    5 out of 5 stars Ocean Life from A to Z (book & DVD).......2007-06-02

This title was originally purchased for the library that I work in. I reviewed the title for the collection and enjoyed it so much that I purchased a copy for my nephew. It is very informative as well as entertaining. The still photography and video are exceptionally well-done. I think it's a book and movie that kids will enjoy over and over.

5 out of 5 stars Great content, respectful presentation, and fabulous videography.......2007-05-24

Many science and nature videos aimed at children offer little more than pretty pictures. Most A-B-C films merely recite a list of words chosen to match the letters, dressed up with brief and painfully dull commentary. Imagine our delight (no, our amazement) at this combination of spectacular videography and deep. instructive narration. Annie's voice and narrative pace are well suited to young viewers, but she delivers a great deal of information in a way that respects a child's ability and desire to learn. Every creature she introduces is described in ways that make it clearly, fascinatingly different from the others. Our son insists that we be quiet so he can hear every word.

On top of all this information quality, the videography is simply gorgeous. I don't know how she finds such crystalline water and beautiful subjects but these are the best underwater images we've ever seen. We cannot recommend this highly enough.

4 out of 5 stars Great book and DVD.......2007-05-07

My sisters and I loved reading the book and looking at the pictures. We saw the pictures come to life when we watched the DVD. We think that all kids will enjoy learning about ocean life if they have this book.

5 out of 5 stars Librarian Loves It!.......2007-02-27

I am a grade school librarian. I have read this book to all my pre-k -third graders and they love it! The DVD is a huge hit! My own four year old requests this DVD often! I give this book and DVD a definite thumbs up!

5 out of 5 stars A wonderful Gift for Kids and Parents Alike!.......2007-02-27

I love this Book/Dvd. What a great concept! It is my top gift to give to all the kids I know (and their parents). I am a Scuba Diver, and am always being asked to bring my pictures over to show my friend's children. This book is SO much better, and the DVD can be played along with, or separately from the beautiful, hard bound book.

Over 120 NEW Minerals with photographs, and updated old minerals. The update to the most comprehensive reference book addresses the metaphysical properties of hundreds of minerals, correlated to the astrological signs. The book takes the reader on an intimate journey into the subtle realms of crystal energy. Find the configurations, numerical vibrations, master numbers, preparatory methodology, and practical applications of all the minerals from A-Z. This book is the last supplement to the internationally acclaimed best-selling Love is in the Earth series.

Internationally known, best-selling author of the "Love is in the Earth" series, Melody was born in Cumberland, Maryland, and now resides in the Rocky Mountain region. She is a scientist and holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Art degrees in mathematics. She has been working with stones since she was a child, always evidencing an interest in the geological and mystical properties of these children of the Mother Earth. Due to the desire to share her research and knowledge with her brothers and sisters of the planet, and due to the need to make the information available at the onset of the "Age of Love", she has updated this popular book. In addition to her work within the United States, she has taught crystal workshops in Brazil, the Republic of South Africa, and Australia, and has held private consultations in India and Nepal.

    Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Love is in the Earth A Kaleidoscopic Pictorial Suppplement Z.......2006-11-03

This is a fine follow up on Melody's other books. I did find that the pictures left a little to be desired, but still there were pictures which do not feature in her original book (a pity I thought). Again I feel that if you are interested in Crystals then you can learn from this book as well. I would recommend that you add this book to your collection I have.

3 out of 5 stars Mineral Pictures and Mineral Nonsense.......2006-03-31

This book and the similar one, supplement A, have additional mineral photographs and discussions of the minerals that were not in her earlier, larger book with a similar title (Mineralogical Pictorial). The photographs in these two supplements are of lower quality than in her main book but are still useful, along with brief descriptions of the mnerals. There is far more text describing the Nonsense attributes of minerals. For example, "Friedelite has been used to assist in the study of the French language (to expedite studying and comprehension of details) and in managing situations with the French populace when one does not speak the same language (to increase knowledge associated with aesthetics)." It is not clear to me how close to the mineral you have to be to get the best French learning effect. Do you eat the stuff? If the mineral effect is good for several hundred yards distance then it might be useful in schools. Also, "In addition, it has been used by many soccer players to advance agility, gain, and acumen during the game, It tends to act as guidance in instinctual actions, providing 'the edge'." "Vibrates to the number 3." ????? There are plenty of medical uses claimed but there are NO references to actual uses. For example, "The mineral [Fossil Algae] has been used to transmute of disordered energy into healing energy. It has been used in the treatment of infection, scleroderma, and high cholesterol, to assist in spinal alignment and assimilation of iron and Vitamin A, and in the elimination of toxicity from the body." Consider buying the book only for the mineral pictures. If you buy only one in the series buy the "Love Is in the Earth-Mineralogical Pictorial. Howard McPherson

