Customer Reviews:
The most informative and entertaining book on this subject.......1998-09-03
It was to my great advantage to be spending the summer of 1992 in Lenox when I read this book, purchased from the local village. Carol Owens has provided a supurb look into the lives and lifestyles of the gilded aged super rich as well as an excellent portrayal of the architecture of the summer cottages of the Berkshires. Filled with historical facts and "twice-told tales", this book is a rare gem giving the reader a vivid and pictoral view point of life during this era among the social ellete and powerful industrial magnates. I was able to see many of the homes by using Owens' book as a tour guide. It was thoroughly fascinating! I even got a bit carried away when I decided to take an unauthorized tour of the massive (and deserted) 92 room Elm Court, once owned by Emily Vanderbilt Sloane White. The local police were less impressed with my venture. Lookout for the flowershop owner who works out of what used to be Elm Courts' carriage house--he is a real snitch. If you enjoy reading about the "400" and the gilded age or the architecture of this period, you must read this book. It is a real treasure!
Customer Reviews:
It's a good book but you'll need other books to round it out!.......2007-02-15
I've found this book to be very helpful as a reference but I recommend other books to round this book out such as Preston Blair's Cartoon Animation, Timing for Animation, and Osamu Tezuka's Animation Books(mainly if you're interested in doing anime style animation) This books does as one reviewer put it touches subjects briefly. Even so I found the tips on simplifying muscle groups and facial animation to be helpful. The artwork is more sophisticated than the dated Preston Blair book. This book even shows techniques such as the double take and character speed blurs. Overall this book is still useful but not without the other books I recommended.
A Fun Book for Anyone.......2000-09-01
I really enjoyed How to Draw Animation. It covered a wide range of topics from the basics, to creating your own characters, to making your characters walk and run, to the animation process. I think this book is a good guide to animation for anyone; whether it's just a hobby or a possible career interest. The book is brimming with beautiful illustrations and clear instructions. Anyone who loves animation should go out and buy this book.
WARNING: This Book is For The Little Kiddies.......2000-04-30
This book is not for people who are interested in becomingserious animators. The book seems to be geared towards children whoare interested in how animation works. So if you are a seriousanimation student I would have to warn you to stay clear of this book. However, this is a good book to give the little kiddies on how animation works. On the bases of it being a Childrens book about animation I would have to give it 5 stars. Since I am sort of an animator in training I would have to give it 2 stars for content. Why? You ask because the content is very brief and does not go into much detail. ...
Should be called: A Very Brief Introduction to Animation.......1999-12-09
I was extremely disappointed in this book. It has very little real content and the book only touches very briefly on many topics. The concepts contained in the book could have been written on 3 sheets of paper. My guess it is written for children to see some of the animation concepts
A great book that explains all areas of animation........1999-07-04
Christopher Hart greatly portrays the art of animation in this wonderful book. It helps begginers understand how to design your characters and what their standouts should be. He explains in great detail how to express your characters emotions through looks and actions. An interview with Roger Allers is included which gives young begginers great advice and encourangement on achieving their goals. This book is great for peoples who are looking to start a career in animation.

Book Description
By viewing the corporation as a communicator, Image Worlds links the histories of labor, business, consumption, engineering, and photography, providing a new perspective on one of the largest and most representative corporations. General Electric was one of the first modern industrial corporations to use photographs and other media resources to create images of itself; and the GE archives, comprising well over a million images, form one of the largest privately held collections in the world. To produce this venturesome book, David Nye has used these vast archives to develop a new approach to corporate ideology through corporate iconography.
Image Worlds embraces symbols, intentional signs, and photographs on the one hand and the history of institutional and technological development on the other. It views photography as a developing technology with a history of its own, and presents the corporation as a communicator as well as a producer and employer.
Illustrated with nearly 60 photographs from the archives, the book identifies five "image markets" that GE sought to organize and address. Company engineers, workers, and managers received publications designed to appeal to their presumed interests. Some of these grew into public journals with a scientific-educational mission; others were restricted in circulation even within the company. At the same time, illustrated mass-media advertising was created to reach potential consumers of GE products. Advertising that presented an image of GE as a place where "progress was the most important product." While GE was promoting this enlightened image, the company was also using its resources to reach the voting public, hoping to gain their support for private electrification in the national debate over municipal power.
