Entourage is an excellent resource for students and professionals in any design field. The tracing files are organized for quick and easy use. Some of the images are a little dated, but overall it is a must have!

As others have stated here, this book is a great resource for entourage, but most of the imagery is from the 1970s and early 1980s.

This book has pretty much been the standard in its genre since the 1970s, but that doesn't mean designers want to use people, vehicles, and other objects that still belong in that decade. The vast majority of images in this book are utterly useless because they are so terribly out of date.

I am a 1st year landscape design student and this book has been a great help in my studies.I found this book on amazon for 30 dollars less on amazon than I would of had to pay at the bookstore.

Great Tracing Book!.......2005-04-27

I am an interior design student who LOVES this book. I had been struggling with drawing people in my renderings and this book really saved my drawings. You can be the best interior artist and have perfected drawing rooms, but if you stick an akward looking person in the center of your room....you have just completely ruined it. This book helps artists, interior designers, architects, students, teachers....everyone.

It has pages and pages filled with people of ALL sizes and shapes. It also has people sitting, laying down, kneeling, etc. There are some pictures of cars, boats, planes, & trees/plants.
Conviently, all of the book's pages can be torn out with perforated edges. You can choose which page you want and slip it right underneath your drawing to trace.

I looked and lookd for a tracing guide and this book is the best out there. If you need help with any kind of human rendering, this book will do the trick.

I own this decorator's companion, along with another companion book. Not only is the information helpful in Caroline Clifton-Mogg's book, but the size is perfect when accompanying you to the stores. It has pockets for fabric swatches, paint chips, photographs or what have you, but also a section for jotting down notes. I've really enjoyed and used this book, and have had friends comment that they would also like to have one.

Mover's Dream.......2004-05-19

If you are moving or redecorating this book is wonderful. It helps you lay out all your rooms, by giving you pointers. However, if you are looking for decorating ideas this is not the book to use. This is more about getting your ideas down on paper then bringing them to life.

If you are moving this is a must have book. Checklists and planning tools galore. I have used it to move from apartment to apartment, but when I moved into my house it became my moving bible. I highly recommend it.

An excellent way to minimize error and organize thinking........2000-06-02

As is typical of this author, I found this book a source of inspiration. It served as a provider of several reminders before plunging into purchases or expensive remodelling, if that is an option for you. She mentions taking into consideration room size of the home or apartment, structural layout, the need to eliminate where possible, permanent vs. temporary living and the solutions for your consideration. I thought the idea about taking fabric samples and pictures of items you liked from magazines and putting them into this file sensible, as well as recording dimensions of the suitable space for a particular piece of furniture. It's difficult to keep everything in memory, and very well might save lots of aggravation. In short, it is an organizer for the unorganized! Well worth the money, even if you feel using a notepad would be fine. You can incorporate your thinking with the ideas and reminders given in this book, quite useful.

I own many books on color and this one is honestly not one of my favorites. It's not that there's anything that I disliked in particular, but there are other books out there that do a much better job addressing this topic.

Well-done and practical guide.......2002-12-30

This book contains many useful tips throughout the book and has beautiful photos. The pictures are mostly examples of Loft-style interior decoration, but if you don't like Loft style, the tips contained within the book are still worth the cost of the book.

The first section is titled "Using Color." Geddes-Brown does a great job of covering the basics of color, such as color properties, the color wheel, and how to find and use your colors. She also covers areas that many other color books do not, such as color and light, zoning and defining space, and how textiles influence color perception.

The second and third sections are titled " Neutrals and Naturals" and "the Colors." These two sections show examples of each neutral or color and has information on how to decorate with each color.

The last section titled "Useful Information" has pages for your own notes and sketches, a list of resources, and a place to put your own favorite resources.

Bonus: I like the fact that at the beginning of each section there are pockets for swatches and magazine inspirations. At the end of each section she has a page titled "Finding Inspiration" which has more useful tips.

Not the normal touch.......2003-08-29

If you want some good ideas for a bathroom but still have that normal look, don't get this book. Stainless steel toilets and a sink in the shower stall with a mirror are some of the weird ideas that come out of this book. They even show industrial toilets that are mounted to the wall rather then the typical floor mounted toilet.