4 out of 5 stars Love Is in the Earth: Kaleidoscopic Pictorial Supplement Z .......2005-07-27

This book was very informative as well as interesting. Well written and the pictorials were excellent. If you'e interested in this subject,I highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars The crystal healers bible..........2002-05-21

A must for all healers, enthusiasts and anyone with an interest. Really informative and covers just about everything you'll ever need to know. I refer to this book all the time, if you have an interest in healing then you MUST have this book.

2 out of 5 stars OOPS -- **NOT** "really" the "PICTORIAL SUPPLEMENT".......2002-02-06

I ordered this book thinking it was the "pictorial supplement" to Melody's challenging (read: "pictureless") five-star original sensitive-gal **Love is in the Earth** encyclopedic guide. This is a thin book of leftovers on glossy paper with one small and really lame picture on each two page spread. NOT WHAT I HAD IN MIND. In truth I wanted the much larger, similarly named: **Love Is in the Earth - Mineralogical Pictorial : Treasures of the Earth.** Gee -- is it me? That's minus one for stupid title breeding, -1 for using a scanner to take pictures of the rocks, and -1 for for not coming out with a new edition of **Love Is in the Earth: A Kaleidoscope of Crystals,** instead.

    Book Description

Sponsored jointly by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis "It's much too late but this is the book we should have had in Paris during the five years effort to get a political settlement of the Vietnam War. . . . Thought provoking." --Indochina Chronology "An important contribution to a better understanding of international relations . . . with reflective discussions as well as thorough case studies." --Indian Express Culture--along with many other variables--often impacts international negotiations. Culture and Negotiation offers a unique contribution by focusing on the distinctive impact of culture, both in creating unexpected opportunities for dispute settlement and in imposing obstacles to agreement. Separated into three sections, part I presents expert views on the nature and limits of culture's influence on negotiation. Part II comprises the core of the book, and contains a wealth of case studies and analyses of international disputes regarding water resources. Each case asks the following key questions: What are the different cultural components that made a difference in the outcome? How did culture play a role in the negotiation process? What are some specific illustrations of culture's contributing role, both to the dispute and to the ways in which it was handled? Part III includes implications for practitioners and policymakers, along with new directions for future studies. Culture and Negotiation is an essential resource for international relations practitioners in both the private and public sectors, as well as scholars and researchers interested in either culture or the theory and practice of negotiation and dispute resolution.

    Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Dealing with cultural differences as an invisible Great Wall.......2000-10-17

The authors deal with complex issues and are able to shed light on the many subtleties of the related negotiation processes. There is a most useful state of the art followed by a very good analysis of real world cases including one on China. There is a lot to learn from it even by people who are new comers in the domain. The book is going to be published in Chinese before the end of this year.

5 out of 5 stars Rich experience with clearly defined analytical approaches.......2000-10-17

It is unique to study the details of the negotiation process on such a complicated subject with scientific approaches. The study stimulates further thinking for both researchers and practitioners to be more productive to deal with the cultural aspects and complexity in international negotiation.

5 out of 5 stars This book is not out of print.......1999-03-28

Excellent book, well documented, full of insights on negotiation over water conflicts.

            Book Description

Global climate change is expected to have major impacts on water resources and aquatic ecosystems. This prospect presents planners, who are already struggling to meet the demands of growing populations and economies, with new challenges. This volume examines these challenges and the resulting conceptual issues for water planning and project evaluation practices. The book is the first attempt to consider whether and how water resources, planning principles and evaluation criteria should be altered in view of the potential impacts of anthropogenically induced climate change. The principles and procedures that are in use today along with new approaches to nonstructural flood plain management, watershed management, water markets, and wetland banking will serve as the basis for the policies and strategies that deal with climate variability and anticipated change. This collection of papers reviews what water management ideas work, which ones need to be changed, and how planners and managers should begin incorporating aspects of risk and uncertainty into management decisions to deal expertly with climate change.

