Stage performer Joel Grey has a home featured here as well. The great diversity of the homes shows that of all of todays trends, eclecticism rules.

Most books I buy there may be one or two pages you like, but the rest is a dud. This book has beautiful pictures and great home decor ideas. Many different styles.

Creative Stamping with Mixed Media Techniques is another valuable resource and creative inspiration book from Sherrill Kahn. Both books by Ms. Kahn are full of outstanding photographs to inspired dozens of mixed media adventures. Her work is bold and colorful, and incorporates numerous mixed media techniques that are easily accessible to all readers. There are dozens of project ideas in the book that will satisfy crafters, and even more valuable are the demonstrations of painting and stamping techniques that readers can explore and adapt to their own artwork and projects.
Fantastic companion volume to author's first book!.......2003-09-26
If you love rubber stamping and painting on fabric, you need just two books: this one and the author's first, Creating with Paint. I have both books and love them equally-and, more importantly--I USE them extensively in my own artwork.
I have also taken two workshops with the author, Sherrill Kahn, and highly recommend them. Take a workshop with Sherrill if you can! She's a very encouraging, supportive and inspiring teacher, and all of these qualities come across in her two books.
One of my favorite aspects of Creative Stamping is that Sherrill shows you in step-by-step photos how she layers dyes, paint and stamping techniques to arrive at her highly complex fabrics. It's easy once you see how she does it, and that's why Creative Stamping is a must-have for any fabric painters library.
Lots of information, inspiration, and some great how-to projects make Creative Stamping well worth the investment.

great pictures 5 star, -dangerous info - 1 star.......2003-09-15
Again, Sherrill has produced a book worth examining for wonderful pictures, and step-by-step techniques. My greatest concern is once again finding the trademarked material TYVEK utilized in craft work. The makers of TYVEK specifically have stated it is never to be heated or used other than for what it is specifically designed for. Deathly toxic, once more it is appalling to find it used with a 'heat outdoors' statement attached. Does the company know this material is being used this way??? As an art educator I must not only be aware of this safety info for myself but for my students. Poor editing let this one slip by.

Making Rubber Stamping Creative.......2007-09-10
The charm of this book is the amount of paper related creative techniques that one learns while also learning essential rubber stamping. Rubber stamping in itself is used to supplement mostly paper crafts and book arts (but one can rubber stamp fabric, too), which one also learns a lot about while doing the projects in this book. If this is your interest then I think this is an essential book to own on this subject.
Clever, Creative, And Expensive.......2006-08-20
I have loved all of the MaryJo McGraw stamping books that I've read. This is most likely my favorite. It is very creative. My favorite part about her books is that the cards actually look pretty, like something I'd want to duplicate myself. With other stamping books I didn't like the cards, and there was no way I wanted to use them as a guide even if their tecniques worked. Also the writing is fun and interesting, and not dull or preachy. My one problem with it is that to be able to make the cards you have to buy a lot of supplies. Overall the book in itself is very inspiring and worthwhile although it asks you to use many different supplies.

Tips on using different types of media like velllum, using wax stamps and embossing powders, making antique finishes. using metallic papers, and an especially fun one - using brayers and bleach - these (and more) are all in this book - really lots to inspire plus good instructions.
Creative and Informative.......2003-06-22
I have just started making craft projects and this book was a lifesaver. Besides offering very creative projects, this book provides all the basic techniques of stamping. The author earns my gratitude by showing each method in a step-by-step manner, with photos at every step. However, this book also will satisfy the more experienced stamper.
In the first chapter, the author gives a detailed list of helpful tools and materials, a small library of quirky images, and the basics of inking and cleaning stamps.
In the second chapter on embossing, the author first lists basic materials and tips. Then, she gives "receipes" and instructions for particular projects. Some are more complicated than others. Finally, the author gives an "endless possibility" section that provides instructions without the step-by-step photos. This is because these projects all build on the basic tecniques so it would be redundant to include them. My favorite project in this chapter is the Deco-Roman-looking flute player superimposed over sheet music.
The third chapter follows the format of the second chapter in how it is set up, but all the projects involve embedded stamps. This method is "a bit tricky" as the author says, because it involves heat, but looks impressive. It gives a 3-D effect to the stamped image.
The fourth chapter describes how to add vellum to your projects. This chapter also has basic techniques and tips upon which are built more, but do-able, projects. I like the use of tassles with the vellum.
Chapters five and eight describe embellishments and how to combine previously mentioned techniques. Chapter five focusses on beading and sealing wax. Chapter eight titled ornaments does not describe stamping Christmas-like ornaments, but rather how to make clay ornamentation. I would have liked to see more variety in the embellishments in the two chapters, but there are still some nice ideas. I especially liked the heartstrings card in chapter five.
Chapters six, seven, and nine describe ways to add a finish to your project. The chapters present the methods of antiquing, paper metallics, and brayers, respectively. Antiquing is easier than I thought it would be with the author's simple instructions, but adding a metal finish is another tricky method that involves heat. Chapter nine describes how to change the appearance of your project using watercolors, bleaching, textures(like bubble wrap), and a brayer.
In the last section the author gives useful information. She provides a list of stamp companies and publications. Thankfully, she also provides a list by page number of all the stamps, and the companies that make them, used in the projects.
I look forward to trying all the projects, and would recommend this book to crafters at all experience levels.

I was really inspired by this book. Maryjo shows us several unique techniques that are more than just basic cards. If you are looking for great artsy projects, you need to get this book. Maryjo shows us all how to look at our stamping supplies in a different way. If you want to create stunning one of a kind works of art, this is the book for you!

