Book Description
This is the second of a seven book series (K-6th grade) providing instruction in italic handwriting. It is designed for the beginning student of handwriting and is recommended for late kindergarten, first grade, and/or early second grade.
The twenty-six lowercase letters and the twenty-six capitals are introduced one letter per page. Letters are arranged alphabetically, and words and sentences are introduced.
Every page has models to trace, letters to write beginning at the dot indicators provided, and in the blank spaces, with a "best" letter box to complete on each alphabet page, showcasing the child's best work for that particular letter.
The books were designed so that a child may begin anywhere in the series, even though they have never before learned italic. Each book begins with a comprehensive review for that particular level. For example if a child is in the 4th grade, and can write at that grade level, they can begin with Book E without having to work through any of the previous books, adding to the versatility and cost-effectiveness of this series.

Great way to teach handwriting.......2001-07-05
We have used this book with our children, as part of our home teaching. They have easily worked through it and it takes only a few minutes each day with very little aid needed. I recommend it over ball and stick!!
Book Description
Intended for use with the Getty-Dubay Italic Handwriting Series workbooks A-G for kindergarten through 6th grade, each Blackline Master packet corresponds with the designated workbook A-G. They consist of 8 ½ x 11" copyright-free sheets containing two separate practice lessons per page. Each ½ page indicates the corresponding page in the workbook where the lesson is covered. For example, after teaching a particular letter or join, select the appropriate half page for student practice.
The Blackline Masters may be used as an introduction to the workbooks, as a review once the workbooks have been completed, or for extra practice and to reinforce and refine specific areas that may need a little more attention later on.
Because the pages are copyright-free, an instructor may make as many copies as needed from the masters, providing unlimited practice for students.
As the Blackline Masters are to be used in conjunction with the workbooks, the actual instruction is contained in the workbooks.
Book Description
This book will have beginning artists of all ages drawing faces that are strikingly realistic and detailed. Artist Carrie Stuart Parks honed her fast and effective drawing skills as a professional forensic artist. Here she makes drawing fun and easy, showing beginners how to render vivid self portraits and portraits of others, all in a matter of hours.
Artists will successfully learn how to master proportions and map facial features accurately. They will then study shapes within a composition and learn to draw them realistically. Lastly, artists will study the subject's values and use them to bring life and accuracy to each portrait. A final "checking" step helps artists capture heightened realism and accuracy.
This book features clear step-by-step instructions, before-and-after examples from students, and proven drawing exercises used to train artists throughout the country.

Secrets to Drawing Realistic Faces.......2007-04-11
This book was recommended to me by someone who is an artists for crime victims. It was used in the classes she went to. I am practicing drawing eyes at the moment. I have to say that I am now drawing the best eyes ever. This book explains more that where to put the features. It explains how to make the features come to life.
Drawing Techniques Analyzed and Simplified .......2007-03-23
Again, I checked this one out from the library before purchasing. I did not want another book that just told me to sit down and 'draw what you see'. When it comes to faces, the proportions are the hardest part for me. This book goes into great detail explaining how to 'measure' the features of a real person, not the imaginary kind we see in fashion layouts. I have actually seen great improvement after only a few drawings. The best way to improve is to do separate studies of each facial feature until we get them right, and this book explains how. Practice is what brings the progress. Finding time is the problem. This book makes it very clear that anyone with good eyesight can learn to draw peoples' faces. It's just like learning any other skill. This woman teaches this course to police artists, ordinary people with no previous artistic training. It works!
This book really helped!.......2007-02-08
I love this book, I got it from the library, but I had to have my own copy. I was able to actually capture a likeness for the first time! Her technique of measuring can be applied to more than just faces. I bought her second book, but this one is better.
Drawing Realistic Faces.......2007-02-07
I am very happy with this book, gives you a step by step insight on portraits. This book was also shipped to me within two days, fast and efficient!!

Book Description
This illustrated book takes the reader on a visual journey of discovery through a land of great diversity and natural beauty. It is aimed primarily at tourists who wish to see the best South Africa has to offer and photographs focus on those areas which travellers are most likely to visit. It shows South Africa as a nation of contrasts, from the lush subtropical forests of the Eastern Transvaal to the arid wilderness of the far west, and the sun-drenched golden sands of its beautiful coastline to the remote peaks of forbidden mountain ranges. The country's scenic wonders are matched only by its spectacular diversity of animal and plant life, and the richness of its multicultural society.

