Description:
In the development of ecosystem-based fisheries management, the assessment of ecosystem status is a key element. There are many indicators that can be used to assess the status of an ecosystem that are representative of key ecosystem processes and properties. Yet, of the several hundred indicators available to evaluate marine ecosystems, which are the best to use? We evaluated multiple biotic indicators from the Northeast U.S. large marine ecosystem (LME) to determine their potential utility in assessing ecosystem status, with a particular emphasis on the fish community and fishing pressure. For those 26 indicators which met our selection criteria, we executed a multivariate ordination to evaluate how indicators group together rank in terms of explanatory power, and are weighted relative to one another. The ordination procedure also revealed indicator redundancies. We recommend a set of eight candidate indicators for routine monitoring that are both representative of major processes and sensitive to fishing-related ecosystem changes. Finally, we briefly explore the role these indicators might have in ecosystem-based fishery management.

An invitation to a country house party at Beaumont Castle provides a perfect solution to Tobias and Lavinia’s most exasperating challenge: how to escape the chaos of London for a remote, relaxing--and above all romantic--retreat from prying eyes and wagging tongues. But the lovers’ plans are foiled when their first cozy interlude of the weekend is disrupted by the appearance of a stunning woman from Tobias’s past. Aspasia Gray’s beauty is as haunting as her connection to Tobias. Her long-deceased fiancé was a friend of his--in addition to being an eccentric assassin. The mysterious nature of the bond between Tobias and Aspasia makes Lavinia more than a little uncomfortable. Especially as her first encounter with Aspasia occurs when she finds her in Tobias’s bedchamber...
It seems Aspasia is seeking protection--and solace--after receiving an ominous message that eerily recalls the past. Suddenly the obstacles standing betweenTobias and Lavinia appear greater than just a little London gossip--and far more deadly. When events at the castle suggest someone is imitating the dead killer’s methods, the team of Lake and March fervently pursue the investigation--and each other--as their leads take them from Society’s most elegant haunts--and most discreet hideaways--to London’s shadiest backstreets. As their relationship heats up, so does the intrigue. Soon Lavinia will have to employ all her talents to flummox the scoundrel who so rudely interrupted her rendezvous. And then she and Tobias can get back to more pleasurable affairs.

Just an entertaining read.......2007-10-03
I have read several of Amanda Quick's previous books in this series and I thought they were easy reads. I was hoping this book would be a super mystery but it really didn't unfold to rate a super read. I'd say it was a entertaining story, but weak in the plot and the characters were one dimensional. The dialog between the characters was pretty close to being boring. So, all in all this is not a terrible book, just a nice, easy story to read in bed before the lights go out. I'm still a fan of Amanda and I'll probably check out her latest books
BOOOOOOOO.......2007-06-19
I happened across this author and loved the first book I read. It was so great that I went to the library and checked out six of her other books. Big mistake! Let me give anyone who cares a tip- if you have read one of her books, you've pretty much read them all. With each new book I read, I just knew there would be a new story at some point. Never happened! This particular book had me wicked mad by page 25. "Nah honey, that hot chick wasn't coming onto me. She was just in my room at night and hugged me. And oh yeah...she's rich too. Sorry hun." Tobias made me want to throw up! BIG no-no for the leading man (who is basically a private detective by the way) not to notice when a woman is manipulating him and hurting the people he loves. This behavior is expected from guys that are looking to get some on the side, not a guy that is crazy about one girl. My suggestion for improving the book is having Tobias be the one that flies off the roof! If you paid actually money for this book, you got hosed!
Another great adventure for Lavinia and Tobias.......2007-06-15
I loved this book as much as the other two Lake and March mysteries. They're just a great team! I would gladly read many more of their stories. They're clever and funny and very romantic. I never get tired of them or the currant tarts. I think any of their stories (or any of Amanda Quick's books for that matter) should be a movie. I'd love to see this on the big screen; would be absolutely wonderful for true romantics.
Amazon, com needs to offer zero stars.......2007-04-18
Tobias March and Lavinia Lake are spending the weekend at a country house party when Lavinia see a have been the last person to see an Lord alive before he is pushed off roof. So starts their looking in the murder. Was it a ramdom event or could it been for a more evil purpose?
"Late to the Wedding" is the lastest book that I have read by Amanda Quick and I have to say that I am happy that I only paid a quarter for it. With each book I read Ms. Quick seems to get worse. These Characters lack the charm of earlier books and the only reason that I even read it was it happen to be in my bag and there was nothing else to do.
Thoroughly Enjoyable.......2007-02-09
This was the first of this series that I read. I really enjoyed the mystery and the strong female lead character. It was an exciting love story. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys historical romance.
Book Description
Amanda is the kind of girl you love to hate: rich, thin, blonde, and vicious enough to be Satan's own PR agent. Melanie and Fran, Amanda's charming, wisecracking old school friends, simply can't believe it when Amanda manages to get herself engaged to kind, decent Fraser-Mel's old crush, and minor royalty, no less. Determined to save Fraser from a life sentence with the social-climbing Queen of Preen, Mel and Fran rally their eccentric crew of friends around them to help stop Fraser and Amanda from tying the knot with a rope that all but Fraser can see is a noose. Loaded with spot-on observations, razor-sharp wit, and entertaining characters who engage in hilariously memorable antics, this is a riotously funny story of love, life...and the fine art of sabotage.
Download Description
Melanie and Fran are two charmingly wisecracking young Londoners who simply can't believe it when their old schoolfriend Amanda, Satan's own PR agent, manages to get herself hitched to a laird (Scottish for lord). Who cares that Fraser McConnel has worn the same ratty Converse sneakers for years and that his castle is really a pile of rubble--all the social-climbing queen of preen cares about is the title she'll soon have. She's got Fraser by the nuptials, and she has no intention of letting go. Gentle, decent Fraser is completely innocent of Amanda's wiles, so Mel and Fran, still smarting from Amanda's evil misdeeds years ago in school, join forces with Fraser's adorable younger brother, Angus, to sabotage the mismatch of the century. Between fighting off the attentions of a love-crazed accountant, dealing with a ne'er-do-well rock star wannabe boyfriend, keeping Fran's deadly maneuvers with the opposite sex under control, finding herself at the heart of a bachelor party controversy, consuming large quantities of alcohol, and throwing out hysterical barbs that would make Oscar Wilde proud, Mel will break some hearts and win over those of readers everywhere all of whom are certain to enjoy the mayhem and hilarious mishaps that make Amanda's Wedding so irresistible.

