Customer Reviews:
Flash cards for the biologically impaired.......2007-08-02
These flash cards are a great study tool for students in AP biology. The questions are worded in a similar fashion to exam questions. Although illustrations would be nice as a bulk of the questions requires students extrapolate information from diagrams, it is still an extremely useful study tool. I do recommend it to my students each year.
More illustrations might be helpful.......2007-06-27
Over 500 cards are present in this big box of cards, and the content is given at the back of the cards. However, I had to use rubber bands to sort out all of the cards by topic (they should have given tabs for the cards), and I would have learned and reviewed everything a lot faster if there are more illustrations and diagrams. Overall, still very good, but not the best. Barron's could have done better.
AP Biology Flash Cards.......2007-05-12
This is really helpful as a study aide! It worth the buy. The cards are really detailed and some of them even have really good diagram/pictures that describe the structures of various things. It's really helpful, especially if you've got a study buddy!

Customer Reviews:
Great for quick studying .......2007-07-08
This book was a great help in addition to my text book in Biology. It helps to compact information so I was able to pick out only the facts. This is a great tool for people who are trying to CLEP their Biology.
Very helpful........2007-01-16
I used this book to help me prepare for the PRAXIS II content knowledge test in biology (it's one of those awful standardized tests). It was generally very good at covering all of the topics necessary in a concise and easy-to-understand manner. There were occasions when I was less impressed by the way in which a topic was explained or laid out, but it is definitely a good supplement or review for someone who has other sources for learning or re-learning the material. (My main gripe was with photosynthesis.) But for a 200 page book on the vast topic of biology, it certainly did its job, and helped me pass my test.
good .......2005-09-02
The book was what I needed but I later had to find more information to complete my work. Overall the book was fine. The service, well it took forever to get here, but okay.
Great reference for college bio.......2004-08-15
This book is definitely written in a reader friendly manner. It's nice and brief. It gets right to the point without having to read the same passage over and over again. I also recommend:

(Volume 1: isbn 1933023007)
(Volume 2: isbn 1933023015)
(Volume 3: isbn 1933023023)
These three study guides helped me to get excellent grades. They had the kind of questions that I got on my college biology tests. The Biology Cliff Notes made biology learning a lot faster.
Good supplement.......2003-08-31
This is a good supplement for those taking a biology class. Explains things in a nice, condensed version. Reinforces knowledge in an easy, concise manner.
Recommend to parents helping their children with their high school biology class.

Book Description
Hardbound. This volume provides global estimates of wind and wave conditions and is based on data from the GEOSAT satellite. Parameters such as monthly values of wind speed and wave heights are presented as contour fields in global and regional charts. Variations in wind and wave parameters are also shown along common shipping routes and lines of latitude and longitude.
The Atlas includes a useful reference text, providing an introduction to global meteorology and the processes responsible for the generation of ocean waves. In addition, information relating to the GEOSAT mission, data preparation and validation, and wind/wave statistics provide a full summary of the background to this major new publication.
Global estimates of wind and wave conditions are required for activities such as engineering design, oceanographic and meteorological studies, ship routing and recreational activities. This publication will appeal to a wide range of readers from
Book Description
Nanoelectronics provides an accessible introduction for prospective and practicing electronic engineers, computer scientists and physicists. The overview covers all aspects from underlying technologies to circuits and systems. The challenge of nanoelectronics is not only to manufacture minute structures but also to develop innovative systems for effective integration of the billions of devices. On the system level, various architectures are presented and important features of systems, such as design strategies, processing power, and reliability are discussed. Many specific technologies are presented, including molecular devices, quantum electronic devices, resonant tunnelling devices, single electron devices, superconducting devices, and even devices for DNA and quantum computing. The book also compares these devices with current silicon technologies and discusses limits of electronics and the future of nanosystems.
Customer Reviews:
reasonable extrapolations of new systems.......2006-03-16
Goser provides an interdisciplinary foray into nanosystems. Ideally, if your background is materials science, engineering or physics, you can pick up some ideas from the text. The physics details are not too abstruse to turn away an engineering reader.
Many of the designs described involve quantum mechanical effects. Quantum wires and dots, for example, that might have novel uses. Attention is also paid to how the new systems might be made. Not just as research efforts, but as practical outputs of a fab.
There is speculation about future systems, as indeed you would expect. But commendably restrained. The extrapolations seem reasonable, given our current abilities.