God is the patron of the Jewish people, his chosen people, guiding them through history and ultimately back to the Promised Land.

God is three and one, incarnate in Christ His Son, and offers salvation to all equally.

God is pure unity, with no parents or children, saving all who submit to His Will.

God is beyond human understanding, and all the above statements are true.

But the Divine Realm is not completely beyond human comprehension, and this book explains the power of God in Mythic Europe. From descriptions of each of the three great Divine religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, to rules for Divinely-empowered wonder workers and angels, this book contains everything needed to include the Divine in your Ars Magica saga.

Nine-year-old Draper Doyle Ryan, sole male heir to the once-venerable Ryan name, seems an unlikely family savior. Harried by his own frantic hormones, flustered by his many insufficiencies, and beset by a cadre of oppressive relatives, about the only defense he has is an endlessly inventive imagination. It's a fine line between coming-of-age sentimentality and gratuitous high jinks Wayne Johnston walks in his pleasing novel The Divine Ryans; the result--a snapshot of that twilight between childhood befuddlement and mature disillusionment--is unexpected and deft.

Draper Doyle's life in Newfoundland, circa mid-1960s, is as constrained as it is colorful. Cooped up in one house with various family oddballs, he views the world from the bottom rungs of the ladder. Perpetually harangued by the frigid and imperious Aunt Phil (whose powers of humiliation reach their apex when she displays a pair of his urine-stained underwear on the kitchen bulletin board), and browbeaten by one smarmy, perverse uncle, Father Seymour, the boy retreats into consoling fantasy, fretful ruminations, and the friendship of his only ally, irreverent Uncle Reginald. When Phil employs a weary argument to shame Draper Doyle into finishing a meal, Reginald wonders aloud if bulletins were "being sent to the poor people of South America by the hour, keeping them up to date about what percentage of their food children of the Western world were eating." Draper Doyle is also haunted--literally--by the ghost of his father, a mystery whose painful resolution almost miraculously offers deliverance to both him and his mother.

What is most gratifying about The Divine Ryans is that it moves so effortlessly from the comic to the bittersweet, from the madcap to the revelatory. Johnston's Twainesque aptitude transmutes drollness and hyperbole into something larger: out of his young hero's absurd comic tangles, we sense a subject slowly grasping not only the shortcomings of those who love him, but also their many travails. The book's divine. --Ben Guterson

                      Book Description

From the author of The Colony of Unrequited Dreams, "An absolute stunner--achingly funny, needle-sharp, and packing an unexpected wallop...the literary equivalent of a small-budget movie masterpiece with heart, soul, and brains"(Time Out).

The Ryans of St. John's, Newfoundland, are a large and deeply eccentric Irish-Catholic family in the dual business of newspaper-publishing and undertaking--"one-hundred years of digging up dirt of one kind or another," as Uncle Reginald puts it. Enough Ryans also become priests and nuns to earn them the sobriquet "Divine."

The youngest member of the family is nine-year-old Draper Doyle Ryan, whose passion for the Catholic Montreal Canadiens in their battles against the Protestant Toronto Maple Leafs is matched only by his perplexity over his recently deceased father's regular reappearances, hockey puck in hand, in the house next door. How he comes to make sense of these visitations, his gently screwy relatives, and his own burgeoning sexuality forms the matter of this droll, wise, and effortlessly funny coming-of-age novel.

Soon to be a major motion picture from the producer of Love and Death on Long Island, and starring Oscar®-nominee Pete Postlethwaite.

                      5 out of 5 stars Sharp-witted coming-of-age tale.......2007-07-27

Hilarious and scalpel sharp, Wayne Johnston's 1990 novel looks back at 1967, the awful year following the death of 9-year-old Draper Doyle Ryan's father. Narrator and stumbling hero, Draper Doyle battles the buffeting winds of his formidable relatives, the terrors of burgeoning sexuality and the mystifying appearances of his father's ghost.

