I was expecting a beautiful book of photos full of inspiring mediterranean colours. This book had a lot of text and wasn't what I expected. Might be interesting but haven't got the time to read it.

I bought this book looking for a lush picture book of inspiring photos of mediterranean homes. It is not. Although the photography is nice, it is primarily of colourful buildings abroad.

Wonderful book and great writing. Beautiful images of architecture, color and life. I highly reccomend. A must have for anyone who has traveled there or for anyone who dreams of doing so. Jeffrey Becom's photographs are a feast for the eyes and his tales are engrossing. One must also look at his other book Maya Color - stunning as well!
A New Way to Look at Color and Arcitecture.......2000-11-09
This book is about Architecture, Color, and how we see the world. It's not about how to be a tourist in the Mediterranean. Unless, of course, you would like to be a tourist who really "sees" what is in front of your eyes when you walk down that picturesque village street. Jeffrey Becom has a killer eye. His camera isolates a detail from our normal panoramic vision of a building or a street scene. When we contemplate this detail our sense of beauty, aesthetic organization, and how the world works is expanded. His capability to see these details while wandering the countries bordering the Mediterranean allows us normal humans a greater appreciation of the sensibilities of work-a-day Mediterannean peoples. The contemplation of Jeffrey Becom's work also inevitably causes us to look at our own world differently. I see things now when I walk down the street that I didn't see before I looked at Becom's work.

Jeffrey's migration from architecht to painter now photographer has imbued his work with a unique sensibility. As a Becom collector Ihave come to appreciate the quality of his eye and the intensity of the Cibrachrome process of printing. I was quite delighted with Jeffrey's ability to write as well; though readers should know that this is primarily a photography book written by a photographer and his wife. He has several galleries around the world that show his work, and though expensive, his work is worth the price! I expectantly await his next book on similar topic, but location of South America. This gem is a do-it-yourself guide to the solvency we all desire. The practical exercises are fun to do, and they hold the key to opening those doors of awareness as to why we do the things we do.... The reader will empathize with people who reacted to early childhood circumstances by becoming adult debtors, and underacheivers. I learned the reasons we undermine our foundations with needless debt, and how best to allocate what we earn. The method used is practical and has helped many who thought there was no hope. This book helps even those of us who have no debt, but who, by mismanagement have wasted money we may need in time. Buying this book is a wise investment.

This book takes a hard hitting approach to debt. While reading the book, I quickly discovered it wasn't about the money. Wow! What a revelation. This book has helped me to "peel away the layers of the onion" and discover the reasoning behind my debting. It even inspired me to go to my first Debtor's Anonymous meeting. Klaus Gerhart's book of black and white male nudes is full of young male beauty. Gerhart is less narrative than Bruce Weber in that his nudes are rarely playful, or moving, or interacting in any other way other than embracing. Gerhart is less slick than Herb Ritts with over the top fashion models. Rather, Klaus Gerhart appears to wish to show the beauty of the male as a natural phenomena, much like the beauty of nature. He contrasts his nudes against rocks and boulder, driftwood, caves and caverns and sand dunes. He is not interested in protraiture. Only a few photographs demonstrate a handsome face, most focus on the body and obscure the face. The fact that the faces are not fully revealed, and the bodies are contrasted against natural forms, allows the bone and muscle structure of the male to be highlighted. His range is very good. Notice his photograph of two men kissing and trace the line where their two faces meet. Notice the underwater nudes as seen through rain disturbed waters. There is a quite tranquility about the work. We expect to hear boys playing and dogs barking with Bruce Weber. We expect to hear club music in the background when we look at Herb Ritts. With Gerhart, we expect to hear wind in the pines and dunes.
A remarkable collection of extremely fine images........2001-11-19
This large format soft-cover book contains some truly stunning images. The plates are all B&W, a medium that conspires to allow the photographer to present his subjects without distraction.
Some of the most startling photographs show men in conjunction with some amazing natural rock formations allowing the viewer to conspire with the view that man is a hard beast, yet as the subjects are totally dominated by nature one is also forced to accept how weak and small a man is.
One striking fact about all the images is that they have a misty quality which works well and I hope is not an error in the book production. Well worth adding to your collection of male erotica.