Some very strange colored tile patterns and designs and one bathroom even has old wood on the walls to give it that barn look. What kind of person would have wooden swing doors for a shower door and a bail of hay to sit on to change.

Pretty decent book for beginners.......2006-12-03

This was one of the first books I bought when I just started acrylic painting.

This book introduces the reader to different brushes, textures, effects,etc.

I actually did many of the exercises from this book and they came out pretty good. I enjoyed doing the exercises because a lot of the exercises were easy and precision wasn't really required, which let me just work on the basics of things (shadows,etc.)

I definately wouldn't call this a complete course, but it might be a complete course of the basics of acrylic painting (to get you started). I would recommend this book if you're just starting acrylic painting and want a book that's fairly easy to do the exercises for.

NOT A COMPLETE COURSE!.......2004-03-12

Please don't name your book a complete course in 10 lessons if it is not. Only for beginners and remember not a complete course. Only if you don't know anything about painting, it gives very basic knowlege and it should say that is what it does.

Hate to be a party-pooper but...............2004-01-04

I ordered this book through a magazine thinking it would have good step by step instructions. Thank goodness I didn't pay much for it. The acrylic exersizes are all done in a messy watercolor-like style. It looks like something my 2 year old could do. I gave my copy to the goodwill (that was before I discovered reselling online...of course, I wouldn't wish this book on anyone).

great beginner's book.......2000-06-03

This is the best book on beginning acrylic painting that I have run across so far. I've found the exercises challenging but not too difficult. The 10 lessons seem to give the beginner a good grounding in basic concepts of color selection, composition, building the painting, and special techniques. I would highly recommend this book to someone who is interested to beginning to paint but does not have time to take lessons.

Not what I thought.......2007-09-13

I bought this as a present for my wife. We had just returned from a trip that included a visit to the Grand Canyon, and I wanted to get her a memento of the visit. This book sounded good, but was not the one that included the beautiful vistas that we wanted. There are some photos too dark to really discern why they are included. There are some photos of a boat on the bank of the river. That could be from anywhere.
Although I suppose others may find it interesting, we didn't want a book of prose, we just wanted amazing photos. This was not that book.

The finest Grand Canyon book at the lowest price...........2007-02-15

This book is so awesome, and of such high quality, that its Amazon price seems surreal...I have two copies and am ordering a third, for posterity or whatever.

Intensely beautiful photographic prints, at the very leading edge of Canyon photos....almost beyond description!

If you buy one copy of this book, you'll then want another for a gift, and another for your own collection.....etc.

Yes, you would expect truly astounding photography here, and you get exactly that, in lots of different flavors too, but the stories are deft and revealing -- far more than in a book of photos alone of a place that you couldn't take a bad photo if you tried. Trimble himself is a master craftsman with the camera, but his service here is to gather some really remarkable work and voices into a tome that anyone who has gaped and prayed there will want to paw through before you get major brownie points for giving it to someone else. Terrific work.

A lot of laughs, and a lot to think about........2001-10-10

I bought Hutch Owen expecting to laugh, not learn. But if a cartoon book about an anarchic vagrant can be funny, and educational, and touching, and a thousand other things, so much the better.

Hutch is a hard-working man, whose work just happens to be railing against the system and alerting the common man to the depradations of Big Business, embodied in the book by "Worner Products". (CEO Dennis Worner has some...odd....ideas, among them a line of Malcolm X clothing and paraphernalia and a bizarre soft drink, plus the "Punk Rock Car.....GET ANGRY FOR IT!!!!" I suspsct that some of these products would, in real life, be big sellers....)

Hutch tries to impart gentle lessons in humanity to people, and I found his friendship with a little boy, and their quest to build a "Hideout" from the rest of the world to be particularly touching. The 3rd story in the 4 story book is a flat-out gutbuster, as Hutch is forced to get a job (gasp...) for the stock-market. The way he innocently plays all of the idiotic traders for fools, and casually manipulates the market, is hilarious.

In the end, we would all be better off if we really had a Hutch Owen......