This book was just fun! It was not a "classic" just light and entertaining. Loved it!
Best of Class.......2006-08-19
It may be because of the on-target reading by Tanya Eby, but I found this book the best of the Bridget Jones, British slacker youth novels, including BJ herself. While I understand the attraction of wish-fulfillment fantasy, the disparity between the heroine and the hero she ultimately acquires makes King Midas and the Beggar Girl seem equal. We learn to love the heroines and wish them well, but frequently, we wonder what the perfect (rich, handsome and charming) hero sees in her. The liveliness of the narrator, Mel, makes us glad when she finds her imperfect hero. References to English popular culture may be a barrier for some American readers, however.
Nasty, superficial, and shallow (and those are the high points).......2006-05-08
Good lord, I fear for the author's female friends! If this is her idea of what female friendships are like, then, well, she's unable to get along with half the human race. If she's making this up for dramatic effect, then I wonder why so many chick-lit authors need to make their characters so catty. Either way, I don't need this kind of absurd b.s.
Melanie lies a lot; she slacks off at her job, which of course, she hates; she's got ridiculous taste in men, and she seems to despise most if not all of her female friends. I disagree that she's a wimp, though. She's a class-A mooch who sponges off Linda, who of course deserves it because she's fat and has a moustache, and not much of a social life. Melanie is also one of those "I-refuse-to-work-at-work" employees who should have been fired a long time ago. So she's not a wimp; she's a nasty jerk who takes advantage of people whenever she can and in turn, allows her boyfriend and "friend" Amanda to take advantage of her.
Ick. Why are chick-lit characters so often nasty, superficial, and shallow? I get tired of the negativity and the women who, it seems, did not mature past an elementary-school level. I'd advise skipping this one.
The ultimate revenge scenario for the class tyrant.......2005-05-12
Melanie has been pals with Fran and Amanda since grade school. Now all grown up, Mel is a bit of a doormat; Fran is a slam hound; and Amanda is still a conniving back-stabber. Amanda was always pretty mean to the two of them, particularly after her father struck it rich from an invention and whisked the family to green pastures, and now sees herself as much more "posh" than her former pals, but nevertheless likes to brag and make them feel small.
Mel has always been a bit of a pushover. She hates her job, does not really care for her roommate, manages to have casual sex with a guy she thinks is creepy, and is lonely since the supposed love of her life (Alex, a would-be rocker), deserted her without word to find himself in America. Alex suddenly returns and wants to resume the relationship. Or does he just want a place to hang his hat?
When Amanda announces that she is engaged to Fraser (who also happens to be the man that Mel had an unrequited crush on in college) so that she can attain a title and a crumbling castle, Fran and Mel band together with Fraser's brother Angus to throw a wrench in the nuptials to keep Amanda from getting yet another thing handed to her on a silver plate.
While planning their diabolical scheme, Mel is betrayed by those she thought were closest to her and summons the courage to stand up for herself. Several potential beaus are tossed around (including Alex, Angus, Fraser, co-worker Steve, and Nick, the tallest accountant in the world), but you'll have to wait until the end to find out who she walks off into the sunset with.
It is a really engaging story about love and friendship and choosing to trust and believe in both. Of course these Londoners drink so much, you might just get a contact high from all the whiskey and wine! But it is a great story - I found it hard to put down!
Cute story.......2005-01-26
This was a really cute story, with characters you could like. Colgan does a great job of making us root for the main character even as she loves someone else's fiance. There are silly situations that are laugh out loud, and yet this book was never dumbed-down. If you're looking for a quick, funny, enjoyable read, I'd recommend Amanda's Wedding hands down.

