Best book on the topic; get 2001 revised edition.......2002-02-18

To begin with, although the Amazon.com screen shows the 1992 edition published by Parnassus Imprints, that edition is no longer available, and Parnassus Imprints no longer has anything to do with Oldale's book; it is now sold in a completely revised and greatly improved edition, published in 2001 by On Cape Publications. If you want this book, you want the new edition.

There are three easily available books aimed at the general reader (rather than professional geologists) on the geology of Cape Cod; two of the three, including this one, also discuss Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. In my opinion, this one, by Robert N. Oldale, is by far the best of the three, although the other two are also worth reading by anyone seriously interested in the subject. Oldale has spent his long career with the US Geological Survey, and much of it has been devoted to research on the soils, geology, and geological history of Cape Cod and the Islands. As a result, he knows more about the subject than anyone else I know or know of. In this book he writes very clearly, for the general reader, and covers the subject thoroughly and with scrupulous accuracy. His discussion is clarified and improved by a large number of apt photographs, figures and sketch maps, most of which are new in this 2001 edition. I love this book.

The geology of Cape Cod is astonishingly complex for a spit of land that seems so simple. It would have been impossible for Oldale to describe all the details in a book of reasonable length. So for the seriously interested reader, the numerous references to other books, maps and monographs, in Appendices A, C, D and F are invaluable. Unfortunately, although most of the material referred to is easy to come by, some of it is not. In particular, the map which underlies Oldale's book (also largely prepared by Oldale) "Geologic Map of Cape Cod and the Islands, Massachusetts: U.S. Geological Survey Miscellaneous Investigations Series Map I-1763" can be hard to find. But it can be bought by mail at a very modest price from the Geology Department of the University of Massachusetts. I recommend that anyone who plans to read more than one book on the geology of Cape Cod, or who intends to re-read Oldale's book, get this map. It illustrates admirirably many of the points made by Oldale in the book, and in addition contains a wealth of detail that supplements the book (but which might be hard for a non-professional to comprehend before reading the book.) The book and the map together provide wonderful coverage of a fascinating subject.

I found this book gave me a deep understanding of all the steps that he describes. He prefers to describe a few technics and ideas, but they are of a profound value and he elaborates a lot about it so you have a very deep understanding of it. I would say it is definitely for BEGINNER to INTERMEDIATE level of expertise... , but it is the BEST to have!

I almost stopped reading this book twice, very disappointed not a good read what so ever. He kept going over the same things numerous times, the book was way way to long, for what i feel he had to share. He went into psychological issues and got wat to technical and drawn out. Wish i could get my money back.

This is one of the better books on dating. Michael Pilinski speaks directly to the social coward. Never have I read a dating book that speaks squarely to its intended audience. He only mentions problems the social coward is likely to experience (nervousness, anxiety, self consciousness), defines it, and destroys that belief system. The beauty of the book comes from Michael Pilinski's empathy for the social coward, as he claims to have been one himself. This book deals with the issues preventing shy men from dating, so you won't find too much on the opposite sex.

The book is a total waste. The authors just wanted your money so they wrote down the first 500 lines they could think of. The vast majority of these lines will make you look like an asshole. For example: "I have nine inches. I can make you very happy." The book makes heavy use of black lingo. Most white or asian women would be insulted. For example: "Can I have the number to your ass so I can make a booty call?" Here's another insult: "Damn, you got some big legs, girl. Can I get between them?" Never, never buy this book.

While I am a big fan of his website and stories, the stuff in this book is pure crap. Half of "his" lines are old lines I have heard used a dozen times. A couple of them are adaptations of jokes that are from the 2nd grade -- and weren't even funny then. Personally I think this is very out of character for Tucker. A real letdown.

It's not that this guy isn't original, although he's not. (His act has not only been done by better writers, it's been done by every drunken idiot you hung out with in college.) It's that he's not even particularly clever.

Seriously - buy yourself a copy of "Animal House" instead... at least that was original (at the time) and well written. Then, with your change, go out & get really wasted, and tell your friends about it. It worked for me - and we laughed and laughed and laughed.

Pick-up lines are to be ice breakers for the catalyst of genuine interest. I found this book to have serious and useful information as well as intentional entertainment. Light-hearted suggestions combined with practical application, 101 of the world's most effective pick-up Lines hit the spot. Better than any other pick-up line book I have ever seen, not that I have looked at many, I really feel right about giving this book a five star review. From the last chapter that shows specifical detail to constructing a paper rose from a bar napkin, to the pick-up lines and tips on the Ultimate Date chapters, I was enlightened! Check it out if you have a fun sense of humor and a want a laugh with simple advice.
