Book Description
With his visionary, colorful home furnishings, Danish designer Verner Panton sought ways to fashin a stylistically uniform, imaginative interior. His plastic Panton chair, a one-piece cantilevered design made in candy-apple colors, has been in production continuously since 1968, and its sinuous shape is recognizable to millions who have never heard the designer's name. By the early sixties, he had already helped establish a color spectrum that dominated home design until the mid seventies. This first comprehensive monogram on Panton's work also includes his "Phantasy Landscape," a foam rubber room of womb-like organic shapes designed for the Visiona II exhibition at the 1970 Cologne furniture fair. A must-have for lovers of late-twentieth century furniture and "interior landscape." Dimension: 9 x 12 inches, over 500 color reproductions, CD-ROM included.

An exceptional book about an exceptional designer!.......2001-07-07
This well documented book covers Verner Panton, the most remarkable innovative talent of 20th Century Design and Architecture. His design is searched for by collectors all over the world and fetch high prices at major auction houses. Verner Panton was an artist in the true sense of the word. He did not have the creative obstructions that adults get accustomed too when they grow up. Instead he created his own wonderland through the eyes of a child. His design was consistently brilliant, he created sensual shaped furniture in vibrant colors and even added sound and smell to his interior projects so one could become completely one with his surroundings. He was first to create inflatable furniture, pioneered with the much acclaimed single molded plastic chair and refused to accept gravity by creating the Flying Chair. Panton envisioned a colorful future. His career was highlighted by the Visiona Landscapes he created for Bayer AG in 1968 and 1970 that have now achieved cult status. This book is a profusely illustrated with hundreds of full color pictures that document his fairy tale interiors. It includes a nice timeline with all his creations which make it a necessity for every collector. The Definitive Guide for anyone with a young heart and a wild imagination. An excellent handbook for the serious practitioner.......2000-09-13
This book is excellent for the learner who is progressing from a beginners level to medium level competency. It covers the main areas of the subject with clarity and allows the reader to explore the complexities of the subject. I would recommend it to anyone who is commencing on the path to being an expert practitioner and also to the person who has some experience in the subject.

This new edition of the filmmaker's bible has been completely updated to reflect changes in every aspect of the moviemaking process.

Complete and then some.......2006-06-01
This book goes into fairly extensive detail on almost all aspects of film production. Production is a grey area to most and this book illuminates it quite well. It is a bit dry and long winded but is more than made up for by its excellent index and organization. It doesn't have to be a page turner if you can find the page you need. Buy it and use it as you need it (and you will need it)
Invaluable resource, a must-buy for all aspiring and experienced independent producers.......2006-02-17
I'm a writer-producer currently prepping my first independent film where I'm in the driver's seat. This book has been an invaluable resource for me along the way in terms of educating me on the industry and laying out all of the steps I need to take in order to pull off this project. I've read a number of other books on producing lately, and so far nothing else comes even close to this one. Completely comprehensive, from development to distribution.
Dov's book is better.......2006-02-07
If "From Reel to Deal, by Dov Simens, is Hollywood's top rated film how-to book then this book surely will take a close second.
Every indie filmmaker needs this book........2006-01-02
I couldn't have produced and written three feature-length independent movies without this book. Check out my latest, The Indie Pendant, to see what I mean. This book also helped me put together my radio show, The Indie Film Hour, coming to WorldTalkRadio.com in 2006. www.vdefilms.com
Great book, but needs to go in to a bit more detail.......2003-09-02
What can you expect from a single book about indy feature film production. It's a great introduction book, but for those aspiring producers and directors to be. You'll need to do some research on your own.
Book Description
Veteran camera assistant Doug Hart describes in this comprehensive technical guide all of the important facets and duties of the first and second camera assistants' jobs. Whether it is feature films, episodic television, documentaries, commercials, or music videos, The Camera Assistant: A Complete Professional Handbook explains both the practice and theory behind it with a concentration on technique rather than equipment. In addition, personal anecdotes from the author's years behind and beside the camera provide insight into this demanding field.
Key topics include film formats and aspect ratios, testing lenses and camera equipment, focus theory, film loading and labeling, scene blocking, marking actors, shooting tips, slating, paperwork, equipment maintenance, set etiquette, and finding work. This is not a camera equipment handbook; it is a comprehensive procedures manual which describes and explains the most important responsibilities of the camera assistant on the set, the theory behind the practice, and the methods that get the job done properly and keep the assistant frequently employed.
Douglas C. Hart has been a freelance first-camera assistant on feature films, documentaries, television shows, and commercials for more than 20 years, including 10 years (and 10 films) as first-camera assistant to Gordon Willis, ASC, as well as work in 42 states and 26 foreign countries. His work includes Presumed Innocent, Hannah and Her Sisters, The Cosby Mysteries, and CBS's Central Park West. He is a member and former president of the International Photographers Local 644, IATSE, and teaches the Camera Assistant Workshops at the International Film and Television Workshops in Rockport, Maine.
Details both the practice and the theory necessary to be a camera assistant.
Concentrates on technique, not equipment.
Serves as a comprehensive manual, which teaches the necessary methods to get the job done and stay employed.

Great starter book for AC's.......2006-06-12
Of the two major "textbooks" on ACing, this is the best one to start with. It gives enough information to initiate you into what is expected of all members of the camera crew, but is not overwhelming with technical info (not that you are not going to want that info someday, but if you are new, it can be confusing and even discouraging.) After this book, get David Elkin's Camera Assistant's Manual, which goes into much further detail. As you work with different cameras, download the manuals from the panavision/arri/aaton/etc websites so you can feel comfortable with the differences in individual cameras. Lastly, get a used copy of the very expensive American Cinematographer Manual for all the technical bits in one handy portable reference book. This, and tons of set experience, is probably all you need (and keep in mind some of the greatest cinematographers who ever lived worked without any of these aids). Rely on your eye!
The Camera Assistant - A Complete Pro Handbook (Hart).......2000-08-17
This is probably the best handbook for this discipline I've ever seen. I bought a copy when I was in the States three years ago - and it was swiped ! I plan to prescribe this book for my students from 2001 onwards. Well done !

The bible for operating camera personnel!.......1999-06-10
This book is a complete and highly insightful manual for motion picture camera assistants and operators. It covers the disciplines, techniques, skills and even the politics of the craft. For anyone involved or wanting a fabulous look into the workings of the film industry, buy this book!
This is the new Bible........1997-10-15
Compiled from years of teaching innumerable students at the International Film & Television Workshops in Rockport, ME, this book supercedes all previous texts on the subject. A former President of East Coast Camera Local 644, Hart writes in a manner as readable as it is thorough. Illustrations and appendices are completely useful. This is the new Bible for the working A.C. and anyone seeking to understand how the camera department really functions.

Excellent source...........2003-02-18
This book, along with the Producer's Handbook, is tied at the top of my list! It is filled with excellent information on everything film related. From pre-production to post, you will find details on every single point of production and development. It introduces the novice to the world of production starting with crew position definitions, and at the same time it goes over many aspects that concern the professional filmmakers (like budgeting, scheduling, finding and bringing together a crew, a set, etc...). There are a considerable amount of forms and contracts/agreements that every filmmaker should know about, etc. It is truely a MUST if you seriously want to know what you're doing when it comes to filmmaking! This book is an A + + +!!
