The remaining text provides an overview of the Blackfin processor, its programming, applications, and hands-on exercises for users. With all the practical examples given to expedite the learning development of Blackfin processors, the textbook doubles as a ready-to-use user's guide. The book is based on a step-by-step approach in which readers are first introduced to the DSP systems and concepts. Although, basic DSP concepts are introduced to allow easy referencing, readers are recommended to complete a basic course on "Signals and Systems" before attempting to use this book. This is also the first textbook that illustrates graphical programming for embedded processor using the latest LabVIEW Embedded Module for the ADI Blackfin Processors. A solutions manual is available for adopters of the book from the Wiley editorial department.

Stables to sheds, huts & houses. I wanted to build a small broom shed behind my 1850s house that would fit in. This book has inspired me...wish I had 3 acres to build ad hoc sheds, dog houses, meditation rooms, etc. Only picture among thousands I have NOT found is a 14th C hermit's shelter, but much that looks like they did. Inspiring for artists and builders...and much needed antidote to too-too-modernist-minimalist "perfect" spaces. Add variety, error, rusticity, and naturalness to your next space.

Stunning Book for Architects.......2004-01-23

Every architect should own this book. There is no other book like it. Be aware that most of the text is in Japanese, but It contains thousands of photos, as well as drawings, imaginative collages, and unique layout. It covers mostly small buildings - homes, barns, sheds, yurts, treehouses, tipis - and just about anything visual that caught the photographers' and editors' eyes. The layout is imaginative and stunning. The book makes the reader wonder how anyone could gather so much information, and then assemble it into a cohesive whole. In addition to architects, I'd recommend this book to builders, designers, artists, photographers, and anyone fascinated with the visual world. Unique and inspirational.

Explains the basics of computer graphics.......2002-06-11

This book was written in 1984 and explains how to create graphics using the BASIC programming language. For most computer users today, this is not helpful since many programs do the work for you. For computer enthusiasts who still tinker with the BASIC programming language, this could be helpful.

This book not only explains the basic routines needed to create the graphics, but it explains the mathematics involved and shows diagrams to help you visualize what you will be creating. Some of the ideas covered in this book are animation, analytic geometry, and three-dimensional graphics.

A good source for quick ideas.......2000-10-30

I like this book because it has ideas for quick projects and a lot of them you can do with kids at home or in a classroom. I didn't know that stencils are so easy to make with heavy plastic sheets and I've made stencils to decorate my bathrooms as well as gift wrapping paper. My kids can just tell me what kinds of rubber stamps they want and I cut them myself - a huge savings and one of a kind designs! I even made a portfolio carrier that I use to carry sheet music to classes and everybody loves it. I highly recommend this book for really easy and usable ideas.

Good book for the beginner.......2000-03-29

Being new to papermaking, I found this book to be a great starting point. It has a lot of really great photographs but is slightly lacking in photos and illustrations to accompany the instructions. On the positive side, it also includes some basic projects to make with your handmade paper.

The Beauty of Simplicity.......1998-07-29

This relatively modest book is nevertheless the single best work to have appeared on Matisse's great cut-outs (with the exception of a 1977 National Gallery of Art catalogue), which he made from 1947-1954. John Elderfield's essay discusses the genesis of the cut-outs, and places them in the context of 20th century art in an elegant manner which is refreshingly free of art-historical jargon. Elderfield's essay is followed by a section of color plates which, for the most part, are superbly designed and arranged. Matisse's delicious eye-candy is allowed to speak for itself. The reader is continually dazzled by the purity of color and simplicity of form, and the chronological arrangement of the plates seems to re-create the genesis of the works as they evolved in the artist's mind. However, the single problem I have with this otherwise nearly perfect book is that a number of the plates are far too small, particularly the illustration of the "Large Decoration With ! Masks," which reduces a 30-foot cut-out to the size of a postage stamp, neatly destroying any ability to imagine the beauty of the original work. Also, the color reproduction could be better - the plates, except in one particular print run I have come across, have an odd, bleached or washed-out look that lessens the impact of Matisse's colors. Nevertheless, I still recommend the book for its excellent design and writing. It is a marvelous introduction to the aesthetics behind some of the most simple yet beautiful works of 20th century art.