Great read.......2007-10-03
I was looking for something to read on a 5 hour flight to CA. A friend recommended this book to me. I'm so glad she did. The book is laugh out loud funny. (litterally, I was laughing out loud on the plane).
The enitre wedding descriptions were hysterical.
Each new school is an adventure in itself.
The whole book was great. It kept my attention (which is hard to do). I finally finished it on my return from CA. I couldn't wait to find out what happened.
I definitely recommend this.
Disappointing...much more Elle than Eva.......2007-08-17
Janice Weber's first books, "The Secret Life of Eva Hathaway" and "Customs Violations", are two of my all-time favorite reads. I was thrilled to see her getting back to this genre after the recent run of mysteries.
However, this book isn't any where near the same caliber. The first quarter of the book is almost unreadable, full of stock characters from Bad Sitcom 101. It focuses mostly on Thayne, the main character's insufferable mother, and aside from a few amusing quips, is one big predictable yawn.
Things pick up a little as Pippa finally takes center stage and enrolls in a few different schools. By far, the best part of the book is her internship with the quirky Russian circus. It's the most original -- and therefore unexpected-- piece of the story. Everything else, including the romance with the valet, is pretty mundane. A lot of scenes seemed forced, like the situations were created just to showcase a clever one-liner. It was also strange that the catalyst for Pippa's "getaway" to the big job in Las Vegas is completely out of left field. Her best friend, Ginny, does something totally uncharacteristic out of the blue, and it's never explained.
All in all, the stereotypical characters are not flushed out enough, so it's difficult to become invested in what happens to them. I normally hate coming to the end of a Janice Weber book, but in these last few chapters, I did a lot of skimming vs. reading, just to get it over with. This book has none of Eva's sauciness, or the multi-layered, richly drawn characters, sharp dialogue, smart-aleck social commentary, and intriguing plots of Weber's other books. I haven't read anything of Amanda Brown's, although I did see the Legally Blonde movie. This book strikes me as "Elle Woods Gets Married in Texas", which isn't necessarily a bad thing, except in comparison to the expectation set by her co-author's gifts.
This book seems to have been written specifically so it can be made into a 90-minute Oxygen movie. (Whereas "Eva" or "Customs" would have to be multi-night Mini-Series Events in order to fully capture all the charms of those stories!) Overall, it's not a total waste of time, if you're in the mood for a cutesy piece of fluff with a few giggles thrown in. Still, I'd rather re-read "Eva" for the 80th time...
A Hilarious Fun Read!.......2007-07-03
School of Fortune is such a cute and funny story. I have never before been so tickled with a book . With each new school that Pippa Walker attends comes amazingly witty encounters with some amusing characters. If you are looking for a laugh, this book will definitely give it to you!

A Perfect Tie-Up to the 'We Do' Episode.......2005-09-27
Accoring to someone on here it takes place in the eight season of 7th Heaven. But we are transported back to the 7th season. This was an excellent book the wedding was the best part after that it seemed to drag on. It's even better if you've seen the episode because then you you get a more visual picture of what is happening. Well done!
The 7th Heaven Serious ( Wedding Memories ).......2005-08-12
" Wedding Memories " This was an excellent book to start reading. It being my first 7th heaven story to have purcased and read was the right choice. Lucy Camden became atad overdone, but i could still not put the book down. There was something about Amanda Christie's writing that just sucked me into the novel, and realted everything to the real world. The pressure of making a wedding the one of a lifetime, the best in the world, is not as easy as it seems. This book was not only ment for a younger audience, but an older audience aswell. The entire serious of 7th heaven books can relate to your own lifestyle, and is entertaining to a child because it is also an imaginary land where the world is perfect.Chocolate grows on trees, and it rains lolipops and gumballs. The serious can teach your child about historical documents and landmarks. And has touched such topics as, The Holocaust, Hate Crimes, Prejudice against Muslims, Drug use, Vandalism, The right to vote, Drinking and Driving, Teen Pregnancy and Homelessness. Aswell as the Book Serious, you can now purcase season 1 and season 2 of 7th Heaven on DVD and Video. I recommend these outstanding books and the television serious to anyone.

Book Description
Captured in 1388 in the act of stealing back his own cattle, young Sir William Scott faces hanging, then gets one other choice--to marry immediately his captor's eldest daughter, the lady Margaret Murray, known by all as Muckle-Mouth Meggie. With the line between England and Scotland shifting daily, the Earl of Douglas wants to win back every inch of Scotland that the English have claimed; whereas the equally powerful English Percies (under Hotspur) want to win back the land between Northumberland and Edinburgh; and the Murray family is caught in the middle, shifting its alliances to try to survive. Uncertain whether she is English or Scottish and abruptly married to Sir William who is staunchly loyal to the cause of Scottish independence but who also has promised he'll never take up arms against her family, Meg Murray learns two things: first, Will's word is his bond; second, her favorite brother is spying on Douglas for Hotspur. As Sir Will faces the dilemma of honoring his word to the unscrupulous Murray without betraying Douglas, Meg must choose between betraying the husband with whom she is rapidly falling in love, or betraying her own family and best-loved brother.