Book Description
Recent advances in scanning-probe technology, in optical technology (optical "tweezers"), and in solution-phase chemistry now enable us to manipulate individual atoms and molecules. It is thus becoming possible not only to build machines at the scale of integrated electronic circuits and circuits with "wires" no thicker than an atom, but also to manipulate biological tissues and materials at the scale of individual cells, organelles, and even molecules. The implications of this technology are profound: for computer technology, for electromechanical sensors and actuators, for materials science and manufacturing, and for biomedical engineering.||The molecular machines of living organisms provide the paradigm for the discussion in this text. It thus emphasizes chemical physics, particularly solution-phase chemistry, as a basis for understanding the assembly of molecular machines. In addition, the book discusses the proximity-probe methods and bioengineering associated with understanding and designing devices at nanometer scales.||"Molecular Nantechnology " will be of interest to physicists, chemists, materials scientists, biological physicists, computer scientists, and manufacturing engineers.||From the reviews:||¿[Provides] an intuitive, scientific framework for understanding nanoscale systems . . . Rietman had organized the book around his precept that ¿solution-phase chemistry and protein engineering will bootstrap us into the first phase of nanotechnology.¿ . . . Useful for those who might need a basic introduction to some of the important issues in nanotechnology and the influence of the chemical and biological science on the nanotechnology revolution . . . Those seeking a qualitative picture of nanoscale systems engineering will find it a useful reference.¿|-Physics Today

Book Description
A compendium of novel information on molecular-scale science and the application of nanocarbon, nanosilicon and biopolymer integrated nanosystems. During the 20th century, molecular-scale science and nanotechnology developed rapidly, leading to the construction of innovative materials - nanosystens from molecules (fullerenes), supramolecules (nanotubes, peapods, polymers, biopolymers (DNA, protein and their complexes) and semiconductor nanoparticles (nano-Si, SiOx, Si/SiGe dots, metal nanowires). This book presents exciting new developments of the early 21st century. Significant progress has been made in nanotechnology of building blocks for integrated nanosystems, single and assembled molecules, nanoparticles characterisation, and multifunctional applications of nanosystems. The realisation and the application of novel multifunctional nanosystems in electronics, optics, biomedicine (nano-bioelectronic devices based on DNA and proteins, silicon nanocrystal memory devices, monolithically integrated silicon photonics, nanocapsules, biosensor nanosystems) are described by well known experts. This multi-disciplinary, scientific display of cutting-edge research across the entire spectrum of nanoscience and nanotechnology of inorganic, and organic systems, as well as systems for electronics photonics, and spintronics demonstrates that researching nanocarbon, nanosilicon, biomolecular integrated nanosystems, and developing their new applications, is a complex and exiting topic that will continue to attract scientists and engineers for many years to come.

Book Description
General routes to the development of innovative, multi functional nanosystems are described by experts in the field. The systems described are based on fullerenes, nanotubes, metals (Au, Ag, Pt, etc.) and semiconductors (Si, CdS, CdTe, metal oxides), nanocrystals and polymer / biopolymer assembly systems. The book also discusses the realization and characterization of the fundamental properties of nanosystems, defined by nano-size effects, as well as the application of such systems in electronics, optics, magnetoelectronics, spintronics, biomedicine, pharmaceutical biocomplexes, and biosensors.
Book Description
West Of The Equator is a satirical account of one man's spiritual journey, as told by his spirit guide, Ian - a well seasoned West Indian merchant sailor who narrates the story of a Chicago stock trader who goes to the West Indies and buys a 75' catamaran to set out in search of Paradise. Instead, he finds a female captain who turns out to be the love of his life, chaos, mayhem, and eventually true happiness - only after he faces unbelievable trials and is stripped of everything he owns along the journey. In this humbled state, he discovers that he is in fact the island, his life the vessel, and that everything he'd every truly needed had been aboard all along. It is a very funny satirical look at life in Paradise and the Zen of sailing.
Customer Reviews:
A rollicking ride!.......2006-05-16
Cheryl Bartlam Dubois uses her own experience as a charter captain in the Caribbean to spin a sensational seafaring yarn that chronicles a journey through stormy seas of self-realization, relationships and higher planes of existence. But just when you think you might be in danger of drowning in nautical terms and maybe too much universal law, she slaps you upside the head like a rogue wave with some side-splitting comedy that will have you howling out loud. This is an enlightening and entertaining read that reaffirms the truth that paradise is not a place but a state of mind. With the right casting and direction, this tale would make a wonderful movie.
