DNA viruses have always been the most important model systems for eukaryotic DNA replication. Add to this the clinical significance of these human pathogens- 99% of the population of the world is infected with at least one of the viruses discussed in this volume (hepatitis B virus, Eptstein Barr virus or herpes simplex virus) - and it is difficult to overstate the importance of this group. Helped me get an A in college physics.......2007-08-04

My school made us buy what is possibly the WORST textbook I have ever read (Physics by James S. Walker). It was like reading hieroglyphics. But the Schaum's book helped me keep my 4.0. This little book of # pages for $10 replaced a 1,248 page monstrosity (no joke) that cost $137! I never had to read one chapter of the Walker book because this little book helped me understand the concepts and do all the problems without wasting my time on gibberish. The best $10 you'll spend on a textbook.

Crusie may want to rethink collaboration.............2007-10-05

with Bob Mayer. He doesn't add anything to the intelligently funny, character driven, deftly plotted romantic novels she is known for, and frankly, her genre probably doesn't mix too well with the action adventure stories he is said to write. Actually, I couldn't find anything that read like normal Crusie in this book, so the collaboration is unclear to me.

As other reviewers have pointed out, Don't Look Down is disjointed, lumbering, with dull, largely unbelievable and poorly motivated characters, and an outlandish plot. The writing is repetitive, amateurish and at times downright irritating (italized inner thoughts appear with annoying regularity). After the first chapter or two, I skimmed the remainder, hoping something would catch my eye and make me want to actually READ this book. Never happened.

I've read and enjoyed most if not all of Crusie's books (Faking It, Bet Me, Fast Women, etc.) but if her future books are collaborations with Mr. Mayer, I believe I'll move on.

I am a big Jennifer Crusie fan, and tend to enjoy action/adventure novels, so was delighted to see she'd teamed up for a joint venture that combines romance with action.

However, after painfully making my way through this sodden mess, I have to say I am bitterly disappointed with the outcome. We got neither a good romance nor a believable, fast-paced action story. What we got was the worst of both writers -- perhaps there were territoriality tussles or they each agreed to edit the other's work -- I can just see it:

Jennifer: "Wait Bob, that's a coherent sentence! Here, let me rework it for you!"

Bob: "NO way can a character be both intelligent AND sexy -- here, let me dumb her down a bit for you."

I understand they've collaborated on a second book (an excerpt was included in this one), and it actually sounds a lot better. I'd suggest that you focus on Crusie's other excellent books, if you're looking for something smart, sassy, and well written.

I'm a BIG Crusie fan, let me just say from the start. While some early fans of her work did not care for this book or appreciate the path taken in the author's career, I really enjoyed the different style. The male and female points of view do contrast, but not jarringly so. The story has pace, some well drawn characters - I'm partial to Pepper and the Gator - and I enjoyed the action. The plus side, I "found" another author I really enjoy reading. I don't believe I'd have found Bob Mayer and his other pen names without this collaboration.

Perhaps I am biased because I had the opportunity to read the authors' dueling blog - He Wrote/She Wrote. Nevertheless, the collaboration between a romance novelist and an action-adventure/sci-fi writer held great appeal. Crusie's books get better and better with re-reads and I believe this story of how vastly different characters build themselves a "community" or family will only improve with age.

What is this?.......2007-08-06

I am not quite sure what Jenny and Bob were trying to make happen in this book. The chemistry between these two as writers, well, in my opinion is non-existent.
They attempt to be telling the same story but fail horribly.

J.T. Wilder is a stark, boring special forces character who was done no justice in terms of character developement. They were handed an opportunity to develop a rich character but rather reverted to a very....retarded, please forgive me the choice of words, boring, disengaging portrayal of a special forces man.

Lucy, by the same stroke, lacked Jenny's usual eccentricities and believability. She was as much of a two dimensional character as J.T.

I am a compulsive reader and this book took me two weeks to finish, when most take me a day or two.
It was slow and boring and the only thing that prompted me to finish it was my OCD.

I am shocked that these two have ANOTHER book coming out together and I must ask, are they both getting lazy as writers so they feel the need to write with other B-talent in hopes to divy up the work? Or perhaps they are running out of ideas and characters to write about and need to lean on another writer for assistance?
Perhaps, not writing at all is a better alternative than churning out this...kind of writing.

Forgive me for any harshness but I was very disappointed in the writing and now I feel slight pity for these two.

I definitely will not be contributing to the sales of anymore books written by these two together and/or apart, which is a sad thing since I had just discovered Jenny Crusie this summer and have already ready four of her books.
Such a shame and waste.

Never read Crusie before...........2007-07-17

I read the book without expectation and really enjoyed it. Lot's of characters and secrets revealed. Only now do I see what a departure it was for Crusie. I'm definitely on board for the next collaboration!

LOTS of Profanity.......2007-07-20

Romance purists should beware. This author seems to confuse modern romance with the need for excessive amounts of profane language. Apparently, it is not possible to be extremely wealthy, extremely gorgeous, and extremely attracted without being extremely filthy-mouthed. I don't happen to agree with that assessment [in fact, enjoyment of the romance dies for me], but the author does apparently believe it with all her heart. So, if you purchase any of her so-called 'contemporary' novels, be warned to endure dozens of "f"-words, etc. It appears the only way such people can be understood.

Sexy Romantic Thriller.......2007-07-18

This is the second in Enoch's new contemporary line. I'm enjoying the relationship between the main characters. The sex is hot and the dialogue is funny. What else could you want from a romance novel?

This the second book in the Sam and Rick series

In this book, Sam is trying stay good and lives with her Billionaire boyfriend Rick. When Sam decides to start a security business, her first customer ends being murder. Sam feels guilt that the customer try to get help from the night before he got murder so she deicide find out who killed him. Meanwhile Rick's ex-wife, Patricia, asks Rick to help her buy a new house and tries to convince Rick to get back together.

I love everything about this books expect the fact that at sometimes I think Sam just didn't stand to up Rick's ex-wife. Patricia is constantly dissing Sam even after Sam helps her out but still Sam helps out.

Great second in a series!!.......2007-06-19

Retired cat burglar Sam Jellicoe is trying to go straight for her billionaire boyfriend Rick Addison by opening up a security business. When her first client gets bumped off before she can find out why he needs her services, she decides to add murder investigation to her oeuvre of talents. She doesn't appreciate Rick's unsolicited business advice, and surrogate father Stoney keeps trying to get her to pull a million dollar caper in Venice, but Sam prevails and has to get closer to Rick's ex-wife in order to get close to the suspects. But Patricia appears to want Rick back, and at what cost to Sam?

Enoch's second adventure with Sam and Rick still has the breezy and charismatic couple trading hysterical barbs in quest for one-upmanship of their relationship. They make great foils for each other, with plenty of sensual play. Like many movies sequels tend to not live up to their predecessor's; kudos to Enoch for maintaining the same quality of writing from book to book.

Great love story.......2006-04-18

I love Sam and Rick together! They remind me a little of Eve and Roarke (J.D. Robb's romantic couple). Sam is a bit like the tough cop that Eve is except that she isn't all legal about stuff and her upbringing, though not great, is WAY better than Eve's. And Sam is more up on literature and booklearning-type stuff than Eve. Richard is a lot like Roarke in that he's rich and strong and very capable and very in love. Unlike Roarke, Rick never was poor or on the wrong side of the law.

I loved reading this book. :)
