Book Description
William T. Baker is a name synonymous across North America with quality architecture and luxury living
Customer Reviews:
Beautiful and educational.......2006-12-19
We bought this book because Mr. Baker is on the short list of architects we are considering for our new home. It is a very beautiful and educational book, with comprehensive pictures of the exteriors and interiors of many lovely homes of all styles. It has helped me greatly in deciding what I like and do not like - I have spent hours pouring over this book and will spend many more I am sure.
I also purchased Bill Harrison's book at the same time and it is not nearly as good as this one, although Mr. Harrison has designed many lovely homes too. Mr. Baker's homes, for the most part, seem to be homes you could actually live in - cozy and warm, even though many are large. Lots of close ups of the details, and even some landscape plans as well.
All in all, a very good purchase!
STYLE PERSONIFIED.......2006-10-30
If a book can be elegant, this one is, the images are crisp and vivid and the text is very informative. The book is very thorough, though never pedantic, you are educated not lectured. If you any interest beautiful new homes or just enjoy beautiful books, then I can imagine you being disappointed. Highly recommended.
Book Description
Features classical, stunning homes by southern born architect Ken Tate.
Customer Reviews:
Ken Tate Architect.......2007-05-13
The projects shown are extremely well executed.
The book combines photographs and drawings in a way that allows the reader to actually learn something about residential design.
Book Description
This collection of houses illustrates a splendid diversity of stylistic approaches and range of creative possibilities. An obvious love of the traditions of architecture is evident in each one - no mater what the historical precedent or geographic location.
Customer Reviews:
Faulty construction (the book, not the buildings).......2005-08-11
This book includes many semi-opaque illustrated papers that are pasted or taped to the bound pages. It's a nice idea, but the paste and/or tape in my copy arrived dried out so that the inserts are loose, and the acids or oils in the glue seeped through the paper so the inserts are also blemished. I'm assuming this was a design flaw, and did not just affect my copy. Did anyone else have this problem? Aside from this disappointment, this is a pleasant and attractively laid out picture book of one architect's expensive new dwellings using classical idioms. In my opinion, best suited for fans of the types of showplaces that are favored by Architectural Digest.

Book Description
This book provides both a narrative history of the Classical Association in the 20th century and a series of studies of different aspects of its work. It includes detailed accounts of the Association's branches, conferences and journals, and ends with a discussion of the long series of
presidential addresses (three of which are reprinted). A centenary account of the Classical Association of Scotland (founded in 1902) is also included. Several appendices provide factual information on the presidents and other officers, and on the Association's archives.
Book Description
Readers call the shots in these titillating original books, written by premier erotica authors, which allow you to live out your most uninhibited erotic fantasies.
The Classics Professor is a beautiful woman at a prestigious New York university whose cold professional façade masks a powerful eroticism. Dr. Wendy Lake wants to seduce you, and a disastrous relationship has left you vulnerable to her advances. You're fascinated and intimidated. When the affair becomes dangerously intense, you'll have to decide whether you will submit to all her perversions, such as attending pansexual orgies in midtown; escape the pressure through a fling with a nubile university co-ed; or drop out of graduate school altogether.
Customer Reviews:
Saucy.......2004-12-09
This book intrigued me because I was looking for an adult choose your own adventure. It certainly was adult. Warning: Do not read this book if you have trouble reading very explicit material. Anyway, I didn't think I would care for it as much as I did. I kept thinking I would just put it down and start reading it again later, but I could wait to see where each decision took me. Some things I didn't like to hear about, but some things were very exciting to read. Read this book if you are interested in expoloring what turns you on. You might be surprised!
A Kinder, Gentler Hemmingson?.......2003-09-07
Did Hemmingson's editor finally tame him? But I see this is a stgory by him and a book by another well-known erotica writer. I have a feeling we may see "story by" Hemmingson on TV sit-coms next!
The book was fun, though. A fun read, like a game.
Not very sexy.......2003-06-20
Avoid this one - Hemmingson is normally a better writer than this. Not very sexy, or interesting.
Designed for rereading.......2003-06-03
Like Kathryn in the City, this is an adult Choose-Your-Own-Adventure. Reading it, you wonder that it took so long for someone to make this, the concept fits light erotica very well.
The story is about a new professor in a new city, with many different diversions and options along the way.
The writing is fun, the choices diverse, and erotica good.
And of course, you can always pick it up again and try something else...

Book Description
A richly illustrated study of architectural ornament in the late Middle Ages. This unique study of the distinctive colorful geometric mosaics created in hundreds of late medieval buildings in Rome and environs (and such far-flung locations as Westminster Abbey) by a group of artisans called the Cosmati is a treasure trove of information and pattern for art and architectural historians and designers in every medium. 600 color and black-and-white illustrations.
Customer Reviews:
Poor quality photos.......2004-11-19
A thorough and focused academic treatise on Cosmati tiling. Living in Rome I was interested in the designs, so I bought this book when it was newly published because it's the only one on the subject. Unfortunately, many of the color photos (taken by the author while a student) have a yellow cast are so dark you can hardly see the details; a few are even out of focus. Such a shame after so much effort of research and expense of printing, that a professional photographer/photo editor was not used. For my purposes I found it disappointing, especially at the list price.
Book Description
260 large-format royalty-free designs featuring imaginatively combined geometric elements. Most are elaborate, densely patterned circles squares and rectangles, some combining sharp, angular forms, others containing sinuous interlacements of circles and rounded forms. Each large-format design is boldly printed and easily reproducible.
Book Description
281 dazzling, black-and-white designs based on polygons, squares, triangles, circles, and other shapes represent a rich variety of styles and influences — from Op Art to folk art. A multitude of applications for illustrators and designers creating wallpaper, textile designs, and other print projects, for needlecrafters doing embroidery and appliqué, and for workers in decoupage.

Book Description
46 striking geometric lattice designs drawn by a computer using sets of lines and arcs based on beautiful, centuries-old patterns. Crisp black-and-white illustrations can be used singly or in handsome combinations. Suitable for a myriad of creative applications. Introduction.
Customer Reviews:
Interesting examples of mathematical art........2006-03-20
The author used a Fortran program to draw a set of lattice patterns that fall into seventeen categories. Each category corresponds to one of the seventeen two-dimensional space groups. The full-page design is created by first constructing a tile. An elementary set of line segments and arcs is taken and then manipulated using a space group. After a tile is created, it is repeated to fill the page.
There are forty-four different designs on these pages and some are quite striking. As someone who has read books on mathematical art across cultures, I recognized some of the patterns. Not exactly, but to a high degree of accuracy. These designs are well worth looking at if you are interested in finding patterns for artwork, quilts or any other visual effect.
