The book is very informative how ever i feel some of the questions could have been a little more precise in what they were asking. I needed the book for my construction management class when i was taking another class on materials and methods for construction so a lot of information overlapped which helped concrete it in.

The book itself is generally good quality and well-written. I'm learning about construction & drawings for the very first time, so some info was hard for me to really understand - not enough explanation and, oh yeah - the DRAWINGS that are referred to throughout the ENTIRE book - uh... are NOT included! I HOPE someone sees this comment so that perhaps an addendum to the book's description could really warn buyers what they're in for by trying to save money on the used book. Honestly, you really lose at least half the value by not being able to refer to the plans...so: BUYER BEWARE!
Text book study.......2005-10-16
This book is laid out like a text book course of study, which I like, however one important thing to note is that there is no answer key for the tests. The answer key is a seperate book and I have been unable to locate it. Fortunately I work for a General Contractor and have been able to have my co-workers check my answers for accuracy. But as far as being a good source for systematic learning, this book definitely is.

This is a very informative source for anyone interested in exploring handmade tiles. It addresses several techniques. I was especially interested in the press mold section of the book. Even if you've never made or thought of making a ceramic tile, you'll be thinking seriously about it after just a few minutes with this book, and within a couple hours you'll have plenty of information on how to do it and how very far you could take the art if you're serious about it.
Included are color photos of great examples of beautiful hand-decorated tiles, vintage and contemporary, of a myriad of styles, some complex, some simple, but all compelling. And there's plenty of detailed how-to information to get you started in the craft or advancing from where you might be now. Even includes information about constructing your own tile making tools.
All in all, lots of inspiration and information in a fairly slim, easy to digest volume.
The best book for beginners.......2006-04-11
Out of curiosity I picked up Frank's book from the library and of all the ones I've looked at on how to create artistic tiles, his is the best. He made a rank newbie like me believe I could actually do this and make them pretty to boot! I really appreciate the wide range of techniques he presented, charts and recipes, and I'm REALLY appreciative of all the instructions he includes to make the very tools that he uses to make his masterpieces. My only regret is that I don't live closer to him so I can learn from the master in person. I may have to change that. *grin*

I found this book a lighthearted way to initiate an important discussion with kids about the nature of internet bullying. I was glad that the book didn't enumerate all the ways bullying occurs, but rather it opens a door for discussion with kids about their own experiences. This book stands alone in addressing this issue for children.

It is very cumbersome with many superfluous and irrelavent details. The learning center director in our elementary school agreed. I sent this book back...which I have never done.

Whatever you do, do NOT read this book aloud. It has definitely given our little four-foots ideas!
This book is compelling, entertaining, and WAAAY too close to reality. It's a fun ride from start to finish, and we were sad to see it end. So we are very much looking forward to the sequel, Prey-Part Politics. (We'd vote for PKP.)
This is a fine addition to anyone's library, but it's an absolute must-have for anyone with four-foots in their lives.
3.5 stars: Short, clever and fun.......2003-11-11
This one is pure wish-fulfillment fantasy (but fun) -- a struggling writer and her musician-husband are saved from wage-slavery by Fluffy & PKP [note 1], their Web-savvy, entrepeneurial pets. It's a pretty slight idea to support a novel, but it's short, clever, and has a bravura finish. Recommended, especially for struggling artists.
Special kudos to Ed Cox for the cover art -- do enlarge the cover scan, above!
PS: when the book gets slow, you may want to skim ahead to where the cats order a pizza. Double anchovies, extra ham, no sauce.

A fellow cat-person gave this to me, but I put off reading it for months, fearing it would be too cutesy (actually is a touch heavy on the italics-for-emphasis, thus the 4 rather than 5 stars)...well, last night I finally opened it, and read it in one sitting, laughing all the way.
Beth Hilgartner has captured perfectly the way multiple cats conspire to do the things that one could not accomplish alone. While cat-lovers in general would love this book, those who live in a multi-cat household would especially enjoy the collaborative techniques of the feline sisters who, while sparring all the while on a personal level, bring off a caper brilliantly. And notice, too, that the bossy, overbearing Princess is eventually gotten the better of by her cyber-empowered sister. Also delightful is that the cats' keyboarding skills are never discovered by the humans, which would be the more expected end of such a tale.
Is a sequel in the offing, perhaps...?