Customer Reviews:
Lost in Translation.......2006-09-12
This manga his hard to describe, and I think that's because of the different sensibilities between the Japanese and Americans. But here goes:
This work is by Yukito Kishiro, most recognized from his brilliant cyber-punk epic Battle Angel Alita. Aqua Knight bears incredibly little resemblance to Alita, so much so that if you didn't know ahead of time that it was done by the same person, you probably wouldn't be able to tell.
This is a much simpler story. In an aquatic fantasy world, a boy lives on a small island with his father. There doesn't appear to be anything on the island except for a lighthouse. They survive by eating fish, which they catch with the aid of a friendly killer whale.
Since it's only the boy and his father, the boy tends to run around half naked. Often the wrap around his waist flips up and we see his boy bits. This seems to bother some people. But I grew up in a neighborhood where all the families seemed to have boys, and since there were no girls in sight, some parents let their boys run around naked. The kids were too young to know the difference, and their parents were kind enough to not instill in them a sense of shame about their body at an early age. It's about innocence, and it's supposed to be funny.
The father is muscular and scarred and tan. With no women around, he's let his hair and beard grow, and the near lonliness has left him just a tad crazy. He's a good father to the boy, fulfilling what few needs the boy has on that tiny island, but the lack of civilization has left him a bit, well, uncivilized.
The boy finds a suit of armor under the water and, with the help of the killer whale, brings it home. The father explains that it's a knight's armor, and when they open it, inside is the first woman the boy has ever seen. The boy asks about her obvious physical differences, but being prepubescent his questions are innocent and his father answers them respectfully.
As the woman recovers, the boy talks to her and becomes interested in the world outside of his little island.
There are a lot of strange characters who show up by the end of this volume and in the rest of the series. They're all kind of crazy and wacky, and funny if you don't take them seriously. I'm willing to bet that Aqua Knight is more about Yukito Kishiro just wanting to do something fun, after the seriousness of Alita.
I loved Alita, but I felt that Yukito Kishiro's story telling, specifically his pacing and characterization were a bit weak in places. I think those weaknesses show up her as well. He will pause in the middle of a fight scene to explain how someone's weapons work, for instance. It can be a bit jarring.
But the strength is the artwork. His figures are amazing, dynamic and full of life. His action sequences are beautiful. But what impressed me most here were the zipotones. This is the most amazing grayscale work I've ever seen. Ever.
So if you pick up the book, and just sit back and relax, and don't take it too seriously, you'll have fun.
Dissapointing.......2002-03-30
I don't know what I was expecting from this book but it wasn't what I got. I suppose since it was written by the same person who wrote Battle Angel Alita (which I loved) I was expecting something a little more along the same style. Not to say that you won't like it but keep in mind that this is almost the exact opposite of Battle Angel Alita in art, detail, story, style, and humor.
While his previous work was a serious story about a dark forboding future with cyborgs and maniacs, Aqua knight is a light hearted tale about a naive little boy who wants to become a knight (whatever their definition of knight is supposed to be.)
Not to say that I don't like to read funny things. My favorite writer is Rumiko Takahashi and I think her works are hilarious.
The jokes in Aqua Knight though are more lame than anything and almost disturbing. His biggest gag seems to be the little island boy that wears a little, whatchamacallit, skirt, buttflap thing, that flies up every 4 pages or so revealing his, ummm, boyish parts. Maybe that doesn't annoy some people but that sure irritated me.
It is also full of (to point of boredom) little facts about the made-up world and island they live on. It's like a history lesson on something that doesn't even exist. Ok it wasn't that bad, I'm just getting really into the negative feel of this review, hehe, but keep in mind that this is one of it's characteristics.
OH OH one more thing before I forget. It takes awhile to get used to the fact that it's in kind of a someone telling a story form. Rather than having them just talk and let you watch what's happening it'e more like "the girl woke up surprised at her surroundings. She was afraid at first of the large man's appearence but was quickly put at ease by his kind words".
I suppose I'm just not used to reading manga like that so that's also why I didn't like this too much.
This does not mean u will not like this. In fact u may love it. There are some very impressive pictures of a HUGE dragon and a really amazing water fall type thing at "one of the edges of the Earth"
Aquatic sci-fi/fantasy!.......2001-12-01
Fans of the author's previous work, Battle Angel Alita, may be a little surprised by the subject of this manga. Instead of the dark, far future of 'Alita', we are introduced to a sunshiny, medieval-flavored fantasy realm at the edge of the world. A terrific change from most comics out there, I was quite impressed with Aqua Knight, and I'm waiting for future volumns. The characters are well-defined, for the most part, and provide an emotional element to the story which helps to drive it along. As a brief note for the uninitiated, the Japanese in general are quite comfortable depicting nudity, child or adult, and this is apparent in Aqua Knight. I personally feel that this does not detract from the book's merit in any way, I merely mention this in passing for the benefit of those who have not previosly experienced the manga art form, and would like to. In that case, or if you are already a fan, I can recommend this book as a good introduction.