The Newfoundland Ryans, a viciously insular clan known throughout the city of St. John's as "Divine" for their plethora of priests and nuns, own a failing newspaper and a thriving funeral home. After his father's death, Draper Doyle, his 12-year-old sister Mary (a marvelous mix of awkward, kindly, petty and roguish adolescence) and their mother, Linda, are forced to move in with the family matriarch, Aunt Philomena, their own home sold to keep the Catholic-biased "Daily Chronicle" afloat.

Also housed at Aunt Phil's is caustic and irreverent Uncle Reginald, whose house had gone into the maw of the "Chronicle" ten years before. Aunt Phil's siblings, the sanctimonious, sadistic Father Seymour and crippled Sister Louise, are frequent visitors and supporters of Phil's narrow-minded, humorless tyranny.

Formidable Aunt Phil rules the roost with implacable righteousness, dragging Draper Doyle to strangers' wakes at the funeral home, dragging her sister-in-law to the cemetery. She celebrates her own widowhood and Linda's too, saying, "He's free now...free from the marriage bed."

Early on, she announces that Draper Doyle will forego his beloved hockey to become one of Father Seymour's "Number," a group of 100 orphans who sing in a chorus, tap dance and box. A fanatical Montreal Canadiens (Habs) fan, Draper Doyle plays goal because he can't skate well enough to be anything else. Unfortunately, he's not much of a goalie either.

"I subscribed to the little-known dodge ball school of goaltending, which was founded on the economy of pain principle, which stated that if it would hurt more to stop a shot than to let it in the net, you should let it in. In short, I played as if the point of playing goal was to keep the puck from hitting me."

But Father Seymour has no intention of spoiling his Number with untalented Draper Doyle and shunts him aside while compelling him, nevertheless, to attend practices. Bored and miserable, Draper Doyle finds some solace in his Uncle Reg's sessions of "psycho-oralysis," "the opposite of psychoanalysis."

Uncle Reg institutes the sessions because of his nephew's frequent nightmares and sighting of his father's ghost, always with hockey puck in hand. "He told me the job of an analyst was to listen while the job of an oralyst was to speak. The job of an analyst was to take his patient seriously. The job of an oralyst was to make him laugh." The oralyst can lie, veer off on irrelevant tangents and have fun at the patient's expense - literally.

Since the sessions will cost him half his allowance, Draper Doyle asks if they will do him any good. " `You should consider yourself lucky,' he said. `Hamlet, who also saw his father's ghost, did not have nearly so nice an uncle.'"

Draper Doyle's year is punctuated by towering moments - his "last" hockey competition against his sister, the Number's Christmas concert disrupted by his father's appearance, his first and final boxing match. Between these crisis crescendos, the rich interplay of Ryans keeps things hopping through the nightmare of weekly confessions to Father Seymour, televised Habs games and psychological warfare, until repressed memories about his father's death begin to surface in Draper Doyle, leading to terrible but liberating understanding.

Johnston ("The Colony of Unrequited Dreams") writes with seemingly effortless wit and insight. His characters, no matter how awful, weak or bumbling, are vividly human and Draper Doyle's story is heart-breakingly, side-splittingly compelling.

                      4 out of 5 stars Divine Johnston.......2005-03-06

Another great by Wayne Johnston. I first got into this author with the book Colony of Unrequited Dreams, and while a bit slow, you could hear a certain voice in his writing. Divine Ryans didn't have a chance to be slow. It's a fairly short read, yet it's near impossible to put down. If you want an awesome read, with quite a change of pace from your average novel, make sure to pick this one up; the view from a child's perspective is worth it alone.

                      4 out of 5 stars Poor kid!.......2003-06-02

I picked this book up mainly for the name and intriguing cover (yes, you can pick a book by the cover!). Inside was a look into a child's life, reminding me of Angela's Ashes... this poor child suffered at the hands of his relatives and lineage. I probably wouldn't read it again, but I will pass it along to my friends who read.