David E. Nye is Associate Professor of American History at Odense University in Denmark.
Book Description
This microeconomics text is well known for using the Keynesian model in the teaching of economics; yet in recent editions, the authors have expanded coverage of the growth model considerably to achieve more balanced coverage. The text uses the aggregate supply/ aggregate demand model as a fundamental tool for learning macroeconomics. It achieves the right level of rigor and detail, presenting complicated concepts in a relatively straightforward manner and using timely economic data. Using puzzles, issues, and well-developed examples, the authors provide a good balance of theory to application. Homework Xpress and Aplia are available with the Anniversary Tenth Edition and two new sets of end of chapter questions have been added as well to help students prepare for exams: ?Test Yourself? and ?Discussion Questions?.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent!.......2007-07-12
My book arrived in the condition that the seller had posted and it arrived before the delivery estimate that I was given.
I love this textbook!.......2002-03-23
Microeconomics by McConnell and Brue is a great text book. The explanation is very clear. I especially like the way they explain the graphs and concepts. It's very easy to understand. They give very good examples in each chapter. I use it for my class and I found the reading is very enjoyable. This textbook is definitely good for people who want to do self-study of microeconomics.
This is not the textbook........2000-03-24
We thought we had ordered the textbook, Microeconomics: Principles, Problems, and Policies by McConnell and Brue. This book however is Selected Material from Microeconomics. The Table of Contents is the same as the textbook, so this is really confusing. Be sure you get what you want.

Book Description
This book contains economic experiments designed for students who have not previously taken any economics. While this book can supplement any microeconomics text, it can and has been used by itself to teach principles. Unique in the marketplace, EXPERIMENTS WITH ECONOMIC PRINCIPLES: MICROECONOMICS is an extension of the groundbreaking work in Experimental Economics of Vernon Smith. Bergstrom and Miller are two of the most highly-regarded researchers in the creative world of Experimental Economics. FEATURES 1. A new chapter on public goods (ch. 6). 2. A new chapter on network externalities (ch. 9). 3. A new Part V on essential concepts of economic principles. 4. More problems and tie-ins to economics in the news. 5. More discussion of economic concepts. 6. More modular organization for easy custom-publishing of instructor's own selection of experiments. 7. Streamlining some experiments. 8. Improved layout of homework exercises allows faster grading. 9. Improved layout of personal information sheets in Instructor's Manual. 10. Convenient class preparation kits for instructors. Go to the text website for more information on Bergstrom/Miller Experiments with Economic Principles: http://www.econ.ucsb.edu/~tedb/eep/eep.html
Customer Reviews:
Engaging approach.......2006-07-28
I took a course that used this book (taught by one of the authors) to fulfill an economics core requirement. Since then, I have studied economics on my own and know that I have retained a lot of the information that I learned in that first introductory class. In contrast, I've forgotten much of what I learned in standard lecture-style courses. I disagree with the previous reviewer in that I think this book is great for a beginner. You may not learn all of the mainstream technical terms and how to do economic busywork, but it does a really good job of teaching key concepts: supply and demand, market vs. regulated prices, etc... Conceptual understanding is extremely important in any field, and encourages the student to think creatively. Most importantly, this book encourages learning and instills an interest in economics.
Experimental Economics ... not as cool as it sounds........2000-12-24
I had the fortune of being in an introductory economics class where the experimental approach along with this book is used. I already had lots of microeconomics background and scored a 5 on my AP micro and macro eco exam. I believe that experimental approach to economics, although can be interesting at times, is not suitable for students with little or no economics background. It is essential for students to have a solid grasp of important economic concepts such as marginal cost/revenue, opportunity cost, and the experimental approach lacks in that respect. I tried this course and this book, because I wanted a different angle on something I already knew, and I didn't get much out of it. If you're new to economics, and perhaps want to continue into more economics courses later on, this book/course is not the way. The chapters are no more than explanations of the experiments done in class. Very little reference material exists, and everything is over simplified. By the end of this book, students will not be able to draw the MC/MR/TR/TC curves for perfect competitions/monopoly/oligopoly/monopolistic competiton. I got an A in the course, not because the book was so helpful to me, but because I already knew the stuff before I even registered for the class.
