Signaling in the immune, endocrine (hormonal) and nervous systems is covered along with cancer, apoptosis and gene regulation.

The first two sections examine the structure and regulation of the main classes of adhesion molecules: integrins, selectins, and intercellular adhesion molecules (ICAMs). Subsequent sections describe the role of these molecules in postangioplasty reactions, ischemia-reperfusion injury, atherogenesis, other vascular disorders, metastasis, and immunologic and inflammatory responses such as asthma and transplant rejection.
