ASIN: 0766841138 |
Book Description
Anatomy and physiology, a key part of the core curriculum in surgical technology, is the central basic science course around which the knowledge of surgical technology revolves. However, most conventional A&P books do not cover the surgical aspects of anatomy and physiology that the Core Curriculum for Surgical Technology requires. Surgical Anatomy and Physiology for the Surgical Technologist provides the basic concepts of A&P and applies them to practical surgery. Throughout the book, examples show how the anatomy and physiology of a particular body system or organ relates to a surgical procedure. This resource includes case studies, review questions, key terms, objectives for each chapter, and information boxes that tie specific anatomical elements to surgical practice. This book meets the requirements of the current edition of the Core Curriculum for Surgical Technology.

The Nervous System and Sense Organs (Human Body Systems)
Julie McDowell Manufacturer: Greenwood Press ProductGroup: Book Binding: Hardcover ASIN: 0313324565 |
Book Description
Beginning with an exploration of nerve cells, this volume of the Encyclopedia of the Human Body discusses the parts of the central and peripheral nervous systems and how they work together in reflex responses and understanding sensory information. Major areas of the brain and the autonomic and peripheral nervous systems are covered. The five senses are discussed in relation to the nervous system. The history of the research on the nervous system is presented and the future of research in this field is considered. Current controversies and dilemmas of scientists performing this research are explored. Nervous system disorders, symptoms and treatments are explored, including multiple sclerosis and epilepsy. The reference concludes with information about maintaining a healthy nervous system, a comprehensive glossary, and resources for further information including Web sites and contact information for organizations and national health institutions. The set provides a complete, comprehensive reference source for students interested in the human body. Each book in the ten-volume set introduces and describes a specific body system, including the parts and function of each system, the history of discovery, related diseases and treatments, as well as possible future advances in research. Detailed illustrations and diagrams, including an eight-page color insert, provide a visual reference for written material.

The 2007-2012 Outlook for Pharmaceutical Preparations Affecting the Central Nervous System and Sense Organs in Greater China
Philip M. Parker Manufacturer: ICON Group International, Inc. ProductGroup: Book Binding: Paperback ASIN: 0497401991 Release Date: 2006-09-28 |
Book Description
This study covers the latent demand outlook for pharmaceutical preparations affecting the central nervous system and sense organs across the regions of Greater China, including provinces, autonomous regions (Guangxi, Nei Mongol, Ningxia, Xinjiang, Xizang - Tibet), municipalities (Beijing, Chongqing, Shanghai, and Tianjin), special administrative regions (Hong Kong and Macau), and Taiwan (all hereafter referred to as “regions”). Latent demand (in millions of U.S. dollars), or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.) estimates are given across some 1,100 cities in Greater China. For each major city in question, the percent share the city is of the region and of Greater China is reported. Each major city is defined as an area of “economic population”, as opposed to the demographic population within a legal geographic boundary. For many cities, the economic population is much larger that the population within the city limits; this is especially true for the cities of the Western regions. For the coastal regions, cities which are close to other major cities or which represent, by themselves, a high percent of the regional population, actual city-level population is closer to the economic population (e.g. in Beijing). Based on this “economic” definition of population, comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a city’s marketing and distribution value vis-à-vis others. This exercise is quite useful for persons setting up distribution centers or sales force strategies. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each region and city of influence, latent demand estimates are created for pharmaceutical preparations affecting the central nervous system and sense organs. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved.

The 2007-2012 Outlook for Pharmaceutical Preparations Affecting the Central Nervous System and Sense Organs in India
Philip M. Parker Manufacturer: ICON Group International, Inc. ProductGroup: Book Binding: Paperback ASIN: 0497490323 Release Date: 2006-09-28 |
Book Description
This study covers the latent demand outlook for pharmaceutical preparations affecting the central nervous system and sense organs across the states, union territories and cities of India. Latent demand (in millions of U.S. dollars), or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.) estimates are given across some 5,000 cities in India. For each city in question, the percent share the city is of it’s state or union territory and of India as a whole is reported. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a city vis-à-vis others. This statistical approach can prove very useful to distribution and/or sales force strategies. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each state or union territory and city, latent demand estimates are created for pharmaceutical preparations affecting the central nervous system and sense organs. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved.