I have bought 3 Dee Gruenig's books and each one of them seems similar - the tips are somewhat the same, the pics similar in style, the techniques used similar (kind of a repeat in all her books...which makes me really disappointed that I paid for the book. I was hoping that there would be something new and different the author would put forth in this book but it has proven otherwise. I do suggest anybody who has bought one or more of Dee's books to think twice before buying this one. It will just be another "duplicate" sitting on your shelf collecting dust. After this, I don't think I will ever buy her books again. Sheer waste of money...It's a wonder how the author can go all out to publish a new book with no apparent new ideas.
Dee Gruenig's Rubber Stamp Treasury.......2000-07-09
I am fairly new to rubber stamping and this book is an excellent source of information. Everything is explained step by step so you can't go wrong. There are so many projects to try that you will never be bored. You will be stamping out greeting cards, picture frames, invitations, wrapping paper and much, much more! This book makes rubber stamping a fun project for ALL ages.I enjoyed it very much and would recommend it to anyone interested in rubber stamping.Beginners and also experienced stampers will have a lot of fun with this book.

Not bad- not great.......2003-10-08
The book has many great techniques and explains every function in FCP very well with step by step guides and suggestions. Unfortunately, many of the examples are not tailored for real world editing (the chroma-key section for example). Would have preferred that they use some real world situations for their examples.
And I can't help but concur with everyone else about the quality of the book. Within the first few minutes of reading, the book was falling apart and pages were dropping out of the book. Shoddy workmanship by the publisher!

A wish that other software books would be as this... beyond Final Cut it cover many aspects of video editing and is a great source of tips of any kind, very useful for beginners (but also good for experienced video editors who have forgotten some aspects about their work).
The design layout and color images of the book are very nice too.
A Problem with Binding of the book.......2002-11-30
This is a great book with the exception that the construction of the book is defective. It is not sewn and the long rectangular shape caused my copy to fall apart in spite of my careful handling. Too bad because I love the book. But it is literally now all over the place and pages are stacked together . A definite problem with construction of the book.
A Great Book for New Final Cut 3 Users.......2002-07-16
As a "rank beginner" I was very impressed with the author's ability to convey the information. He covered Final Cut Pro 3 in a wonderful step by step process. Along the way he made sure that each process was clearly stated. Since I have no prior knowledge of working with Final Cut Pro 3, I appreciated the approach that was taken.
If you are in the market for a FCP3 book, give this one STRONG consideration.
High Price but HIGH VALUE!!.......2002-06-16
The authors do a bang up job of covering Final Cut Pro. The content of this book is only surpassed by the excellent execution of its design. Content is well-written, clear and easily understandable. As if this weren't enough, the authors outdo themselves by using a design concept for their FCP3 topics that make already clear explanations, crystal clear. It's obvious that much of the book's high price is due to the high quality screen shots and illustrations all of which are in color. Color makes all the difference, especially when talking about FCP3 where color in the application itself conveys information to the user. The screen shots chosen by the authors to illustrate their explanations make this book a perfect choice for beginners or intermediate users. An excellent book, an excellent buy.

A Real Winner!.......2007-01-10
I bought this book for our school library collection. Our kids love these books to death--I have several in sad shape to prove it! This came right in time for them to enjoy during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Boy, did they ever! The comic book format really appeals to them, and having the print version allowed them to see the storyline, even if it wasn't in video format. The Halloween adventure at the beginning of the book was a pleasant surprise when I found that the deleted scene from the DVD was included. It is the part where Garfield and Odie are getting ready to come in the house but find they have been followed by the ghosts since Garfield swiped a ring from their chest. The kids had never seen that part, and were delighted to see something new. Several of the kids had never known there was a Thanksgiving special (and yes, that includes me) so they were pouring over that section as well. They really got a charge out of Grandma with her power tool "utensil" (chain saw) used to carve the frozen turkey. And last, but not least, the Christmas portion of the book seemed to be the students' favorite. Something about Garfield and gifts under the tree seems to draw the kids in.
If you have a reluctant reader, this is definitely a good book to purchase. The comic book format will keep them interested in what is coming. And if you love Garfield, this is a must have!

This book was great . Garfield goes on zany adventures to either help a snowball fight , save santa from aliens , even makeing friends with a rat . My 20-month-old son has been a huge fan of scratch and sniff books since he started "reading" as a six-month-old, so when I saw this new book, I immediately bought it. We were both disappointed. The storyline if fair, but what's most disappointing is the extremely weak-smelling stickers. After searching the far ends of the earth for scratch and sniff books for my son, I've concluded that you just can't beat the scratch and sniff series -- "Scratch and Sniff Shopping," "Scratch and Sniff Food," and "Scratch and Sniff Garden" in terms of wonderful, long-lasting scents and bright, clear pictures that appeal to very young children. Even if your child is a scratch and sniff fan like mine, don't waste your money on this book.
Cute-Not real Smelly!.......2000-09-16
I looked forward to getting this book to read to my boys, as they love scratch and sniff books. However, as cute as the pictures are, the scents in the book are faint at best, and even the few faint ones only smell the first few times. Not one for a scratch and sniff collection, the Party, Shopping, Garden are much better choices for smelling. I hope this helps, we have many smelly books, and this one is not one of the better ones. I would not purchase another of this series or give them as gifts! :(

This whole series is really very sweet. These are short, cute books that we read on all of the holidays. Even if the scratch and sniff parts run out (which they do after many many readings!) my 3 and 5 year old still enjoy these mysteries.
