four.