3 out of 5 stars Good, Not Great.......2001-02-19

And I expected great what with Catholic guilt and hockey and comic writing all in one novel. There are some very funny moments -- for example, a devastating take on tap dancing and the poor starving children of -- in this case -- Latin America. The memories of the Canadiens and the other original NHL teams before expansion, and the frigid days and nights of street hockey are exactly right. Plus, Uncle Reginald and Draper Doyle are consistently engaging and give the book most of its considerable energy, although it stretches credulity that a nine year old boy should so completely recall over several detailed pages a dream absolutely crucial to the novel's climatic moments. Bigger problems: Draper's mother is too peripheral, as ethereal as the ghost father, and Aunt Phil and Uncle Seymour are so unremittingly mean-spirited that they become more parody than human. Finally, the twist as Draper Doyle begins to recall the lost week of his father's death is unexpectedly nasty, and leaves this novel uneasily perched between the comic and terrible personal discovery. Still, while The Divine Ryans is not a must read, it is the work of an author with talent clearly under development.

                      4 out of 5 stars Unexpected Divinity.......2000-06-17

I found this book quite intriging. In the spirit of "American Beauty", it is a tale about a dysfuntional family. It is told as almost a bitter sweet memoir of a real person's childhood in Newfoundland in the 1960's. You learn to dislike and like the different characters in the childs eyes and see how his divine family has truely fallen from grace. The characters in the book that should be the most devout and true are the most ignorant and irritating, these people being the preist and nun in the family. The leader of their Irish-Catholic, you could almost say cult, is the aunt of Draper Doyle (the young child). She is the most nauseating character I have yet to come across. She is filled with Hipocrisy and all the things that she is against. She also threatens the safty of Draper Doyle's newly widowed mother. Their entire future depends on Draper Doyle's recognization of his nightmares which cause him unbelievable embarassment in the face of his relative. His only refuge from his devout aunts and uncles is his uncle reginald who is one of the most endearing and genuinly funny characters I have come across. This book is fantasticly written (unlike this review, I have need of spell check) and keeps your attention from one paragraph to the next which is always a Divine thing in a book.

5 out of 5 stars Divine Witness is Fun Reading.......2004-05-30

Meet Nick Morrison and Trevor Devane. Nick and Trevor are pubescent twelve year olds, inseparable, fast friends for years from the town of Elk River Montana. They horse around, play tricks on each other, disparage each other in fun and are two thoroughly enjoyable characters.

One weekend in May, shortly before summer, the boys take a ride on their bikes to the Elk River. It seems the winter runoff that spring was severe, causing widespread flooding and tremendous damage and now that the flood waters have finally receded, our boys are off to explore the damage.

The flood caused extreme erosion of the river bank and our explorers discovered a partially exposed crate in the side of the bank. Unfortunately it was lodged rather high but our tenacious duo finally managed, after concerted efforts to pull a portion of the crate loose as they fell. What they discovered in the portion that came out with their fall both intrigued and revolted Nick and Trevor. There were some old hippie style clothes, some jewelry and bones and a SKULL. Human bones and skull. What have they found?

In addition to skeleton and clothes, they found a bracelet, which Trevor wanted to give to Wendy Buckwalter, a girl in his class that Trevor has a crush on and an old hippie headband. Since Trevor wants the bracelet, he insists that Nick keep the headband and places it upon Nick's head and when he does Nick suddenly feels very strange, "like he is being propelled through a vacuum of air at the speed of light", all of a sudden Nick finds himself in an automobile in the presence of a dark haired girl who trying to beat him off(no not that way). She finally breaks free and make a run for it and Nick chases after her, catches her and strikes her with his flashlight. At this point, Nick, wakes up to a bemused, scared Trevor. It seems Nick was in a trance and his nose even started to bleed. This went on until the headband, while Trevor was shaking him, was flung free.

Thus, begins an odyssey in which the boys, after reporting the body, first to their parents and then to the authorities, with the help of the miraculous headband, start a parallel investigation and eventually bring the lovely Wendy Buckwalter in the fold to help out. It seems there was a series of pretty young women disappearing, five in all, around 1975 none of which were ever found but there are those who notice the boys inquisitions. Those who would rather let sleeping dogs lie.

What follows is a period of harassment that began as a warning then brutality at the hands of the insufferable Sheriff's Deputy, Dwight. This pattern continues and escalates to a point where the boys and Wendy's very lives are in danger.

At this point the trio decide to carry on their investigation in a surreptitious manner but events start to move so fast and out of control that our heroes ultimately find themselves in what appears to be untenable situation.