What a great wonderful pair Beth Hilgartner has invented for this title. Fluffy and PKP are quite the epitomy of cats and any catlover can relate to their actions and actually wonder while giving their furkids an extra look or two.
When their two-feet companions are forced to return to work due to money problems PKP & Fluffy decide they aren't getting the treatment they had signed up for in this household. Dana, a writer & Colin a musician still care for them, they just aren't around enough to answer to all their whims. After watching Dana show Colin how to operate the laptop, Fluffy who has been watching every move decides it would be a great diversion. That's where the "Master Plan" gets it's start.
The two begin trading in the stock market and then in futures with some hillarious results. The team keeps going and going and they take you right along on their adventures as they try to never get caught with their paws on the trackball.
Would be a delightful read for young teens or as a read-aloud book to younger children.
Smart & Funny - a must read book.......2001-12-04
Cats in Cyberspace is a gem. And I don't even care for cats.
In much the same way as Harry Potter, this book tackles improbable events in a manner that makes them seem completely commonplace, and does so with grace and humor. The wordplay is extraordinary and avid National Public Radio fans will pick up several inside jokes that make it an even better read.
I picked this book up at the bookstore entirely by accident. I started reading it right there and then, and finished it a couple days later. Gave it to another friend who basically read it straight through was well.
While short, the book is equally capable of being read by adults or sophisticated teens.

Back in the golden days (pre-1990), Internet books were deadly serious tomes filled with lists of line-mode FTP commands, hair-splitting essays on why BITNET was not part of the Internet, appendices filled with lists of RFCs and the contact phone numbers for hooking up your large university to one of the 13 NSFNet sponsored regional networks. Dialup providers were non-existent, and so were Net-humor books.
And then one day, a book of Smileys (those little ASCII faces like >:-{) was released, and we old-timers were not amused. And in general, I have not been amused by so called "net-humor" books, and I was predisposed to not like
Internet for Cats.
But as soon as I opened this book, a contented smile came over my face, and I curled up into a little ball on a sofa and wished I had a kittis kattus to share it with. This is without doubt one of the most charming Net-humor books in existence. I loved it from beginning to end, and so will you. Four paws up!

Take a great trip with Judys' friend Bubbles through the Internet. Enough humor to leave you in tears and a great collections of Cat links. I will never tire of reading it, but may have to purchase additional copies because of worn out pages and Cat chews!

The book that I had read was called "Big Cats." It was a interesting book. It informed the reader of interesting facts and locations of these giant felines. I would definitly recommend this book to cat lovers. The book is filled with all sorts of interesting facts. It hits on the subject of habitats and behaviors of cats in the wild. It talks about how thier becoming endangered due to hunting and deforestation.The reader is bound to learn at least one fact when through reading this book.

This book tells you what big cats look like were they live what they eat how they eat. which oness are a threat to man kind. did you know that cheetah can top its speed out at 115kph thats (70mph). I think the purpose of this book is to let people learn about big cats.
I think the audience of this book would be cat lovers.

The purpose of this book is to give you information on tigers and where they live. The audience of this book I think should be teen-agers and up but it could be suitable for children above the age of seven. The dialouge is dimotic and easier to understand for most educated people, then it is for example children.This book tells about the types of tigers and other interesting cats that are worth noting.It tells about where the tigers and other big cats live. How they hunt and how big their hunting area is. How much food they intake at one sitting and
how long they will go without food after eating a big meal.
This book tells about how they kill their prey and it even tells some of their killing tatics.One of the big cats known as the cheatah looks like a greyhound dog. I think you sould read this book if your looking for an infomational book.

This books main purpose is to inform the reader about the world of big cats. Good reading skills is an essential in reading this book. These skills will enable you to better understand this book. I would recommend this book in the near future but maybe not in 20 years because the information may change. Usborne Discovery: Big Cats captures all the aspects of big cats. It shows glorious images of big cats to help illustrate the text. This book also compares big cats to domesticated house cats to help the reader connect and experience what the author is informing the reader. They go in depth with everything from big cat mating to myths and legends about big cats. Sections and pictures from this book can be accessed online. I love animals and still learned some interesting facts from this book like the fact that tigers cannot roar. This book allows the reader to experience an animal that they may never get to experience up close.
