This book is Misnamed...........2000-04-30
It should be named something like the "Essential Math Reference Book for Farmers, Landscapers, Golf Course Superintendants, Nursery Managers etc." What a wonderful and easy to use reference book for anyone dealing with the frustrating world of area measurements, volume/fertilizer/pesticide/irrigation/seeding rate calculations, and spreader and spayer calibration. I've worn out one copy and am on my second. I use it on my farm, at work as a pesticides applicator, and in my landscaping business. This is a must-have book for folks like me that hate math but have to use it almost everyday....believe me your money won't be wasted on this one and it won't just collect dust on your shelf.

The 9 Super Simple Steps to Entrepreneurial Success is a clear and concise, step by step how to approach to starting and running a business.
Customer Reviews:
Interesting Book for Enterpreneurs.......2004-11-02
What does motivation and landscaping have in common? Read Martin J. Grunder Jr's book and you'll find out!
This book is unusual because it's written by a person who created a landscaping company -- not a high-powered Fortune 500 CEO. That's not to say Mr. Grunder's a slouch! He's got a university degree majoring in business to back him.
Mr. Grunder's nine super simple steps to entrepreneurial success are not totally revolutionary to anyone who has spent time studying the topic of being an enterprenaur.
Mr. Grunder brings a combination of motivational encouragement and simple down home truths that can help a person to be a better entrepreneur and business person.
For instance, the Chapter "Get Paid to Learn" suggests that a budding entrepreneur should spend some time working in the field of their chosen passion to both learn the ropes and determine if their passion is truly lifelong. That's a good idea, but a fairly commonly understood one.
Chapter "Ask Questions" seemes to be the most important chapter. Mr. Grunder asserts that we should never be afraid to ask questions, gain knowledge and learn best practices from our mentors and competitors. Excellent advice.
Mr. Grunder even offers a free critique. Just fill out the form in the back of the book and mail it in for some free feedback from the author. Beware, you may find yourself mentioned in his next book!
This is a good read for entrepreneurs who need to revisit the basics and build up their motivation and courage.
A Four-Year Degree in 194 Pages!!.......2004-02-28
WOW - this book is amazing! Marty gets what most business Gurus do not - it's all about you! This book reduces the usually complicated methodology of business wisdom to the simplest common denominator! No kidding, if you have a business or are looking to start one - this book is a must!
This is Definitely a MUST READ.......2003-07-25
If you want a simple, practical book to help you achieve your ultimate goals in your business, then you must pick up Martin Grunder's book, "The 9 Super Simple Steps to Entrepreneurial Success." It's living proof that anyone can make it. And I do mean ANYONE. When I worked as a National Trainer for the well renowned, Tony Robbins, I found that most people believe that only extraordinary people or highly talented, smart individuals have the ability to become successful. Mr. Grunder proves with his research and stories that ordinary people can become millionaires and they don't need to be a "rocket scientist" to do it either. This is a quick, easy read and it was hard to put down! With the thousands of business/personal development books that I've read, I truly believe Mr. Grunder's ranks up there with the best. Therefore, I feel compelled to tell you that this really is a must read and to order this book because you will quickly find that the ideas in this book will help you to grow your business immediately. It's living proof that anyone can make it!
Whoever Performs the Basics The Best Wins.......2002-10-02
Many people dream of starting their own business but feel that they don't have the book or street smarts to be successful in business for themselves. Marty Grunder's new book titled The 9 Super Simple Steps to Entrepreneurial Success tells you that neither book nor street smarts is the key to success but rather several easily digestible steps are the necessary keys to become successful in your entrepreneurial venture. Marty basically tells you that whoever performs the basics of entrepreneurship the best will be successful. The book provides numerous examples of how people started businesses in various industries and how they applied the 9 Super Simple Steps. You will also find that suceeding in business is like winning a basketball game. Nine times out of ten you will find the team that makes the most free throws in a game comes away the winner. A free throw is a simple fundamental part of the game that more often then not is not practiced nor emphasized enough. In the same vain, 9 Super Simple Steps to Entrepreneurial Success tells you how to apply and master the basics of business ownership to whatever venture you are planning to start. No fluff. Just basic truths exposed in real life.
Supreme Inspiration!.......2002-08-30
Although most "Success" books are helpful, Mr. Grunder's book provides not only solid, very basic guidelines for entrepreneurial success, but also provides the inspiration each of us needs to keep the fire going as we develop our business. His steps are clearly stated, his examples are enlightening, and his sense of humor helps keep the reader on track in keeping things in perspective. The book is an easy read, is a great reference for reinforcement of ideas, would be a super tool for training "team members" of any company, and is a true page-turner! Clearly, Mr. Grunder has provided a much needed resource for all companies to follow--making customer service a priority along with the success of the business--one can not happen without the other!!

