The high school required the purchase of this book for the AP Chemistry class. I was pleased it was so easily accessible and used copies were available. The school year just began, I am sure it must be a good source of help for the students since the teacher is requiring it at the beginning of the year.
Great review book.......2007-07-27
This book covers almost all topics you'll see on the actual test. And it really helps if you need an overall review just before the test.
However, it didn't cover much on the Organic and Nuclear chemistry. Well, even though these two topics are not emphasized(about 5 MC), you really need to go over them if you really want a 5 on the test.
And, do every question(including the free response questions).
Be confident, the actual test will be easier than you have thought.

The book was written in - in PEN! All the answers ! It made for a waste of time and money to get a book you could not use as a study tool.
A Very Concise Review Book.......2007-05-23
This review book has been really helpful in preparaing me for the AP Chem exam. Unlike other review books, this book does not include a whole lot of review information. This is good because when you review, too much conceptual reviews can actually hinder the review process, something that Baron review books tend to do very much. In addition, the problems on the back of every section are very useful, although it's actually a little harder than the actual problems on the exam. Overall, this book has been very helpful.

This book is an excellent review source for the AP Chemistry exam. I was very satisfied with the material. The only problem noted was that the free response section of the review is not in the current format of the test. The material, however, is relevant. Would highly recommend this book!

Book Description
Mössbauer Spectroscopy of Environmental Materials and their Industrial Utilization provides a description of the properties of materials formed on the earth's surface, their synthetic analogs where applicable, and the products of their modifications in the course of natural processes, such as weathering, or in industrial processing as reflected in their Mössbauer spectra. Particular emphasis is placed on the way in which these processes can be observed and elucidated through the use of Mössbauer spectroscopy.
The first chapter covers the basic theory of the Mössbauer effect and Chapters 2 and 3 deal with the nuts and bolts of experimental Mössbauer spectroscopy. The principles of these first three chapters, illustrated with many case studies, are applied to different areas of interest in Chapters 4 through 12.
The book is directed to a broad audience ranging from graduate students in environmental sciences or chemical engineering with little or no expertise in Mössbauer spectroscopy to researchers from other disciplines who are familiar with this technique but wish to learn more about possible applications to environmental materials and issues.

Mössbauer spectroscopy is uniquely able to probe hyperfine interactions by looking at the short-range order of resonant atoms. Materials containing an appropriate isotope as one of their constituent atoms, such as iron or tin, are readily investigated. But even materials that do not contain Mössbauer-active atoms can be investigated if the probe atoms are incorporated in minor quantities (ca. 0.1 at.-%) to act as molecular-level indicators.
These 35 papers collected here represent a state-of-the-art description of Mössbauer spectroscopy techniques applied to advanced materials. The topics covered comprise investigations of nanomaterials, nanoparticles, and quasicrystals, artificially structured materials as well as applications of Mössbauer spectroscopy in chemistry, mineralogy and metallurgy. The main aim of is the dissemination of information on research and recent developments of the method in materials science as obtained in leading Mössbauer laboratories.

I found Mr. Cochran's collection of short stories to be one of the funniest and truly the most original book I've ever read. I laughed out loud every time I turned the page and I was depressed when I finished it.
If you "get him" you'll be inspired by Mr. Cochran's unique sense of humor and bizarre understanding of society and his place in it. If you don't, you're probably offended and should continue watching "American Idol."
It's all there in the title---Disturbed.
I eagerly await a second edition or follow-up book, although this one will remain on my bookshelf forever.

This book may not change the world, but it could. The author has written a strange, but very funny little book. The book consists of probably 75 one or two page stories. The stories are a little like Jack Handy's, only a little more twisted. I thought Disturbed Writings was a great book and a fun read.