                            Conclusion

The whole time I was reading Divine Witness I felt a familiarity with the writing style. Upon further examination I decided that our book has a similar writing style with J.K. Rowling. My wife, who is a Harry Potter fanatic agreed. There's nothing pretentious in the writing style, like say Dean Koontz, who's always trying to show you how smart he is and constantly going off on tangents and loosing the reader(though I like Koontz, I'm agonizing through one of his books right now).

Why I feel a similarity with Rowling's writing I'm not sure. Perhaps it's because the book moved right along, resisting the urge to get lost in details or maybe because it's written for the average person and with a paucity of four and five syllable words but most likely it's because the book seems to be directed toward a young audience.

No, Ryan Seek's book is for people, not readers. He brings Nick and Trevor, along with Wendy, to life and gives them substance. Nick's Donna Reed style homemaker mother and Trevors' tough no nonsense father also are likeable characters. Likewise it's hard not to despise the somewhat inept, dimwitted but thoroughly nasty antagonist, Deputy Dwight. I can picture a thirteen year old, with one caveat, (There is some playful bantering and other profanities) or a seventy year old or anyone in between reading and enjoying this book.

4 out of 5 stars Reminds me of King, Laymon and McCammon.......2003-04-25

I'd never heard of this guy before, but I went ahead and got the book anyway just because the cover looked cool (I know, I know). Needless to say, anytime you read an author for the first time you wonder if you wasted your money or not. I was pleasantly surprised by this book.

This is a mystery that reads more like a suspense book. It is fast paced with very little over indulgence by the writer. The scenes move quickly and most are quite exciting, making it a hard book to put down. He kind of writes like Richard Laymon with alot of dialogue and just enough description to let you picture each scene. There is no doubt I like this guy's style, but the thing that really stands out about this book are the characters. Within the first 30 pages or so you are already firmly attached to the main characters, two twelve year old boys who both have very unique personalities.

This is the only book of his I could find, and his website says its his first novel. Well, if this is first, I can't wait to read more! Not sure who the author most resembles, but when I read it I thought of Laymon, Stephen King's novella called The Body (better known as the movie Stand By Me), and Robert McCammon's Boys Life. Seek says on his website that King and McCammon are two of his biggest influences, so that's probably not surprising. Funny thing is I made the comparison before I ever visited his website.

Anyway, I definitely recommend this book to any fan of King, Laymon or McCammon. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because I reserve that rating for only the very best like King's The Stand and McCammon's Swan Song.

                            5 out of 5 stars Great Book.......2003-04-24

Once I picked up the book, I couldn't put it down. It had everything; suspense, drama, comedy, etc... My favorite part was the friendship between Nick and Trevor. Only in childhood can friends be so loyal to eachother through thick and thin. The characters and story were very believable and for once, I didn't know the outcome of the mystery until the end of the book. I can't wait to read more by this very talented writer.

                              Product Description

One Touch of the Divine Scepter launches its reader on a life altering journey. The trip offers numerous compelling self-help tips. Anyone choosing to embark on this journey will be empowered. The author, Winsome Robinson, skillfully examines the essences of the two main characters; Queen Esther (a Jew) and herself, Winsome (an outcast). The Divine Scepter illustrates God's Providence in these women's lives. It is clear that the God that acted on Esther's behalf over two thousand years ago continues to do the same in today's contemporary age. God chose a woman to ultimately rescue the Jews and He struck right at the heart of Persia. As a result, the king of Persia married Esther, handed her his scepter and her life was transformed. The same God stood by Winsome Robinson. He sustained her through vicious childhood abuse, a teenage pregnancy, complete rejection from her family and the annihilation of her self-esteem. We are being implored by God to arise from the ashes of our afflictions. He desires to strengthen and commission us to walk into our destiny. The longer we procrastinate, the more ineffective we become. God is stretching out His Divine Scepter to us....it only takes ' One Touch'. Get up, step, reach out and touch. Then watch how you will elevate into your True destiny.

From the supplier: Ernest Hemingway's first professionally published work, 'A Divine Gesture,' is a complicated parody of the avant-garde instead of the mere juvenile exercise critics have assumed. Hemingway uses elements of cubist art, the dadaist writing techniques of Sherwood Anderson and Gertrude Stein, and the dream theories of Havelock Ellis to construct a symbolic fable that pokes fun at the modern art and literature of the early 1920s. 'A Divine Gesture' also merits interest as an early example of Hemingway's rapidly maturing characteristic style.
