Latent demand (in millions of U.S. dollars), or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.) estimates are given across some 1,100 cities in Greater China. For each major city in question, the percent share the city is of the region and of Greater China is reported. Each major city is defined as an area of “economic population”, as opposed to the demographic population within a legal geographic boundary. For many cities, the economic population is much larger that the population within the city limits; this is especially true for the cities of the Western regions. For the coastal regions, cities which are close to other major cities or which represent, by themselves, a high percent of the regional population, actual city-level population is closer to the economic population (e.g. in Beijing). Based on this “economic” definition of population, comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a city’s marketing and distribution value vis-à-vis others. This exercise is quite useful for persons setting up distribution centers or sales force strategies. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each region and city of influence, latent demand estimates are created for calcium channel blocker vasodilator pharmaceuticals. Better than nothing.......2006-07-04

....that's about what it was worth. It was helpful for some things that I didn't have a particularly good background in. However, you HAVE to have an earth science background to do well on the actual exam. Also, the sample questions are not at all similar to the ones on the exam. I have yet to receive my scores. So, this review is totally about how prepared I was for the exam. I found the Earth Science Regents Review book by Barron's and the practice guide provided by the testing agency to be the best. Also, you must read the basis for the exam. There are lots of questions on the test that are within the parameters presented there but not on any practice test that I took before the exam.

This report is a comprehensive and comprehensible overview of a very promising market. It details all the main players and gives prospects for one of the most exciting five year periods of the wide bandgap semiconductor market. By that I mean the semiconductor blue laser which will revolutionise solid-state VCRs in the next couple of years, plus the white LED for automotive illumination, handset backlights and maybe in the future in the household as a solid-state replacment for the fluorescent striplight.

In this second edition more coverage is given to the microelectronics market. The market is still likely to be dominated by optoelectronics devices like LEDs and lasers. Good progress is being made in diodes and transistors, even in integrated circuits, made from silicon carbide, the close relative of gallium nitride. The latter too has great promise for very high performance devices for handset basestations, satellite transmitters and even the solid-state magnetron in the home microwave oven.

The author has written other reports in this series - such as on GaAs and laser diodes - and is the founder of the premier magazine in the field, III-Vs Review.