Book Description
This is a compelling, beautiful and sad road story: Luc Delahaye, photographer and melancholy storyteller, travels in winter across the dark landscape of Russia, where he looks into the private face of Russia's moral and social crisis. This is an exceptional body of work, bridging the divide between art and journalism. The photographs are poetic - simultaneously terrifying, exciting, intimate, moving and very revealing. They offer many pleasures despite the depressing subject matter of a nation falling to pieces, in winter, through alcohol and drug abuse.
Customer Reviews:
initmate russians.......2006-11-20
This photographer gets close, becomes invisible to his subjects and he is able to shoot them in such a way that they forget that he is there. The portraits of people are very good. The landscapes are nothin terrific and should have been included in this book.
a masterwork of personal journalism.......2006-07-20
this book is itself a long, sad, visual poem. it is truly one of the best photo essays ever done, by a an artist who deserves more credit as being, in some opinion, the best photographer on the planet today. although that kind of argument is ridiculous, his books are all compelling, dangerous, edgy, and most of all honest and sympathetic for often forgotten people.
Seek and you shell find..........2003-02-04
This book will tell you more about the author than about his subject...
As someone who lived in the Soviet Union for 22 years, and someone who still visits Russia at least 3 times a year, I have one word for the this book - "chernucha" (Russian word for something that is deliberately made to be depressing by concentrating on the negative). The author has spent all this time in Russia, and this is all he found worthy of photographing?!?! I guess some people can only find inspiration in human depravity.
If you like photography, you will enjoy it, because the pictures are masterful. But if you are looking for a balanced photojournalistic account, stay far away.
Small and Intimate Touch - Great Photo Diary.......2003-01-08
This is a collection of documentary photographs of Russia, which was taken by Magnum photographer Luc Delahaye, during 1998-1999. The warm and contrast colour make you feel like unreal on the scenario. It provides you with an insight into the life and living environment of ordinary people in the places. Some photos somehow look like a paintings. It is not a 'great' (in size) photographic book, but the 'diary' like size makes you get closer and have intimate touch with the subject and photographer's eye.
Nice and intimate touch ...
winterreise.......2002-01-24
There is no doubt that Luc Delahaye is one of the more formidable photojournalists today and there cannot be any serious criticism of his style and dedication to producing strong images. His book, 'Winterreise', is a well produced book and its smaller than usual format does not affect the impact of the pictures. However, I found one problem with this work - it is immensely depressing.
In my opinion this book is a highly professional, well documented study of poverty and abject misery . Moving through the book, one wonders in what mental state the photographer ended up after having spent so much time in such an oppresively miserable environment. Having completed my first look of the book, I immediately thought that Delahaye should have titled the work, 'Misery'.
I must emphasise again that there is nothing poor about the quality of 'Winterreise'. The book meets the highest standards of photojournalism and documentary reporting. Yet it is so depressing that I find myself avoiding it.

German lieder are among the world's most exquisite works of miniature art--one singer, one pianist, one brief poem, expressing a small but profound world in the space of a minute or two--and Franz Schubert was perhaps the greatest of all lieder composers. One of his masterworks was Die Winterreise ("The Winter Journey"), a setting of 24 poems by Wilhelm Mueller. This book may be the definitive word on that cycle. It is sure to increase the understanding of the careful reader/listener with its explanations and insights into Schubert's work.
Book Description
"I like these songs better than all the rest, and someday you will too," Franz Schubert told the friends who were the first to hear his song cycle Winterreise. These lieder have always found admiring audiences, but the poetry he chose to set them to has been widely regarded as weak and trivial. Susan Youens looks not only at Schubert's music but at the poetry, drawn from the works of Wilhelm Mller, who once wrote in his diary, "perhaps there is a kindred spirit somewhere who will hear the tunes behind the words and give them back to me!"
Book Description
All 24 songs of Schubert's great song cycle Winterreise, along with the 4 songs of Geistliche Lieder and the beloved single songs "La Rose," "Die Forelle" and "Lob der Thranen." Reproduced from extremely rare early editions overseen by Liszt himself. With editorial notes, and English translations of the German texts.
Customer Reviews:
Wonderful book of Liszt's transcriptions of Schubert songs.......2007-08-08
Of the many piano transcriptions Liszt made of the works of other composers, those he made by Schubert are among his most inspired. This volume contains the legendary pianist's twelve transcriptions from Schubert's great song cycle Winterreise, along with the four songs of Geistliche Lieder and the beautiful songs La Rose, Lob der Thranen and Die Forelle. These rare transcriptions offer a unique blending of Classical inspiration with Romantic virtuosity. Liszt retained the intense lyricism and emotional impact of Schubert's songs as he transformed them into amazing compositions for solo piano. I absolutely love this book. My favorites are Wasserfluth, Gute Nacht and Tauschung. As always this is a great Dover edition. The notes are not too small and the print is very dark. The book lays open well on your stand. Next to each song in the book there is the full length poem that inspired it. If you are a serious pianist and are interested in playing Liszt's transcriptions of Schubert's lieder songs I know you will get a lifetime of enjoyment out of this book. This is the only version that I believe is available of Liszt's Wintereisse and it's at a great price on Amazon.

Book Description
Sick to death of Millennium Fever? Desperate for some Millennium Bug Spray? Here's the cure for all your woes, a hilarious anti-millennial book from Canada's top cartoonists and satirists, guaranteed to see you safely through the year 2000.
Full of spleen and wit, cartoons and lampoons, the book covers important topics like: sex trends we'll see in the new millennium; the worst inventions of the last 2000 years; suggestions for the perfect millennial pet--and many, many more. Prepare for Y2K by learning what new TV programs we're likely to be watching and what foods we'll be eating. And what of the latest designer genes? 2000 Reasons to Hate the Millennium--don't leave this century without it!
Customer Reviews:
The only intentionally-funny book about Y2K.......1999-06-24
This is one heck of a funny book, as well as being quite informative at the same time. I've read about 2000 lame jokes and cartoons about the millennium in other books and magazines, but most of the ones in this book are quite laughable and clever. Be sure to buy this book for your family and friends who are building their Y2K Survival Bunkers.
Millennial madness strikes again..........1999-06-03
This is the best book I've read about the millennium since "The Optimist's/Pessimist's Guide to the Millennium," a very funny book. Get both!
Absolutely hilarious - I recommend without reservations.......1999-05-20
I've been a fan of Aislin (Terry Mosher) for a long time, and I have to say he and his cohort skewer millennial nonsense beautifully. Anyone with a taste for satire and an appreciation of quick wit will love this book. I bought a copy for my dad for Father's day, but I'm not sure he'll get it. I guess I'll do the generous thing and buy another for myself.
